I Am Diagnosed as a Medical Titan

Chapter 65: Chapter 65: Daily Small, Certain Happiness

The paperwork for the thesis was still being processed.

Back at the university, everyone was still reeling from the shock of Jiang He, a third-year student, taking first place in the competition.

It wasn’t just the medical students from every year who found it unbelievable. Even the university president heard about it and made a special call to the clinical medicine department to inquire about the details.

On the Southern Medical Tea House forums, the discussion about Jiang He remained a hot topic.

The reply count in the stickied thread was increasing by the dozens, sometimes even hundreds, every day.

Fourth and fifth-year students were seriously dissecting the details of his suturing technique from the final round, while many others were frantically searching the thread for Jiang He’s personal information.

Someone posted a thread offering a hefty reward for Jiang He’s QQ number, hoping to find out if he was single. They openly declared their love for ”academic powerhouses” and wanted to date him.

Others took a different approach, claiming to have a difficult case involving common bile duct stones and wanting to meet Jiang He for coffee to discuss academic matters in depth.

However, Jiang He, the man at the center of the storm, paid no mind to the commotion.

He remained, as ever, unassuming, dedicated, and diligent.

He sifted through data from a mountain of dense English articles, diligently researching, taking notes, and mapping out experimental procedures.

Jiang He didn’t return to his dorm until late at night, when the closing bell of the library finally rang.

In the dorm room.

Chen Hao, Wang Bo, and Li Zijian were also busy with their own studies.

Jiang He smiled upon seeing them.

’Regardless of the final outcome, I love this atmosphere of everyone grinding it out to the very end.’

People always say you should use your university years to enjoy life—date, play games, and not work yourself to death.

But he thought this was pretty good, too.

’I just feel... when it’s time to put in the effort, you have to go for it. That way, you won’t have any regrets.’

「Early the next morning.」

The first thing Jiang He did upon opening his eyes was pick up his phone to look at the photo of himself and Teacher Shen.

Seeing Shen Yu in the photo with her hands shaped like guns and a radiant smile on her face, Jiang He couldn’t help but let his eyes soften.

After unlocking his phone, he saw a whole slew of daily updates from Teacher Shen.

Dr. Jiang, I beat you again and woke up earlier! I’m so diligent!

I went to feed Tuanzi again today. Its appetite has really grown lately, so cute! I feel like its little belly is a whole size rounder!

Oh, and I’ve been thinking really hard about this. I’m going to start training Tuanzi to climb trees today. Just think, if it learns how to climb, it won’t panic and fall out of a tree the next time it runs into a dog! Aren’t I brilliant?

Jiang He smiled.

Reading these little snippets of happiness from Shen Yu’s daily life always filled him with motivation for the entire day.

After carefully replying to every one of Shen Yu’s messages, Jiang He finally got out of bed to wash up.

Once he’d washed up and changed into his workout clothes, he headed straight downstairs to the track.

In the early morning air of Southern Medical University, there was the faint, clean, bitter scent of camphor trees.

Jiang He began to jog along the red rubber track.

Feeling the vigorous heartbeat pounding in his twenty-something-year-old body, Jiang He’s gaze was perfectly serene.

Tackling the miRNA early screening project for pancreatic cancer was going to be a long war of attrition, one that would drain not only his mental energy but also test his physical stamina.

He had to keep his body in good shape; it was the foundation for all his plans.

He couldn’t very well collapse in the lab before the project was even finished.

He had to be healthy first. Only then could he change the future.

After finishing his five-kilometer run, Jiang He, now lightly sweating, turned and headed for the cafeteria.

As he was getting his food, he got the vague feeling that someone was following him from a short distance.

Sure enough, just as he sat down, a girl with straight-cut bangs sat across from him.

The girl was clutching her chopsticks with both hands, her nervousness obvious in her slightly tensed shoulders.

”Are... are you Jiang He?”

Jiang He nodded calmly. ”Yes.”

The girl rushed out her words. ”Hi! I think you’re incredible. I... I’d like to get to know you. Could I... could I have your QQ number?”

This kind of straightforward confession, which took immense courage in this day and age, made the guys at the surrounding tables turn to look.

Jiang He shook his head. ”Sorry, I’m already seeing someone.”

The girl shot to her feet. ”Oh! Oh, I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to bother you!”

With that, she picked up her tray and fled.

Jiang He didn’t pay it any mind; he was used to this sort of thing. But it did suddenly make him want to tease Shen Yu a little.

It had been the same during his internship in his past life. Because he was skilled in his specialty and wasn’t bad-looking, there were always new nurses or doctors in training confessing their feelings to him, both openly and covertly.

He would go home and tell Teacher Shen all about it, treating the stories like jokes.

Sometimes, he’d get a particularly outrageous one—someone who knew full well he had a wife but would still offer to be his mistress. After hearing about it, Teacher Shen would puff out her cheeks in a huff, plant her hands on her hips, and pace around the living room, declaring that she was about to throw a tantrum.

In reality, Shen Yu was never truly angry. She trusted Jiang He more than anyone and knew he would never do anything with another girl.

She just used jealousy as an excuse to act cute and get Jiang He to dote on her. The two of them had great fun playing these little games.

Unfortunately, their relationship wasn’t at that stage yet. They hadn’t even made things official.

If he told Teacher Shen about this now, she would probably get upset and cry.

’Nope, can’t do that. Absolutely not.’

’Sigh... I wonder when I’ll get to see Teacher Shen again.’

’I can’t hold back much longer, I really want to confess to her. Damn it.’

After breakfast, Jiang He showed up at the library right on time.

He didn’t have to go to class today, either.

Neither his academic advisor nor his course instructors had any objections. They granted him an exemption from attending lectures, though not from taking the exams.

All it took to become ”campus royalty,” apparently, was winning one competition. It was easier than he’d imagined; his thesis hadn’t even come out yet.

In any case, Jiang He was in the library, his focus entirely on gathering materials and cross-referencing his reading.

His current research capabilities were extremely limited. Under these conditions, he had to find a foolproof shortcut.

That was the only way he could get ahead and beat out the top-tier labs.

The day gradually slipped by.

Evening fell.

Jiang He got ready to go eat.

His class president, Zhou Yang, had announced in the group chat yesterday that he was organizing a get-together at Old Street BBQ, located right below the Feiyu Internet Cafe.

The whole class was getting together for a meal to officially celebrate Jiang He taking first place in the competition.

The entire class was fired up about it, and Jiang He felt it would be rude to refuse their enthusiastic invitation yet again.

Besides, he had another motive.

The pre-processing work for the blood samples was incredibly tedious. Just the three guys from Dorm 402 plus Cheng Xiyao wouldn’t be enough manpower or have enough energy.

Once the funding came through and the project officially launched, it would be an around-the-clock assembly line.

Tonight’s dinner would be the perfect opportunity to talk to Yi Xiangwan.

In his past life, Yi Xiangwan had been the smartest guy in their class.

Not only did he have great ideas for research, but he was also incredibly meticulous and would dig deep into any problem.

In his past life, Jiang He had even collaborated with him while working on his PhD.

’But right now, he’s probably still really insecure about his height.’

’Anyway, I’ll talk to him and get him to participate in the assessment next week. I can select him then.’
