Chapter 748: Larryʼs Dilemma

The Incubus System Chapter 738. Larryʼs Dilemma

Larryʼs PoV

Once Ethan left, Larry flopped onto his bed. Rather than engaging in his usual gaming session to escape reality, he found himself fixated on his bedroom ceiling. It seemed to mock him.

The way Ethan didnʼt even mention his injuries? That stuck with him—made all his doubts and worries hit even harder. Lying there, he watched the room grow darker, shadows stretching across the walls like the mess he was feeling inside.

”He didnʼt say a word about my injuries,” Larry whispered, the words barely escaping his lips.

The realization sent a shiver down his spine. A dull ache settled in his chest, a blend of sadness and frustration intertwining. ”Does that mean my suspicions were right? Is Ethan truly the great demon?”

Larryʼs suspicions began to take root the day before when he had returned from Ethanʼs house. It was then that he realized something peculiar. Ethan hadnʼt uttered a single word about his injuries. The wounds that had made him black and blue had been magically healed, thanks to one of the great demonʼs mysterious subordinates.

Even Mrs. Clea had been taken aback upon discovering Larryʼs miraculous recovery. She couldnʼt understand why the great demon would go to such lengths to heal him.

Ethanʼs weird lack of concern just made Larry even more uneasy. It was like the guy suddenly decided to forget everything that mattered. Trying to snap him out of it, Larry threw out a few jabs—hell, he even brought up Ruby. But Ethan didnʼt flinch. No reaction, no hint that he remembered any of it.

How could Ethan not even ask about his injuries?

How could he overlook the fact that they had vanished without a trace?

The questions gnawed at Larryʼs mind.

”If youʼre truly the great demon, why donʼt you just say it?” His voice, laced with a mixture of sadness and disappointment. It was as if he hoped the walls themselves would provide some answers, but they remained silent.

Suddenly, like the missing piece of a puzzle sliding into place. It all clicked. Of course—thatʼs how Ethan knew he was a demon hunter without Larry ever saying a word. The signs had been there, but he just hadnʼt seen them for what they were.

Larryʼs mind buzzed with thoughts.

The more he thought about it, the clearer it became—Ethan had changed. Not just mentally or emotionally, but something way deeper. It was like he wasnʼt even human anymore, like heʼd crossed over into something straight out of the demon realm.

The pieces of the puzzle fell into place, revealing a disturbing truth... Ethan had become a demon himself.

That hit Larry hard. His chest felt heavy. What the hell had happened to Ethan? How did things get this twisted?

The revelation pressed upon Larryʼs shoulders. It wasnʼt just a shock—it was personal. Ethan had been his friend, someone he trusted. Now? Now he was something else entirely. Larry couldnʼt stop thinking about what mightʼve caused it. Was it a curse? A possession? Some freak spell gone wrong?

Was it a result of a dark spell gone wrong? Or perhaps some malevolent entity had seized the opportunity to possess Ethanʼs soul and turned him into one of them? Was that the reason why he helped humans?

Maybe that explained why Ethan acted so weird—like helping humans but staying distant, like he was stuck between two worlds. It made sense in a messed-up kind of way.

But despite the pain and confusion, Larry remained in his conviction that the Ethan he knew was the true Ethan, not the demonic façade.

No matter what had changed on the outside, Larry refused to believe that Ethan was completely gone. Deep down, he had to still be in there—some part of him had to still be real.𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

Larryʼs heart sank. ”Right... of course.” The realization hit him hard, cementing the fact that he and Ethan were now on opposing sides, even if it was a truth he desperately wished to deny.

Larry turned around and cast his gaze upon ʼNana-chan,ʼ his beloved anime girl body pillow. Staring back at him was a demon hunter uniform inside of it.

”What should I do... Can we be friends even under these circumstances?” he muttered.

His heart ached with conflicting emotions.

On one hand, there was an overwhelming urge to confront Ethan, to demand answers.

But on the other hand, fear whispered in his ear, reminding him of the dangers if he tried to expose Ethanʼs secret identity.

A fresh wave of anxiety hit Larry as he thought about what this could mean for the demon hunter organization. Just imagining their reaction made his skin crawl. These guys werenʼt exactly famous for being chill or forgiving. If they found out Ethan had turned into a demon, Larry had no doubt theyʼd come down on him hard, no questions asked.

Taking a deep breath, Larry tried to steady his racing thoughts. ”For the time being, I should keep this to myself,” he muttered. He knew it was not a long-term solution, but it bought him time, time to gather information, plan his next move, and how he should react to this.

Still, his mind swirled with questions. When would be the right time to confront Ethan? How could he ensure his friendʼs safety in the face of a relentless demon hunter organization?

Larry knew that he couldnʼt remain silent forever, that the truth had to be revealed eventually. But he also knew that timing was crucial, that he had to choose his moment wisely.

But for sure… When the time had come, he knew which side he had to side with.
