Child of Destiny

Chapter 674: Deathmatch (Part 4)

...

The moment Shin and Justin stopped moving, all of the viewers watching the match unconsciously held their breaths at the same time as they all knew that the real battle was about to start.

”Hanzo!” muttered Shin all of a sudden as he transformed the sheath of his sword into a longsword. And immediately after that, his ʼAncient Void Spiritʼ broke free from the other specks of lights circling around Shin before fusing with that longsword, which also changed its appearance.

ʼLegacy Skill: Mondiʼs Style – Meteor Formʼ

ʼElemental Spirit Possession: (Void Reaper) Dimension Cutterʼ

Then Shin suddenly disappeared from his current position and reappeared right in front of his opponent while also swinging his swords at the same time.

But in that very moment, Justin was also swinging his glaive downwards, greeting his opponent with a surprise attack of his own. And on top of that, an incorporeal avatar suddenly appeared behind him while also mimicking his moments.

ʼElemental Guardian Fusion: Divine Generalʼ

Bang!

A powerful collision immediately happened once again right after their weapons clashed with each other. And just like earlier, the two of them managed to deal some damage to each other. But the gap between their respective strengths was quite close this time given that Shin currently had much better stats than earlier.

And that was only the start.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The two traded blows with each other by swinging their respective weapons as strongly as they could.

As always, a powerful shockwave was being sent in every direction every time their weapons clashed against each other. And because of those the terrain of their surroundings further changed, transforming it into a completely devastated place.

Their exchange of skills and combat techniques was slowly escalating to a higher level as time went by. Both Shin and Justin were showcasing their respective advantages.

Justin was practically showing the raw power and defensive capabilities of the warrior class with his straightforward attacks. He didnʼt seem to care that he was suffering more damage compared to his opponent. After all, that kind of trade was more favorable to him as long as he could also chunk Shinʼs HP Bar.

From time to time, he was also shifting his style from mainly using his glaive in the battle to the one that was heavily relying on his armored arm.

Shin didnʼt know exactly what it was, but he was really getting a very dangerous feeling coming from that demonic armored arm.

On the other hand, his battle style was continuously improving as the battle slowly progressed. At the same time, his movements were also getting more refined the more he became familiar with his newly improved stats. And because of that, his attacks were starting to put more pressure on his opponent the more their battle continued.

On top of that, Shinʼs complex attacking pattern was really giving his opponent a lot of trouble the longer their battle lasted.

Moreover, Shin was also using his flying daggers in the mix of his assaults whenever he got the chance to attack with them. And with their help, he was able to deal more damage on Justin, gaining himself a slight advantage in terms of DPS.

Bang!

Justin sent Shin flying in the air with one of his most powerful fist skills. But the Demon God was still wearing a deep frown despite him landing that hit. It was because his opponent was able to nullify all of the damage that he was supposedly going to deal on Shin.

In the meantime, Shin took a quick flip in the air to readjust his position. And while he was doing that, he was also changing the form of his left-hand sword into its whip sword form before fusing his ʼEldritch Shadow Spiritʼ with it. ”Grimrace!”

ʼLegacy Skill: Mondiʼs Style – Abyssal Formʼ

ʼElemental Spirit Possession: (Shadow Reaper) Soul Eaterʼ

After that, Shin quickly swung the whip sword downwards, targeting Justinʼs extended arm. And before Justin could even react, the blade of the whip sword was already wrapped itself on his wrist.

Seeing that, Justin immediately pulled his arm backward alongside the chained blades wrapped around his wrist.

Shin would naturally get dragged by it given that he was currently holding his whip sword with his left hand.

But he remained composed despite that being the case and let himself get dragged towards his opponent. In fact, he even adjusted his center of gravity to lighten his body, propelling himself towards his opponent with a much faster speed.

But obviously, Justin would not let Shin do what he was currently planning and quickly threw his glaive towards the latter.

ʼDivine Warrior Skill: (Modified) Javelin Throwʼ

Swoosh!

He timed his attack perfectly to make sure that Shin would not be able to dodge flying glaive easily nor deflect it with a sword swing.

But Shin also managed to read what Justin was thinking. And that was why he quickly released the ʼAbyssal Formʼ of the ʼMondiʼs Styleʼ and immediately used one of his movement skills to appear behind the latter.

ʼPhantom Swordsman Skill: Phantom Stepsʼ

But before Shin could even swing his sword on his opponentʼs back, Justin quickly spun around and threw his right-hand fist behind him without any hesitation.

Swoosh!

Unfortunately, he hit nothing but air as Shin already teleported himself on the other opposite once again with the help of another movement skill.

ʼElemental Skill (Void): Void Stepsʼ

But despite being in the perfect position to land a clean strike, Shin still didnʼt swing his sword yet and just squinted his eyes to look closely at his opponentʼs movements. And when he sensed the slightest threat coming from the latter, he would immediately change his location once more.

Just like what he was expecting, Justin suddenly extended his left arm towards him, seemingly trying to grab him with it.

For normal players, they were most likely going to either move backward or sideways to avoid that demon-like arm.

But for Shin could practically sense every movement within the range of his ʼSensing Circleʼ, that kind of move was a foolish choice. It was because he could sense the incoming glaive from behind and was also flying back to Justinʼs hands.

Being flanked by those two moves, Shin quickly transformed into a streak of light and passed through Justinʼs body, repositioning himself on the other side of his opponent.

