I Am Diagnosed as a Medical Titan

Chapter 72: Chapter 72: Bossing the Professor Around

Wang Xiaoqing recalled the phone call she’d had with her old classmate this morning.

”Xiaoqing, the patient was almost beyond saving, but guess what?”

”The patient’s boyfriend is also a clinical medicine student. He was going crazy, posting all over Dingxiang Garden asking for help.”

”He said a master named[Zhiyu]had recently appeared on the forums, active in the general surgery and emergency medicine sections, and had solved a lot of difficult and complex cases. The young man decided to give it a shot and sent a private message to this master with the patient’s medical records and all the test results.”

”And this morning, that Zhiyu replied, providing a complete treatment strategy. Our director took one look and realized it was actually viable.”

Her old classmate had sighed endlessly over the phone. ”Who on earth is this Zhiyu? This step-up approach... there’s no consensus on it in the country yet. It’s far too advanced.”

At that moment.

Standing at the lecture podium, Wang Xiaoqing’s palms were starting to sweat.

A step-up minimally invasive treatment strategy.

The words that came out of Jiang He’s mouth were exactly the same as what her old classmate had relayed.

An uncontrollable thought popped into her head:

’Could this Zhiyu, who’s been tearing it up on Dingxiang Garden, actually be Jiang He?’

’First, let’s analyze the name... Zhiyu... Hmm... The name itself has no connection to the name Jiang He whatsoever.’

’Second, my old classmate said that Zhiyu is very active on Dingxiang Garden and solves extremely tricky, real-life clinical cases.’

Jiang He was, after all, only a third-year undergraduate.

’How could a third-year student be tearing it up on the forums?’

’It makes no sense.’

’It’s probably not him.’

Then, only a second thought remained: Could Jiang He have seen this case online and just memorized the answer?

Wang Xiaoqing frowned slightly, dismissing that idea as well.

Her old classmate had been very clear: the boyfriend had sent a ”private message” to the master.

Since it was a private chat, it couldn’t have been posted publicly on the forum. There was no way Jiang He could have known about this case and its solution in advance.

So how could this be explained?

Wang Xiaoqing took a deep breath.

Could it be... great minds think alike?

A third-year student, relying on a solid foundation and astonishing medical intuition, had managed to deduce a treatment plan identical to that mysterious master’s advanced solution, just moments after hearing the case description?

Wang Xiaoqing wasn’t so sure anymore.

The other eight students in the classroom were staring at her intently.

She coughed lightly and said, ”Yes, that’s exactly right. Very well said. Come on, everyone, a round of applause.”

CLAP CLAP CLAP—

The others applauded.

Xu Chen, in the back row, looked rather displeased. He blurted out, ”Jiang He, how did you know how to solve that?”

The moment the words left his mouth, Xu Chen cursed himself internally.

’Damn it!’

’I just swore to myself that I would never, under any circumstances, proactively ask Jiang He another question!’

Xu Chen’s mind worked fast, though. Half a second later, he chose to answer his own question. ”It must be because you study so hard and always read the latest international journals, right? Haha, that’s it, I knew it. Heaven rewards the diligent.”

Tang Pei: ”?”

’What... is this guy doing?’

Pan Wen finally couldn’t hold it in any longer... ’That’s hilarious, Xu Chen! I’m not even mad at you anymore!’

Amid the crowd’s varied reactions, Jiang He was somewhat silent.

’Is the instructor asking about this because the person who messaged me today is her friend?’

’But... I’m not optimistic about the subsequent treatment...’

’The patient’s condition is critical, and the best window for treatment has already passed. Even though I gave them a strategy, it’ll still be incredibly difficult. Unless I did it myself...’

Shaking his head, Jiang He decided not to think about it for now.

He spoke up, ”Instructor, what’s next?”

Wang Xiaoqing was taken aback for a second. ”Oh, right... what’s next.”

She paused.

The thought in her mind grew stronger and stronger.

The more exceptionally Jiang He performed, the less she wanted to let him go!

’I so badly want to be Jiang He’s teacher!’

Wang Xiaoqing was someone who cherished talent. She normally detested teachers who deliberately used obscure and tricky questions to make things difficult for students.

But today, she had to make an exception.

She had to make things difficult for Jiang He!

She had to use a challenging practical clinical problem to trip him up.

As long as he made the slightest mistake in the practical assessment, she would have a perfectly valid reason to force him to stay in her class.

Having come up with a cunning plan, Wang Xiaoqing announced, ”Theory is just theory. Since you’re applying for an exemption, the standard for your practical assessment will naturally have to be several levels higher than usual.”

”Everyone, follow me to the advanced simulation operating room.”

Hearing this, everyone’s heart skipped a beat.

The advanced simulation operating room was a new, top-notch facility the department had just built, filled with imported equipment that cost hundreds of thousands apiece.

Pan Wen nudged Xu Chen and whispered, ”Senior, you should go head-to-head with Jiang He again later, okay? I wanna watch.”

Xu Chen remained expressionless. ”Mm, I’ll think about it.”

Pan Wen bit his lip. ’Damn it, hold it in, don’t laugh!’

They arrived at the room.

Inside stood a large medical cart, with a monitor hanging above it.

Below the cart was a silicone practice platform that simulated the human abdominal cavity.

Wang Xiaoqing walked to the platform and switched on the device’s power.

After pressing a few setting keys, she said:

”Jiang He, your practical exam question is blind vascular suturing in a deep, narrow space.”

As soon as she said this,

Pan Wen quickly lost his smile.

A ”deep, narrow space” in a clinical setting usually referred to locations that were extremely difficult to expose, like deep within the pelvis or the retrohepatic inferior vena cava.

When bleeding occurs in such a place, the field of view is extremely poor. Often, the bleeding point is impossible to see with the naked eye, forcing the surgeon to rely entirely on their fingers to touch and feel for it.

Then, within that severely restricted space, they had to perform precise needle handling, piercing, and knot tying.

This was a do-or-die situation in surgery. If a hand trembled or the suture wasn’t tight enough, simulated blood would instantly spray across the entire field of view, resulting in immediate failure of the assessment.

This was testing a third-year undergraduate using the standards for an Attending Physician. It was a nearly impossible task.

Wang Xiaoqing explained the rules, then asked, ”Can you stop the bleeding and complete the suturing within ten minutes?”

Jiang He nodded. ”I can.”

Of course he could.

To him, this was just a basic skill.

Compared to the real Hell, this clean and tidy simulator in front of him was practically a child’s toy.

Jiang He went to wash his hands first.

Even though it was just a simulated surgery, his attention to detail was impeccable.

Even Wang Xiaoqing, who wanted to make things difficult, couldn’t find a single fault.

After washing his hands, he put on his gloves.

Jiang He walked to the operating platform, extended a hand almost by instinct, and said, ”Non-toothed forceps.”

Huh?

Wang Xiaoqing froze, looking at the direction Jiang He’s hand was pointing.

’Is this kid talking to me? Does he expect me to pass him the instrument?’

’Unbelievable.’

Wang Xiaoqing passed him the non-toothed forceps.

Without looking up, Jiang He said, ”Needle holder.”

Wang Xiaoqing: ”?”

’This kid... Is he ordering me around this casually?’

Jiang He had actually realized his slip of the tongue, but since it already happened, he figured he might as well roll with it. No need to get hung up on it.
