Child of Destiny

Chapter 678: The Battle God ʼSickariusʼ

...

”Are you sure about this Chairman?” asked Yasmin Cortez, the head of the PR Team of the World Gaming Organization. She was quite confused about the chairmanʼs decision.

”Isnʼt it going to be a little unfair to the other Godlike Players?” she asked to make sure that she didnʼt hear wrong.

Unfortunately, there was nothing wrong with her hearing as the chairman suddenly sneered. ”If they are unsatisfied with it, then just ask them if they can also defeat Immortal three times or win against Justin in a deathmatch battle.”

Yasmin was suddenly dumbstruck when she heard those words. After all, there were only a very few numbers of players who would dare to claim that they could also do such an incredible feat.

Unable to find any words to refute, Yasmin couldnʼt do anything but comply with the chairmanʼs words. ”I will immediately make the announcement on the gameʼs official website, Sir!”

When Yasmin left the office, the chairman quickly asked the AI of his room to turn off the lights before asking. ”What is next on our schedule, Chronos?”

In the meantime, Shin was immediately sent out of the battle right after the match ended. But before he could even do his usual routine of reviewing his previous performance right after the match, he suddenly received a request for a direct message.

He took a quick glance at the system notification to see who was the person that was sending the request. But he immediately frowned his eyebrows the moment he saw the name of the person who was requesting the direct message.

Regardless, Shin still accepted the request to see what that person was trying to say. And right after he accepted the request, he immediately received a message from the latter.

Justin: Are you mocking me?

Seeing that message, Shin couldnʼt help but repeatedly shook his head while wearing a bitter smile before replying.

Sickarius: Donʼt misunderstand. If it is just me, then I will not spare your account, so that you will not be able to bother Cloe again.

Sickarius: You should thank her. Since she used to play with your team and your family is quite close to hers, she feels bad about your account being deleted.

Sickarius: But it doesnʼt mean that you can appear in front of her again. Because if you do, I will make sure that you regret that decision.

Justin read that series of messages with a solemn expression on his face. And even if he wanted to refute them, he couldnʼt find the right words to deny what Shin had said since he was clearly the loser of the previous match.

All he could do was endure the humiliation and bide his time. He then closed the message panel and clenched his fists. The expression on his face was very solemn right now because even though he still had his level and his personally created skills, everything else was taken from him.

All of his ongoing quests and all of his equipment were taken away from him. It also included everything that was within his inventory.

The more he thought about it the more frustrated he became. ”D*mn it! I will make sure that you will regret this decision in the future!”

In the meantime, the members of his team were currently waiting for his orders. And based on the auras that they were currently emitting, it was pretty clear that each of them was eager to fight.

The group stayed silent for quite some time since they all knew that their commanders were currently in a very bad mood. But after a long time of waiting, Jugo finally ran out of patience and suddenly asked. ”Are we still not going to make our move? I canʼt wait to teach those guys a lesson!”

”Yeah~! I am also quite eager to see how strong these so-called Empyrean Talons that the Dragon God and War God have created for that girl to choose them over us,” said another member of the group.

Unfortunately, the response that they got was not something that they were expecting. ”Start packing up. We are going back.”

Huh!?

Everyone immediately turned their heads at their commander with an astounded look on their faces. In fact, they were thinking that they had heard him wrong.

Understanding what they were thinking, Justin quickly glared at them before saying. ”You guys know that I donʼt like repeating myself, do you?”

Seeing the current look on his face, the other members understood that their commander was about to erupt at any given moment. And even though he was currently not wearing any decent equipment, they could still feel the immense threat that was coming from his body.

ʼD*mn it! Just how did that guy manage to defeat a monster like our commander?ʼ thought Jugo to himself as he remembered what happened in the match earlier.

On the other hand, Elise suddenly pouted her mouth a little before asking. ”Then how about our preparations? Are we really scrapping everything just like that?”

”Didnʼt you hear the orders given to us? He said to start packing up, so it basically means to forget about our plans. Is it really hard to understand?” said the Dark Elf Master Archer of the group with a skeptical tone.

Hearing that, Elise suddenly threw a sharp glare in the direction where that Dark Elf was standing before saying sharply. ”Are you trying to pick a fight with me, Miriam?”

”Heh! Would you dare to accept it, if I am?” asked the Archer named Miriam.

”Thatʼs enough!” shouted Justin when he saw them about to start a fight. He shifted his sharp gaze between the two of them. ”You two can fight to your heartsʼ content when we are back to our hideout. But for now, we are going to retreat and prepare our next move.”

”We are accepting the offer from those people,” he added while turning his head to Jugo. ”Go visit those guys later and tell them that we are cooperating with them.”

”Huh!?” Jugo was suddenly taken aback by those words and unable to respond immediately as he was not expecting his commanderʼs sudden decision.

It was the same for the others. They were all looking at Justin with an astounded look on their faces.

Based on the expressions that they had, it was pretty clear that they were currently waiting for their team commander to explain himself.

Unfortunately, Justin just ignored the looks that they were making and said. ”I will take care of a few things in the real world, so I will not be able to come with you for now. But that doesnʼt mean that you can create a mess when Iʼm gone.”

”You better not create any trouble in my absence, or else-…” he added before pausing for a moment and releasing a dreadful aura from his body.

Bang!

The others suddenly felt the air around them suddenly turn heavy, making them have some trouble breathing.

Justin swept his gaze at them for a moment before logging out of the game while saying. ”I will be back, so do all the preparations until then.”

Swoosh!

Real World, Sun-Moon Continent

Justin walked out of his room and headed over to a particular study within their house. Inside, he saw a middle-aged man sitting behind the table and seemingly having a deep thought.

”Why are you here? If you are not here to discuss what Iʼve told you, then you better go back to your room before I lose my patience,” said the middle-aged man in a cold tone when he saw Justin entering the room.

Justin stared at him for a couple of moments before taking a deep breath, replying. ”I am going to do it, dad.”

The middle-aged man suddenly froze when he heard those words. He then looked at Justin with delighted eyes before asking once again. ”Are you sure?”

”But in one condition!” said Justin with a determined look on his face.

On the other hand, his father couldnʼt help but knit his eyebrows when he heard that. But he still let Justin talk to hear his son out. ”What is it?”

”I want-…”

While all of that was happening, Shin who was currently reviewing his performance in his previous match suddenly got a message from the system.

Ding!

System: Congratulations, Player Sickarius! Due to the amazing feats that youʼve achieved, the ʼGameʼ finally recognized your efforts. And as a reward, we are promoting you to the Godlike Rank.

System: After a heated debate and because of your sensational battles, we decided to bestow you the title of ʼBattle Godʼ.

Would like you to accept your title?

…

Shin stared blankly at the system notifications as he was not expecting it to receive his own Godlike Title this soon.

Regardless, he still hit the accept button in front of him without showing any hint of hesitation. He didnʼt care what he was called or what his title was, the only thing that was inside his mind right now was the thought that he finally caught up with Arthur and Leonard inside the game.

But little did he know that his actions immediately created another sensation that shook the entire gaming world. And because of that, different kinds of articles suddenly appeared in the online forums of the game and other social media platforms.

The titles of these articles were eye-catching as always.

”The fastest player to achieve the Godlike Rank!”

”From a Newbie to Gods, it only takes a few months!”

”A New God Is Born!”

Naturally, all of the players were discussing this topic the moment they saw the announcement posted by the World Gaming Organization itself. And to make it even more dramatic, the PR Team of the said company even released an article of their own with a dazzling title of-…

”The Battle God Sickarius.”
