Chapter 2303: Continued Assault (Part 2)

...

BOOOOM!

A massive explosion erupted as the powers of ice and fire violently ravaged the surroundings before surging into the sky, spiraling and intertwining with each other.

They resembled a pair of divine beasts dancing through the heavens as they circled one another.

Roar! Shriek!

The roar and cry of the two divine beasts reverberated throughout the area, shaking the entire fortress to its foundations.

Shing!

However, the two dancing beasts were suddenly cleaved in half as a massive crescent-shaped wave flew into the sky, splitting apart the pillar of ice and fire produced by their collision.

BOOM!

Immediately afterward, a figure suddenly shot out from the chaotic storm of mana left behind by the previous explosions.

Donato flew straight toward Shin, who was still hovering high above the battlefield, dragging his massive battle axe behind him and leaving a long trail of crimson mana in his wake.

The damage Donato had suffered from the earlier attacks was clearly visible across his battered body.

Scorch marks and frostbite covered his body, further aggravating the injuries inflicted by the previous three-pronged assault.

The additional wounds made his already battered appearance look even more severe.

Yet despite his condition, the damage was not fully reflected in the enormous HP Bar hovering above his head.

It remained in a relatively healthy state despite the devastating attacks he had endured.

The coordinated assault from Diablo, Owen, and Felix had reduced Donato’s HP by roughly a quarter, while Shin’s attack had dealt only slightly less damage.

That meant Donato still had a little more than half of his total HP remaining.

Roar!

Donato suddenly opened his mouth and unleashed a beastly roar that shook the entire battlefield, affecting everyone caught within its range.

However, Shin, who was currently in the Descent of the Fallen God state, remained completely unaffected.

The combination of his powerful willpower and the enhancement provided by his current state was more than enough to withstand the mental attack hidden within Donato’s roar.

Seeing the Fortress Master flying straight toward him, Shin swiftly rotated the [Permafrost] in his left hand.

He twisted his wrist, causing the segmented whip blade to spin through the air before him while releasing a powerful current of icy energy.

’Four Symbol Scripture: Heavenly Black Tortoise – Polar Glacier of Northern Heavens’

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

A massive block of ice immediately appeared before Shin.

It rapidly expanded outward, transforming into a colossal glacier that looked like a small mountain before crashing straight toward the approaching Donato.

Whoosh!

Seeing the enormous glacier bearing down on him, Donato tightened his grip around his battle axe with both hands.

He then suddenly swung the weapon downward with all his might.

SHING!

The colossal glacier was instantly cleaved in half by the devastating strike.

The resulting shockwave spread in every direction, shredding the massive chunks of ice and crushing them into countless fragments.

BOOM!

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Donato continued charging upward as the shattered fragments of the glacier rained down from the sky.

However, the moment the cover provided by the colossal glacier disappeared, Donato was immediately greeted by another attack from Shin.

Shin swung the blazing [Yamato] repeatedly, sending waves of scorching energy downward.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

The blazing crescents rained from the sky like a massive storm of fire, seemingly intent on annihilating everything in their path and reducing the entire world to ashes.

’Four Symbol Scripture: Celestial Vermilion Bird – Phoenix Nest’

At the same time, the [Permafrost] in Shin’s left hand transformed into countless blurs as he swung it repeatedly.

Shing! Shing! Shing!

The segmented icy whip blade transformed into countless flashes of ice that descended from the sky, filling the air with icy mist and instantly freezing anything that stood in their way.

’Four Symbol Scripture: Heavenly Black Tortoise – Serpent Tail’

Shing! Shing! Shing!

The blazing crescents and icy flashes intertwined as they descended, filling the sky with terrifying elemental power.

They rained down upon Donato, who continued charging straight toward them.

Seeing this, Donato gritted his teeth and repeatedly swung his battle axe, meeting the descending attacks head-on.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

A series of explosions erupted across the sky as the two sides repeatedly clashed.

Amid the relentless exchange, Donato suddenly sensed an impending danger surrounding him from every direction.

He immediately swept his gaze across the battlefield.

Only then did he realize that countless shadowy bats had appeared around him, each one suddenly transforming into a humanoid figure.

’Vampiric Ability: Dark Phantom – Mirror’

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

Within an instant, the shadow bats transformed into countless copies of Alucard, each wielding a blood-forged sniper rifle.

Clank! Clank! Clank!