ʼSlayer Skill: Moonlight Stepsʼ

Swoosh!

And that was when Shin swung the blazing [Yamato] at Justin with a very strong manner.

ʼExtra Skill: (Modified – Blazing) Destructive Slashʼ

Shinʼs movements were quite fast and made his opponent spin left and right, trying to catch him. And because of his quick changing of position, he managed to create a window where Justin was left unguarded by either glaive and demonic arm.

This very strike signaled the start of Shinʼs continuous assault.

He first transformed the sheath on his left hand into another form while also summoning one of his Elemental Companions. ”Vladimir!”

ʼLegacy Skill: Mondiʼs Style – Conviction Formʼ

ʼElemental Spirit Possession: (Blood Reaper) Blood Thirsterʼ

Right after the bloody rapier manifested on his left hand, Shin quickly thrust it forward and accurately hit his opponent on the chest to a continuous crowd-control skill.

Swoosh!

ʼExtra Skill: (Modified) Heart Seekerʼ

Puchi!

He then pulled the rapier out of his opponentʼs chest before stabbing it again multiple times and hitting all of the vital parts of his opponent with great precision.

Shu! Shu! Shu!

A large chunk of HP suddenly disappeared on Justinʼs Health Bar in an instant right after he got hit by that series of strikes.

It might be a little negligible because Justin currently had more than seventy million health points due to the mode of the match. But all of the audience couldnʼt help but gasp deeply the moment they saw the sudden drop of his Heath Bar. It was because this was the first time that one of them managed to land a clean on their opponent since the start of the match.

Moreover, Shin was obviously not done yet. In fact, every viewer knew that this was just the start. They already watched quite a lot of Shinʼs battles before, so they obviously knew some of the basic combos that he usually used in these kinds of situations.

But unlike what they were expecting, the development of the battle was not the same as what they had pictured inside their heads.

Justin was also a renowned expert and a top-notch player on top of that. So, he would obviously study his opponent a little before the start of the match. He might be looking down at Shin a little, but that didnʼt mean that he was going to overlook the fact that this particular guy was quite skilled.

Whatʼs more, both the Dragon God Siegfried and the War God Simba acknowledged him. So, he would naturally give Shin a little credit in this battle.

Given all of that, Justin was also somewhat familiar with the moves that Shin was usually used in battle.

He was also aware that even though those strings of attacks were quite fast and could deal a lot of damage, there was still a little gap between the transition of Shinʼs skills since the combo was currently lacking in terms of crowd-control skills.

It was because of this reason why Justin remained calm despite suffering a lot of damage from the previous series of attacks. And when he saw that Shin was already done with the first assault, the Demon God quickly revealed his fangs and immediately showed his countermove.

Bang!

First, the apparition of the golden-armored general behind him suddenly changed into an armored knight that seemed to be fully armed with a set of heavy armor. There was also a pair of huge shields on each of his hands, signifying that he was an Elemental Spirit that focused heavily in defense.

ʼElemental Guardian Fusion: Heavenly Protectorʼ

Boom!

Then Shin suddenly felt that he was hit by a huge sledgehammer as he was sent flying by the invisible wall of energy that came out from Justinʼs body.

ʼClass Fighting Style: Revenge Counterʼ

On top of that, Shin also suffered damage that took more than half of his current total HP. And such large damage made him wear a solemn look on his face. ”D*mn!”

Fortunately, he was able to recover most of it by using one of the Elemental Skills that he got from Whitie, immediately after he got hit by such a powerful counterattack.

ʼElemental Skill (Light): Regenerative Counterʼ

-------------------------

Skill Name: Regenerative Counter

Skill Type: (Active) Elemental Skill

Skill Rank: Special

Skill Details:

Restore 90% of the damage that you suffered from a powerful attack.

Note 1: This skill needed to be activated immediately after getting hit by the skill of your opponent.

Note 2: If the skill was not activated within a second after suffering the damage from your opponentʼs skill, then the restoration of your health would be a failure and the skill would start its cooldown.

Skill Cooldown: 20 minutes

------------------------------

It might be another broken skill that was added to his arsenal, which also had a pretty straightforward requirement for activation. But it also had an obvious weakness, he needed to activate the skill immediately after he got hit by a powerful skill. So, he obviously not be able to use it if he was immediately immobilized after getting hit by his opponentʼs skill.

Fortunately, most of the skills that could deal fatal damage didnʼt have any crowd-control effect, or else this skill was destined to be useless.

”That was close,” muttered Shin as he looked solemnly at Justin while also observing the new apparition behind him. ”So, I guess this one is meant for absolute defense this time. The one that he has earlier is obviously for offensive purposes.”

He stared at his opponent for a few seconds before shaking his head and muttering to himself. ”I think normal means are not going to work anymore. Especially that he seems to be quite familiar with most of my skills.”

He trailed his words in the air for a couple of moments before continuing. ”And from the looks of it, this Elemental Possession seems to be a tough nut to crack.”

”I guess I have no choice but to take out this big guy now,” he added while releasing the ʼConviction Formʼ of his ʼMondiʼs Styleʼ Legacy Skill and changing it to another form.

And when the viewers saw the new form of his left-hand sword, they couldnʼt help but gasp very deeply because they couldnʼt believe what they were seeing.

”Is this guy crazy!?”
