The City’s Strongest Son-in-law

Chapter 1027: Chapter 1026: Yang Wenwu Comes to Plead for Mercy

”Thank you, President Ye, for your kindness. I’ll surely discipline him when I get back and tell her what should and shouldn’t be done,” said Yang Wenwu, kowtowing a few times towards Su Changfeng as he spoke.

”If there’s nothing else, you’d better leave quickly,” Su Changfeng said, and after these words, he left with Han Xue and the others.

Yang Wenwu, who was tense just a moment ago, finally breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this. However, he knew very well that causing such a scene now meant the chance of currying favor with Su Changfeng was very slim.

After all, not to mention Su Changfeng, even he himself couldn’t manage his own family, let alone others.

At the entrance of the Hilton Hotel, however, Su Changfeng saw an acquaintance, someone he hadn’t seen in a long time.

The whole family of Song Yang stood far from the entrance, looking very stiff in their movements. When they saw him, their expressions were first surprised, then somewhat panicked.

Song Minghe was an old friend of Shen Zhenhua, and they were classmates before that. A few years ago, when Song Minghe had just bought a new house, he invited many relatives and friends to a gathering. At that banquet, he disparaged Su Changfeng.

Song Minghe liked Shen Hanxue and hoped she would marry Song Yang. Having a filial daughter-in-law was his wish, and he always looked down on Su Changfeng, thinking it was sheer luck that someone like him could marry Shen Hanxue.

Such a nice and graceful girl like Shen Hanxue should marry his son.

Recently, however, he’d learned of Su Changfeng’s true identity: the young master of the Ye Family from Beijing. That made Song Minghe realize the vast difference between their sons.

Although Song Minghe was somewhat outstanding among his peers, compared to a big figure like Su Changfeng, the gap was astronomical.

Nowadays in Jiang City, everyone looked up to Su Changfeng. Previously, Song Yang had caused a lot of trouble for him, and many chose to snub him, not even willing to do business with his company. As a result, his company went bankrupt, and now he had nothing to do.

They understood clearly that if Song Yang wanted to continue in Jiang City, they needed Su Changfeng’s forgiveness. Since they couldn’t even obtain an invitation to Su Nian’s hundred-day feast today, they had to wait outside, hoping to apologize to Su Changfeng when he came out and ask for forgiveness.

But seeing those Jiang City bigwigs, and then suddenly Su Changfeng, left them at a loss, all just standing there dumbfounded. After all, Su Changfeng was not what he used to be, and they had become jobless wanderers. The gap was too wide.

”Dad, your old friends are also here,” Su Changfeng said to Shen Zhenhua with a smile after spotting Song Minghe and his family.

Though Shen Zhenhua was old, his eyes were not failing. He saw Song Minghe’s family too, and his face lit up with a bright smile.

Back when Han Xue and Su Changfeng had just gotten married, Tang Chengye kept belittling him because the Shen Family’s company was smaller. Even if Shen Hai was more capable than Su Changfeng, Shen Zhenhua had to endure it, no matter how discouraging the words were.

Even today, Shen Zhenhua could recount how Song Minghe used to compare Su Changfeng and his son, saying his son Song Yang was a dragon in the sky while Su Changfeng was just a worm on the ground.

But now, who could still say that Su Changfeng was just a worm? Who would dare speak ill of him behind his back? In Jiang City, Su Changfeng got whatever he wanted.

Leaning on his walking stick, Shen Zhenhua approached Song Minghe with a smile, ”Old Tang, it’s been a long time! Why are you standing at the entrance? You could have contacted me earlier so we could catch up inside.”

Hearing this, Song Minghe’s face was rather ashen. Sure, he thought of reconnecting at the Hilton Hotel, but what could he rely on now? He was flat broke and unemployed, while everyone attending the banquet was one of the top figures in Jiang City.

”Shen Zhenhua, you’re quite different now. You’re one of the big shots in Jiang City, and it’s hard for someone small like me even to meet you,” Song Minghe said awkwardly.

Shen Zhenhua had been seriously ill not long ago, staying in the hospital, and Song Minghe couldn’t meet him. Rumors had it that Shen Zhenhua was getting aloof due to Su Changfeng’s elevated status. But that wasn’t the case.

”You’re jesting a bit. While my status is not what it used to be, we’re all old friends with many years of friendship. I’ve remembered it all. If it weren’t for my illness not long ago, I’d have called you all out for drinks and chess games,” Shen Zhenhua said with a laugh.

”What! You were sick? How are you now?” Song Minghe asked, looking concerned.

Seeing this, Shen Zhenhua felt disdainful inside. This old thing must be seeking a favor; otherwise, he wouldn’t act this way. But Shen Zhenhua didn’t show his thoughts outwardly.

”Old Song, you never come without a reason. What’s your matter?” Shen Zhenhua asked straightforwardly.

Song Minghe glanced at Song Yang beside him, embarrassed, ”Zhenhua, I’m not just here to reminisce. I do need a favor. My worthless son has no company willing to hire him now. He’s become a jobless wanderer. Considering our years as classmates, could you help a bit?”

Song Yang was previously hired by Weishui Real Estate, but because of the conflict with Su Changfeng, they fired him to avoid upsetting Su Changfeng. This matter was well-known throughout Jiang City. No company would dare employ someone who had crossed Su Changfeng!
