Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

Chapter 1014: Chapter 365: Hongguan, Town Chief’s Ultimatum, Reinforcements and Discord Among Nine Towns, Eye to Eye_4

......

Moao Calendar Year 131, October 19th, Midnight

At the northern border of Chui Mountain Town, in the area bordering Yangqu Town, a lightly equipped unit of over 1,500 people galloped from north to south.

They were moving swiftly, covering five or six miles of snow fields in mere moments, entering the Chui Mountain Realm from Yangqu, and it was obvious they were all Cold Resistance Level experts.

The term ”lightly equipped” referred to the fact that although these 1,500 people carried weapons, they were all dressed in casual clothes and not in armor, and were clearly divided into five distinct groups, indicating they were not from the same family of Cold Resistance Level warriors.

The five groups were all in a hurry, with few loud voices, and only a few people within the units were whispering among themselves.

In the central area on the left, a middle-aged man with a straightforward demeanor was quietly speaking to a young man in his thirties next to him:

”Brother Lu might not be fully aware that Jiangxia Town is jointly governed by the Jiang Family and the Xiahou Family. The founding Lord of Jiangxia is Xiahou Wu. After his death, the second Lord was his son Xiahou Ming. Over sixty years ago, in an attempt to open up the coastal waters of Jiangxia, Xiahou Ming took great risks and fought the Red Carp Monster, who then occupied those waters. Although he managed to inflict serious wounds and drive away the creature, he himself was poisoned with the monster’s cold toxin, nearly dying.

Xiahou Ming held on for fifteen full years, until his son Xiahou Zhang broke through to the Xianyang Level, before passing on the Lordship to Jiang Yinglong. After relinquishing the Lordship, Xiahou Ming died within two or three years, and thus the Lordship fell to the Jiang Family. However, Xiahou Zhang became the Army Chief, and the Xiahou Family’s status in the town remained stable, just not as prominent as before.”

Upon hearing this, Lu Yang’s eyes flashed with a sharp gleam as he quietly inquired, ”According to Brother Chen, does this mean Jiangxia is internally unstable?”

Chen Yiqing chuckled upon hearing this speculation, ”It’s natural for a person to have such thoughts, Brother Lu, but in reality, it is not so...”

He paused and then continued shaking his head, ”Jiangxia Town was founded on the cooperation of the Jiang and Xiahou families. It is rumored that many years ago, the first Lord Xiahou Wu intended to pass the Lordship to the Jiang Family at his deathbed and even promised shared governance moving forward. However, the Jiang Family declined, allowing Xiahou Ming to ascend unopposed.

Brother Lu might think Xiahou Ming held on for fifteen years fearing that his son Xiahou Zhang wouldn’t break through to the Xianyang Level and would face a purge by the Jiang Family. But that’s not the case—his son Xiahou Zhang was Jiang Yinglong’s sole disciple, and it was Jiang Yinglong himself who risked his life at Moao Mountain to gather five Heavenly Yang Fruits so that Xiahou Zhang could break through to the Xianyang Level. Given such relations, how could Xiahou Ming be concerned about the Jiang Family purging the Xiahou Family?

In the Moao Nine Towns, many towns are jointly governed by two and even three families like Yangqu, Chui Mountain, Dragon Valley, and Wuchuan, but none of them are as united as the Jiang and Xiahou families.”

Not only is this rare in the Nine Towns, but it’s likely equally rare in other camps.

Lu Yang nodded, feeling his understanding of Jiangxia deepen a little, and he couldn’t help but smile as he bowed to Chen Yiqing, ”Brother Chen, I had no idea you were so well-informed about Jiangxia despite being from the East Ridge district. Thank you for enlightening me, Brother Chen. I’ve learned something today!”

”I just love snooping around, Brother Lu. Don’t mention it.”

Lu Yang refrained from further conversation and instead turned his gaze to the two leaders at the front, representing Beishuo in this expedition, his eyes slightly glittering.

The itinerary was roughly as he expected. On the night of the sixteenth, he arrived at Beishuo with 31 Cold Resistance Level members and 450 Earth-digging Realm soldiers from East Ridge, joining forces with the entire manpower Beishuo had summoned from various villages.

The scale aligned well with his previous estimates: Beishuo had gathered 362 Cold Resistance Level individuals and over 18,000 Earth-digging Realm soldiers from seven districts for reinforcements, led by Inspectorate Vice Institute Chief Huang Tianxing and Dean Gu Tianxiong, who are currently leading Beishuo’s forces.

The reinforcements rested for a day in Beishuo Town before setting off on the night of the seventeenth, initially estimated by him to arrive by at least the twenty-fourth or twenty-fifth.

However, things changed last night, the night of the eighteenth.

Last night, someone from Beishuo Town caught up with the marching troops and said something to Huang Tianxing and Gu Tianxiong, prompting them to gather all 362 Cold Resistance Level members, detach from the army, and rush towards Jiangxia at full speed.

Along the way, they sequentially caught up with the Cold Resistance Level units from Wuchuan, Jin Mountain, Dragon Valley, and Yangqu, leading to the current scene of five groups traveling together.

There was no need to guess—all Cold Resistance Levels were advancing ahead of the main forces due to some significant developments in the Jiangxia battle that couldn’t wait, causing each town to signal their units to dispatch the Cold Resistance Level warriors earlier.

At present, Lu Yang knew only as much, and he scanned the other four Cold Resistance Level units, focusing closely on each unit leader.

Similar to Beishuo Town, each leader of the other four families was also an Inspectorate Vice Institute Chief.

The leader from Jinshan Town was named Shangguan Yan, wielding a dark-colored Big Saber. He looked over eighty, the oldest in the group; the leader from Wuchuan Town was Qin Yuanhai, a tall figure in his forties carrying a lengthy staff; the Dragon Valley Town leader was Long Wendong, only a few years older than himself, presumably gifted, wielding a Longsword; and lastly, the leader from Yangqu was named Cao Tianyun, also around forty, carried a Silver Eight-sided Hammer, and appeared most robust.
