My Youth Began With Him

Shen Mingxi struggled for a long time, trying to decide whether or not to dial Wei Ying’s number and say thank you to her.

But he couldn’t bring himself to say it, because this time Wei Ying risked her life to donate her blood to save him. If he only said “thank you” over the phone, it would be too heartless.

In the end, Shen Mingxi did not dial Wei Ying’s number.

Instead, he posted a message on WeChat.

Disappointment is accumulated day by day. Leaving is the hardest decision. If only you could delete those feelings like you delete a text message. You could delete the person you like, and the moment you delete her, you think you would finally get relief. But, it would be endless sadness. I didn’t give up on you, but rather I let myself go. I just pretended that the wind didn’t blow. You never came, and I never loved. –

Shen Mingxi was not a literary guy, so he rarely sent out such posts.

Most of his posts were related to work. Guys were not like girls, who liked to post about food.

Guys had their own interests…

Before, Shen Mingxi had posted about Wei Ying too, and then also little Tiantian. He really treated her like his own child.

It was a pity that now…

Shortly after Shen Mingxi sent out his post, dozens of responses appeared on his feed.

Tang Chuan commented, “Shen, dude, you’re talented.”

Shen Mingxi replied, “I’m just in a mood. I found these sentimental phrases online. My own writing isn’t that good.”

Later, his post was somehow circulated and fell into the hands of a friend of Huo Yanyan.

That friend took his post and showed it directly to Huo Yanyan.

After reading it, Huo Yanyan naturally felt uneasy.

“Yanyan, are the two of you really over for good? Young Master Shen seems really hurt…”

Huo Yanyan responded deliberately in disdain, “Why do I care?”

“Uh, actually, Young Master Shen is a pretty good guy. He’s handsome and rich. Besides GK Corporation’s President Qin and Imperial Star’s President Su, President Shen is my favorite… you don’t know how lucky you were.”

“I didn’t think of it as lucky. He was just a man who was greedy and afraid of death. Nothing to feel bad about. There are so many men out there. All you have to do is reach out and grab one,” Huo Yanyan said in a fit of pique.

“Yanyan, are you in a bad mood? Do you want to come out for a drink?” the woman asked.

“It’s okay, my daughter is alone at home, I can’t just leave her by herself. You guys go.”

Saying this, Huo Yanyan butted out the cigarette in her hand, started the car, and went home.

When she got home, Tiantian was already asleep.

Huo Yanyan, on the other hand, wasn’t the least bit sleepy. She looked at the screenshot of Shen Mingxi’s post that had come from out of nowhere which her friend had sent her, and her heart was stuffed with panic.

Then, she began to take out her cigarettes and smoke them one by one.

In the end, Huo Yanyan also took out her cell phone and wrote a post that only she and Shen Mingxi could see.

But she knew that Shen Mingxi had blocked her and could not see it.

She posted:

What does it feel like to be blocked by someone you love? In fact, a tearful love letter is the chat history of all the couples from before their break up. Going from talking about everything to not talking at all, what kind of cruel mental journey is this? Every sweet nothing has become ridiculous. Every kiss and expression of love has become so ironic. Even if there is a lot of sadness in my heart and I know that I am wrong, it is too late. I understand that in this lifetime, this is where we go our separate ways. This is all the two of us can do. Never again will we have the chance to say ‘I love you’, this simple phrase…

After typing this post, Huo Yanyan gently pressed “publish”, but discovered that at that moment, she was already in tears.

In fact, she wasn’t at peace. Love was a double-edged sword. Shen Mingxi was heartbroken, and she wasn’t doing so great herself…

“Mom, why are you crying?” Tiantian had woken up without her knowing, and she was quietly whispering to her mother.
