My Mother-in-Law Gifted Me a Building

”Come on, Brother-in-law, you really don’t trust me?” said Su Jun.

In truth, Chu Feng was mainly worried that Su Jun was developing a drinking problem. It wasn’t good for him to be drinking so frequently.

After all, few women appreciate their husbands drinking.

Drinking too much was bad for your health, and it was easy to get into trouble.

The family enjoyed a happy and harmonious meal together.

Afterward, Chu Feng and Su Miaoke departed.

In the car, Su Miaoke was driving. ”Let’s go do some shopping,” she suggested.

Chu Feng nodded. ”You’re in charge.”

He had been drinking, so he couldn’t drive.

Su Miaoke drove straight to the mall and launched into another shopping spree, buying a wide variety of items—clothes, jewelry, and the like.

In any case, these were all gifts for their parents, and now that they both had money, Chu Feng didn’t object. As long as they liked something, regardless of the price, there was only one word for it: Buy!

After all, he didn’t feel the slightest sting spending money he had earned himself. But if he were just a freeloader using his wife’s money, Chu Feng would have felt more than a little guilty.

That’s just how it is for men in this society. With money, you have everything. Without it, you’re less than nothing.

Money makes a person much bolder.

After buying everything, the two returned to the factory. They still had some business to take care of there, and they also needed to pick up some clothes.

After grabbing a change of clothes and cleaning out the Alchemy Furnace, Chu Feng called over Wu Yongzhi and the others.

”Xiao Wu,” Chu Feng instructed, ”while I’m gone, you all need to patrol the workshop regularly. Don’t let rats get to the medicinal herbs, and be sure to turn on the ventilation at a set time each day.”

”Yes, President Chu. Are you going on a long trip?” Wu Yongzhi asked, noticing Chu Feng carrying luggage and the car’s trunk stuffed with things. It looked almost like they were moving.

”Yeah, I’m heading home for a trip. It’ll probably be for about a month. The weather’s getting hot, so take this money and install two air conditioners—one in the security office and one in the dorm. Otherwise, you won’t make it through a Beihai summer without AC,” Chu Feng said, handing two stacks of cash to Wu Yongzhi.

”Huh? President Chu, this...” Wu Yongzhi was surprised. ”Wouldn’t it be better to have the company arrange for someone to handle the purchase? How would we know which ones are suitable?”

He never expected Chu Feng to be so direct, just handing him thirty thousand yuan and telling him to handle the purchase himself.

”If you want to be comfortable, buy the more expensive ones. If you want to save some money, get the cheaper ones. It’s up to you. Whatever’s left over, just consider it a summer bonus for the three of you. You all work hard, you’ve earned it,” said Chu Feng.

”This... Isn’t this too much?” Wu Yongzhi muttered under his breath. He hadn’t expected Chu Feng to be so generous.

”Just take it,” Su Miaoke told Wu Yongzhi. ”We’ll need you to look after the place for the next month. If anything happens, call us anytime.”

”Yes, ma’am!” Wu Yongzhi gave Chu Feng and Su Miaoke a solemn military salute.

”Thank you, President Chu! Thank you, President Su!” Xiao Liu and Xiao Pan, who were standing nearby, also saluted respectfully.

The two of them were grinning from ear to ear.

Even installing the air conditioners would only cost five or six thousand at most. With over twenty thousand left, that meant each of them would get at least seven or eight thousand yuan.

You had to understand, they were only making ten thousand yuan a month watching the gate. With a single wave of his hand, Chu Feng had given them a summer bonus that was nearly a full month’s salary.

”Well, you guys keep up the good work. Do a good job, and I’ll give you a bigger year-end bonus,” Chu Feng said with a smile.

As Chu Feng and Su Miaoke got into the car, the three men maintained their respectful salute.

”It’s really true,” Wu Yongzhi said with a sigh. ”No matter what you do, you have to be dedicated. Love your work, and in the end, you’ll be rewarded.”

Xiao Liu and Xiao Pan, standing beside him, wholeheartedly agreed.

”This car is amazing. I wish I had one. It’s like the Mengshi from our army days—driving it would be so damn cool.” Xiao Liu’s mouth was practically watering as he stared at Chu Feng’s black, top-of-the-line G-Wagen.

After all, they were all ex-military. They loved this kind of wild, imposing vehicle, and weren’t particularly fond of sports cars or sedans.

They were much more drawn to off-road types that could basically go anywhere.

”Don’t worry. Keep up the good work, and you’ll have one someday,” Chu Feng’s voice drifted back after the car had driven more than ten meters away.

The three of them were stunned. They couldn’t believe Chu Feng could still hear them talking.

The roar of the G-Wagen’s engine should have completely drowned out the sound of their voices.

”Man, it’s good to be rich,” Xiao Pan sighed.

”Do you think our boss is an ordinary person?” said Wu Yongzhi. ”The three of us together couldn’t beat him. Even President Su—one-on-one, I’m not sure we could win against her now!”

”Are they really that strong?” Xiao Liu and Xiao Pan were shocked.

Wu Yongzhi nodded.

”Chief, if you hadn’t been injured because of me, you’d be even stronger. You wouldn’t have had to retire, and you’d definitely be a captain by now!” Xiao Liu said, his eyes dimming.

”If it had been you, you would have done the same thing without a second thought,” Wu Yongzhi sighed. ”Besides, the military these days wants highly educated elites. We’re part of a bygone era. Let’s not dwell on the past.”

”But...” Xiao Liu started to say.

”But nothing!” Wu Yongzhi cut in. ”Isn’t this great? A salary of ten thousand a month, plus all the benefits and a summer bonus—our income is way better than in the army. And I believe with a boss like Boss Chu, if we just keep working hard, we might get even better opportunities.”

”That’s true,” Xiao Liu and Xiao Pan both nodded in agreement.

They really were doing well for themselves. Many retired special forces veterans ended up as bodyguards or trying to start their own businesses, and not all of them earned as much as they did.

After all, starting a business was high-risk, and the chances of losing your entire investment were huge.

After leaving the factory, Su Miaoke drove directly to Chu Hao’s school.

Chu Hao wasn’t irresponsible like Su Jun. Ever since Su Jun had been held hostage at a casino, Chu Hao had rarely gone out with him. He was nearing graduation now and was focused on his studies.

”Xiao Hao, are you on break yet?” Su Miaoke asked after calling him.

”Sister-in-law, I am. I was just about to head home for a bit before coming back to look for a job,” Chu Hao said.

”That’s perfect. Your brother and I are heading to your school right now. Hurry up and pack your things; we can all go home together,” said Su Miaoke.

”Huh? You and my brother are going back too, Sister-in-law?” Chu Hao asked, pleasantly surprised.

”That’s right. It’s been a while, so we’re going back to see your parents. We’re almost at your school now. Which dorm building are you in?” Su Miaoke asked.