All the copies simultaneously aimed at Donato, who was already trapped within Shin’s bombardment, before pulling their triggers.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Crimson flashes filled the sky as the sniper rifles fired almost simultaneously, sending a barrage of devastating shots toward Donato.

Faced with such an overwhelming predicament, Donato was forced to focus entirely on defense.

He gripped his battle axe with both hands and began spinning rapidly in midair, generating a terrifying momentum around his body.

BOOM!

A massive tornado suddenly formed around him, devouring the falling flames and icy flashes along with the incoming hail of crimson bullets.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The violent clash continued for several seconds before both sides finally exhausted their respective attacks and the battlefield briefly fell silent.

BOOM!

Donato then fell from the sky, generating another powerful shockwave as his feet hit the ground and carving out yet another massive crater.

However, he barely had time to steady himself before another coordinated assault was already waiting for him.

Owen, Diablo, and Felix immediately charged forward, unleashing their most advanced techniques and strongest attacks without holding anything back.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Meanwhile, Felicia focused on controlling the battlefield while supporting the others with her buffs.

Samael likewise continued moving across the battlefield, constantly healing his allies and periodically reinforcing them with his other Auxiliary Skills.

The group had no intention of giving Donato even a moment to catch his breath.

BOOM!

Yet despite their relentless assault and seamless coordination, the Fortress Master continued to give them tremendous trouble.

Donato wasn’t merely resisting their attacks. He was giving them a genuine battle.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

BOOM!

The intense battle continued for several more moments, further destroying this section of the fortress, which had already been reduced to ruins by their previous exchanges.

Despite his overwhelming strength, Donato was still fighting alone.

There was only so much he could endure against the combined might of so many monstrous opponents.

All he could do was resist death and delay the inevitable.

However, even that had its limits.

It wasn’t long before Donato began losing ground under the group’s relentless assault.

”You pests are forcing me to do this!” Donato roared as he unleashed a furious barrage of attacks, forcing everyone around him to retreat.

He then reached into his pocket and took out a pill, swallowing it without the slightest hesitation.

”I was planning to use this to attempt my breakthrough to the next realm,” Donato said as he glared at the seven people surrounding him. ”But I guess you pests really leave me no choice.”

Owen couldn’t help but raise his brows upon seeing the Fortress Master swallow an unknown pill. ”Ah! That pill...”

He suddenly wore a strange expression. ”Don’t tell me this is one of those desperate power-ups that villains in those stories always use whenever they’re about to lose?”

He clicked his tongue, especially after sensing the sinister aura beginning to radiate from Donato. ”Don’t tell me he’s about to break through to the Tier 4 Realm!?”

”We’re inside a game...” Alucard tilted his head slightly as he spoke through the party channel. ”Isn’t it normal for Final Bosses to have a power-up whenever they enter a new phase?”

”Then... shouldn’t we stop him from transforming?” Samael asked innocently.

In his mind, the solution seemed rather obvious. They simply had to interrupt the boss before he could complete his transformation and successfully break through.

However, the moment Samael finished speaking, he suddenly felt several strange gazes directed toward him.

He turned around and found everyone staring at him with odd expressions.

Samael immediately felt uncomfortable. He swallowed hard before stammering, ”Did... did I say something wrong?”

Silence answered him.

That only made him feel even more awkward.

After a moment, Owen finally spoke. ”Brat! The villain entering a new phase is the most interesting part!”

The others didn’t say anything, but their expressions seemed to tacitly agree.

Even Alucard nodded. ”New phase means stronger opponent.”

”And a stronger opponent means a better battle!” Owen laughed before eagerly adding, ”It’ll be much more thrilling that way!”

BOOM!

As if responding to Owen’s words, the terrifying pressure radiating from Donato suddenly erupted.

The overwhelming surge of power instantly pushed him infinitely closer to the boundary of the Tier 4 Realm.

Unfortunately, being close was still not enough.

”Tsk! Tsk! Did he fail?” Owen asked, sounding slightly disappointed.

Diablo shook his head. ”It’s not like that.”

”He seems to be missing one final step,” Felix added, having noticed something unusual about the transformation.

The group carefully observed the transforming Fortress Master for several moments before Shin finally gave the signal.

He stepped forward, a devious grin appearing beneath his mask. ”Since he’s missing that final step...”

His gaze sharpened. ”...Then let’s try giving him one final push.”
