My Youth Began With Him

After an hour of resuscitation, Huo Yanyan’s breathing returned to normal.

But she was still delirious, and up to this point, no one had any idea what kind of drug Huo Siqian gave to Huo Yanyan.

The police station had summoned several military doctors with no results, and the only person that might be able to help – Huo Mian, was nowhere to be found.

Seeing Huo Yanyan lying lifelessly on the bed, a million thoughts ran through Shen Mingxi’s head.

Up to this point, it was ridiculous to talk about love anymore. The feelings he had had for her had long been lost.

No matter how profound and deep the feeling of love once was, after each betrayal and lie, all that was left were shattered pieces.

In the present moment, Huo Yanyan was only an old friend, Tiantian’s mother, and that was about the only sympathy he had left to give now.

“Have you noticed anything strange recently?” Sheng Mingxi asked.

“No…I didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary…” the nurse recalled.

“Has she seen anyone? Or, has anyone visited her?” Shen Mingxi asked.

“None at all.”

“Okay, I understand.” Shen Mingxi and Tiantian stayed with Huo Yanyan till she fell asleep peacefully.

“Uncle Shen, is my mommy… okay now?” Tiantian asked in the car as they headed back.

“Yes, she will be fine.”

“Uncle Shen, can… can we come and visit her often?”

“Yes.”

“Uncle Shen… then what… what’s going to happen to me?” Tiantian asked, her eyes dimmed.

She didn’t understand all that was going on between the adults. But, judging by the current situation, her own mother could barely take care of her. Needless to say, Tiantian felt her future was undecided. Her biological father was nowhere to be found, and she had no other guardians. Who was going to take care of her?

Shen Mingxi’s heart throbbed as he heard Tiantian’s words. He lifted his hand and gently patted Tiantian on the head with his palm.

“Would you like to stay with Uncle Shen in the future?”

“Can I?” she bit her lip and confirmed carefully.

“Of course, as long as you want to,” Shen Mingxi added.

“I do!!” Tiantian always felt close to Shen Mingxi even though he was not her father. But to her, he was the only father figure she had in life. She was delighted at the idea that Uncle Shen would be taking care of her going forward.

– Shen Corporation –

Shen Mingxi took Tiantian with him to the company board meeting.

“You guys take care of her and get her some food. I will take her home once I finish my meeting,” Shen Mingxi said to his secretaries.

Right as he was about to leave, he bumped into his mother.

“Son, wait up.”

“Mom, how come you’re here?”

“Son, you can’t keep this kid,” Shen Mingxi’s mother expressed her thoughts strongly.

“Mom… Now is not the time.”

“Is it because you still have feelings for Huo Yanyan?!” Mrs. Shen looked at her son angrily.

“No… Mom, we’ve broken all our ties… Now that she is in a mental state where she can’t take care of herself or the child, I can’t just watch the child become homeless,” Shen Mingxi explained.

“If that’s the case, then it’s an easy problem to solve. If you don’t have the heart to just not do anything, then send her to an orphanage. Or, we can help her find a new home and have her adopted.”

“No,” Shen Mingxi rejected his mother directly. There was no way he was sending her to an orphanage to have her adopted… He didn’t have the heart to watch that happen.

“Son, don’t be a fool. You’re still single; you can remarry and have a kid. It’s not like she’s your kid, why do you insist on keeping her? You’re only bringing yourself more trouble! Don’t you want to make up with Ying-Ying? You think she will accept Huo Yanyan’s daughter?” Mrs. Shen said sternly.
