My Youth Began With Him

“My big brother can’t live without my sis-in-law…” Qin Ning said while crying.

“Ning-Ning, I know that Qin Chu loves Mian…” Tang Chuan tried to comfort her.

“No, you don’t understand… You don’t understand anything… You don’t know what my brother went through in the States…” Qin Ning lost control and shouted.

“What did he go through?” Su Yu heard the key message and looked up at Qin Ning.

Just then, the emergency room door opened.

“Young Master Su…” The doctor walked up to Su Yu.

Everyone surrounded the doctor too and awaited the results to be announced.

“Yes, Doctor He…”

Everyone, veteran or new, knew Su Yu at the Army Hospital because he had visited often with his grandfather ever since he was a little boy.

“Your friend’s condition… isn’t great…”

“How so?” Su Yu asked calmly.

Everyone’s heart sank when they heard this…

“We noticed that he was devastated by something and his body basically couldn’t handle whatever emotional impact he just suffered… That’s why he spat out blood and now is in a coma…”

“Yes… He has just been through a great calamity,” Su Yu explained.

“This, however, isn’t the most severe problem. We discovered that there is an unknown substance inside his body that has eroded into all his organs… The erosion has persisted for a long time so he had probably been using this substance for a prolonged period. Some of his organs are already dead…”

“What? That’s impossible…” Gao Ran was shook by the news. From his perspective, Qin Chu had always been a healthy person.

“That’s impossible, Doctor. There must be some mistake,” Tang Chuan said.

“No. After the bloodwork, we were able to find that unknown substance. We’ve done a CT on his liver. You guys can see for yourself…”

“Doctor He, what can we do now?” Su Yu was also in a panicking state.

He thought Qin Chu fell into a coma due to the shock from Huo Mian’s incidence but would recover very soon after some rest.

To everyone’s surprise, Qin Chu’s body was in such a terrible condition.

“From how his body’s condition is and the shock, his brain is in a deep coma now… We are unable to tell when he can wake up…” the doctor announced with slight guilt.

“What do you mean you don’t know when he’s going to wake up?” Zhu Lingling screamed.

“I’m sorry but we did our best. With his condition, there’s nothing we could do about it… To be frank, he could wake up in five days if he has the will, but otherwise, it might be five years… We don’t know.”

“Five years? So he’s a vegetable now?” Tang Chuan was also dumbfounded.

Qin Ning dropped to the ground and cried uncontrollably after the news.

“Yes. There’s a possibility that he won’t even be able to wake up in three to five years. He may never wake up… We really can’t say,” the doctor slowly said.

“How can this be?” Su Yu was dumbfounded and sank into the hospital bench.

No one spoke…

Zhu Lingling and Qin Ning’s cries echoed in the corridor. Their tears reminded everyone how heartbroken they were.

“Ning-Ning, what is this unknown substance your brother has been taking? You should know, right? Also, what happened during the four years your brother was in the States?” Su Yu turned over and asked Qin Ning solemnly.
