My Youth Began With Him

“Right. Huo Yanyan has lost her mind. I heard that she took Shen Jiani’s body to South Side and caused a scene. If you were there, things would get out of control. Besides, you are pregnant and can’t get into a fight or see a dead body. I was afraid it would disturb you emotionally.”

“Oh, that… Don’t worry. I’m a doctor, not a little girl. I see lots of bodies each day and feel nothing about them… But, Huo Yanyan is indeed hysterical. She has entered a zone of her own and blames us for all the unfortunate things that have happened to her. She doesn’t remember what harm and damage that she, her mother, and her younger brother have done to us. In a way, she’s miserable.”

“I don’t care if she’s miserable or not; I only care about you and our kids… To stay away from the conflict, I hope you can take a week off so you can rest at home and stay with our kids. Do you agree?”

“Take leave now?” Huo Mian felt torn. After all, the workload at South Side was great each day, and it wasn’t a good time for her to take a leave of absence.

However, seeing Qin Chu’s big warm hand on the back of her hand, Huo Mian’s attitude softened.

She wasn’t an iron woman who would discard her family for her career.

Huo Mian thought her biggest happiness came from her husband and their kids

Women, no matter how strong they were, would eventually return to the family.

Even though she knew it wasn’t good for the hospital, she nodded obediently.

“Okay. Honey, I’ll call Director Wu and ask for one week off. I’ll return after the worst passes.”

“Good girl. Thumbs-up for you.” Qin Chu smiled from the bottom of his heart, just like a little boy.

He pinched Huo Mian’s nose tip gently and lovingly.

After noodles, they returned to South Hill Manor.

The twins were eating fresh fruits in the living room. Crossing her leg, Little Bean was eating strawberries and video chatting with Gao Boyuan at the same time; she didn’t greet her parents.

“Where are Grandpa and Grandma?”

“They went fishing at an agritainment resort and said they would spend the night there,” Pudding said.

“Where’s Auntie?” Huo Mian asked.

“Auntie won’t be back until 11 pm. I think if she continued to hang out with Uncle Tang, she’d be swallowed by him… If that happens, she wouldn’t come back for the night. Mom, you’d better not hold high hopes for Auntie,” Little Bean interrupted.

Huo Mian: “…”

“Mom, you’re early today.” Pudding checked the time on her cellphone and found her mom had come home earlier than usual.

“Right. From now on, your mommy is taking a one-week leave and will keep you company at home.”

“Are you serious?” Little Bean cocked her head to show her disbelief.

“Did I ever lie to you?” Huo Mian chuckled in exasperation.

“You did the right thing… You should have done it long ago. I’m telling you… Although we know you are doing it for the sake of the little brother or sister in your tummy, we are still happy to see you take a leave,” Pudding said sincerely.

“Um… Aren’t you overreacting a bit?” Huo Mian was embarrassed.

“Of course we’re not. The odds of seeing Mommy taking a week off is the same as the odds of seeing a meteorite shower. No, a tornado. No, um… Let me think…” Little Bean was excited.

“Stop it. If you continue like this, you’d say the end of the world. Your mom is just taking a leave for one week. Now tell me where you’d like to go now that I’ve time…” Taking off her coat, Huo Mian walked over, sat down between the twins and took them into her arms as her heart filled with joy.
