Chapter 68: Chapter 66: Universal Techniques! Mastered!

”Is there any other way to learn the Meditation Method?” Ye Mingqiu asked.

”Develop it yourself, seek education in the Spirit Realm, or apprentice under a Magic System master—those are pretty much the ways. Mastering the Meditation Method is a bit difficult,” Tang Ruobing replied.

It’s more than just a bit difficult...

It’s incredibly difficult!

Developing a Meditation Method is not something an ordinary person can do. Anyone capable of creating one probably wouldn’t lack it, because if they didn’t even understand the basic principles of the Meditation Method, how could they possibly develop it? Is there a person who understands the basic principles of the Meditation Method but doesn’t know any Meditation Method at all?

Seeking education in the Spirit Realm means trying your luck in finding a world where the Magic System is highly developed, and then finding a native who knows the Meditation Method to learn from—this is still quite difficult.

For natives, the Meditation Method is also very precious. They aren’t going to casually share their Meditation Method, and building rapport or completing tasks to gain it takes a huge amount of time and effort, with no guarantee of success.

As for apprenticing under a Magic System master...

That’s also not very realistic. Ye Mingqiu himself is not primarily focused on the Magic System; he just wants to enhance his efficiency in learning Magic System skills through the Meditation Method. Seeking apprenticeship under a Magic System master only to not focus on it... that’s a bit much.

”Then I suppose I’ll have to give up healing,” Ye Mingqiu sighed.

”Learning to master the Meditation Method also takes time, and the time spent learning compared to the strength gain you get isn’t worthwhile for you now. It’s okay not to learn it for now; let’s start with the Universal Techniques,” Tang Ruobing consoled.

”Alright.”

”I’ve found three kinds of Universal Techniques: the Wind Walking Skill for increasing movement speed, the Lighting Skill for providing vision in the dark, and the Healing Skill for restoring teammates’ state.”

Tang Ruobing took a brand-new notebook from her backpack, turned to the first page, and handed it to Ye Mingqiu. ”I’ve already copied down the fundamental techniques, with annotations on the side. Try to learn it; if you can’t, come ask me.”

”Okay.”

Ye Mingqiu took the notebook, looked at the elegant writing and standard diagrams, and in his mind began deducing the basic structure of the Wind Walking Skill, while calculating the required spiritual energy to be injected at each moment to see if it matched the technique’s specifications.

Universal Techniques are essentially foolproof spells; knowing how to use them makes you a mage, not a master mage.

A true master mage must learn Advanced Techniques and constantly adjust parameters using their knowledge and battlefield changes, calculating in real-time.

For instance, real-time adjustments to the technique’s model, calculating how much spiritual energy to inject and when to achieve the desired effect, rather than simply wasting spiritual energy and power with low efficiency.

To become a master mage, one not only needs vast knowledge but also strong computational power. The calculation process is usually done before battle, with the pre-calculated technique being deployed in combat.

Everyone underestimates the basic techniques in daily life, but everyone uses them in actual combat because they’re convenient.

Without learning the knowledge of Advanced Techniques, learning one technique is just one technique. But with Advanced Techniques skills, mastering one technique equates to mastering several or even dozens of different techniques, and one might even deduce new patterns, creating the technique most suited to oneself.

This is also why Tang Ruobing said the same skill couldn’t affect Feng Xinglie a second time.

For top-level Magic System talents, they would analyze and crack spells they’ve seen before, rendering them ineffective through their knowledge and skills.

But this process requires time, thought, and calculation—it’s almost impossible to crack in real-time combat.

....

A few minutes later

Ye Mingqiu deduced in his mind and concluded that his mental calculations matched the notebook’s parameters. He thought: The basic Universal Techniques are fairly easy to crack. Mastering Advanced Techniques requires a comprehensive understanding of all related knowledge; the more advanced the technique, the more knowledge is required.

The Magic System knowledge hasn’t been learned in vain; my reserve of knowledge is somewhat useful.

He closed the book and walked to an open space, slowly raising his arm, casting using his mind.

”Wind Walking Skill.”

In an instant, a gentle Wind Power enveloped him, swirling around him as if making his body much lighter.

[You have understood the skill: Wind Walking Skill]

Wind Walking Skill (Active)

Tier: None

Effect: Increases movement speed upon use.

Is it an understanding skill without a tier?

Ye Mingqiu felt a bit helpless, but thought this was normal; the Wind Walking Skill is indeed not considered an advanced skill, just a basic of basics, but even so... it can still be classified as a skill in the Spirit Realm.

Skills like the Fireball Skill and Wind Blade Skill he understood before didn’t even have recording value; the Spirit Realm simply wouldn’t classify them as understanding skills.

Isn’t this an improvement?

Compared to that...

A look of excitement gradually appeared on Ye Mingqiu’s face as he cast the Wind Walking Skill again. However, the second casting differed from the basic version—he altered one structure of the technique and increased the spiritual energy output.

Then, with the spiritual energy outpouring, a sudden gale erupted before him, whirling around a wind eye.

Reading nearby, Tang Ruobing couldn’t help but look up at the rotating vortex, sighing helplessly. She always knew this outcome was inevitable, which is why she let Ye Mingqiu practice in her exclusive training room.

She was a hundred percent sure this guy would try using a variant technique. After all, even though she acted naive during conversations, Ye Mingqiu’s learning and problem-solving were genuine.

Tang Ruobing’s gaze gradually shifted, silently remarking: If he used his own abilities to learn and solve problems without external help, then his knowledge reserve... might be on par with an average third-year Magic System student.

After all, she had a good sense of the questions she asked.

Moreover, importantly, he learned all this independently using online materials and library books without a teacher’s guidance.

This guy... is truly quite remarkable.

Tang Ruobing merely watched him cast spell without unnecessary words; if there were significant issues, she would stop him directly. If the problem was small or non-existent... then let him enjoy it for a while longer.

She gently lowered her gaze, continuing to read her book; however, after a bit, she realized something was amiss. Tang Ruobing quickly looked up at the vortex Ye Mingqiu created, noticing the anomaly.

Something’s not right!

The spell’s intensity isn’t right!

Wind Walking Skill is a basic Universal Technique; even a variant shouldn’t be this powerful, yet the vortex he released was so strong? It would require at least a Mental Attribute of 30 or more to manifest this power!

Is it his talent? But isn’t his talent supposed to amplify power and agility? What’s going on here?

This guy... isn’t simple at all!
