My Youth Began With Him

“I mean emotionally as compared with before she came back.”

“Now that you mention it, I do think she’s a bit different. She’s low in spirits… But it’s understandable. After all, she went through a lot of things.”

“Su Yu, only you, Mian, and Huo Siqian were at the gas station when the explosion happened. But Huo Siqian is dead and I can only ask you or Mian about the details of that day’s events. But you know Mian’s low in spirits and I don’t dare to mention that day’s events in front of her. So, can you tell me all the details of that day’s events until the explosion in the gas station?”

“Okay. Let me think.”

At Qin Chu’s request, Su Yu tried his best to recall all the things that had happened on that day; he even told Qin Chu about how they hid in an old grandma’s home and ate corn paste.

Qin Chu listened quietly.

“After the explosion, we woke up in the hospital. That’s all that had happened.”

“Okay, I got it.”

“What? Have you found new clues?” Su Yu asked, feeling Qin Chu had something on his mind.

“No. It’s just my curiosity. Let’s eat.”

“Okay.”

“After you came back, did Mian mention sending for that old grandma and the young girl?”

“I almost forgot. We indeed made the promise. Mian said she wanted to thank them properly. But I forgot about it after we came back. No, I must send for them now.”

“No. I’ll handle it,” Qin Chu offered.

“Um… Are you sure?”

“Yeah. I want to do it to relieve the burden on her mind.”

“Good.”

Su Yu thought Qin Chu had a point.

Then the waiter brought dishes to the table and they began to eat slowly.

From Su Yu’s words, Qin Chu knew that the woman wearing the golden mask was with them before the big explosion.

They had done DNA tests on the remains of Huo Siqian and the other victims in the explosion, but Qin Chu remembered clearly that the police in Yunnan told him that the remains all belonged to males.

In other words, the body of the golden-masked woman wasn’t found after the explosion.

Su Yu had emphasized that Huo Siqian had stood very close to the golden-masked woman, but she had just vanished and wasn’t killed by the big explosion.

How did she manage it?

Did it mean that… the woman in his home… was…?

The more he thought about it, the more terrified he felt. If the woman in his home was truly the golden-masked woman, she was very powerful. After all, she could get out of the explosion easily and bought out the doctors in the hospital within a very short period of time.

She even brought a dead baby to fool them with an induced abortion ruse.

It was a big conspiracy…

The more he thought about it, the less of an appetite he had.

He barely touched his rice, but Su Yu had a good appetite.

“Qin Chu, Mian told me that there’s something wrong between you two.”

“She even told you this.”

“You can’t blame her. She felt sulky and complained to me. You’ve been with her for many years and know very well what kind of person she is… You have no reason to misunderstand her. You may misunderstand me for having designs on her, but you can never misunderstand her.”

“I’ve been with Mian since high school. I know my wife more than anyone else,” Qin Chu said, putting emphasis on each word.
