Three Systems Made the Fake Heiress Unstoppable

Chapter 204: Chapter 204: Transferring Household Registration Out of the York Family

”Alright, I got it.”

Immediately after, Miles York hung up the phone. He didn’t say any angry words at all, which was completely different from what Brooke York had expected.

”No, he just hung up like that? He’s not angry? That shouldn’t be!” Brooke couldn’t understand it. ”What the hell? I wanted him to be angry!”

Miles went straight to Southbend University to find Chloe.

”Chloe!”

”For Mr. York to come find me in person, it seems you’ve decided to agree, right?”

”Oh, Chloe, look at you. Why are you calling me Mr. York? I’m your dad!”

Chloe didn’t say anything, just raised an eyebrow. ”When are we going to process it?”

Hearing Chloe constantly implying that he had already agreed made Miles uncomfortable. When did he ever say he agreed?

”Chloe, you haven’t eaten yet, right? How about we grab a meal first?”

”Sure!”

The two of them went to a restaurant near the university, where Miles specifically requested a private room.

To be honest, Miles had no idea what Chloe liked to eat. So, to avoid ordering the wrong thing, he simply had the restaurant bring out all their signature dishes—whatever was ordered the most.

With just the two of them, Chloe not speaking, and Miles not initiating a conversation, the entire private room remained quiet. Soon, dish after dish was placed on the table. Seeing that Chloe was hungry and wanted to eat, Miles held off on discussing business to let her eat her fill first.

Chloe didn’t care what Miles was thinking. She focused on her meal, knowing she would only have the energy to engage in a tug-of-war with him once her stomach was full.

Over half an hour passed before they finished eating. Chloe had barely put down her chopsticks when Miles’s voice rang out, ”Are you full, Chloe?”

”I am. Thank you for the treat, Mr. York.”

”Chloe, look at you, acting like a stranger again. I’m your dad, how can you call me Mr. York!” Miles felt uneasy hearing Chloe address him as Mr. York time and time again. She was clearly trying to distance herself from him.

It wasn’t a big deal when it was just the two of them here, but if there were outsiders present and they heard her call him that, they would definitely assume they were no longer father and daughter. If word got out, those business partners would absolutely stop working with him.

”I won’t be soon. After all, your daughter is Brooke, isn’t she?”

”Whether it’s you or Brooke, you’re both my daughters. In my heart, you’re both my biological daughters. It’s the same.” Miles played the emotional card at this moment. He spoke of them still being a family and treating them both as biological daughters, but did he even believe his own words?

Chloe clearly didn’t buy it. ”Are we going to transfer my household registration now or tomorrow?”

”Chloe, how about this? I’ll give you another ten percent of the company’s shares, and you don’t move your registration out. What do you say?” Miles tried to negotiate with her.

To be honest, Chloe was quite shocked to hear Miles say this. It made her feel like she was exceptionally valuable.

”Is Mr. York going back on his word?”

”No, no, no. Look, Chloe, I told you before—no matter what, you’re a shareholder of the company now. If you move your household registration out and those external partners find out, they might cancel our collaborations. They’re only working with our company because of your reputation for doing good deeds! If you move out and are no longer a daughter of the York family, they’ll cancel their partnerships, and as a shareholder, you’ll lose your income too!

”Furthermore, I’m giving you some more shares now—another ten percent. Added to what you already have, you’ll hold twenty percent of the company’s shares. If our company continues doing as well as it is now, the money will just keep rolling in, right?”

”What you’re saying is indeed correct. But who can say for sure what will happen in the future? Like you said, it’s because of my presence that the company is thriving and making so much money right now. However, I’m about to go abroad. If I leave the country, do you think these partners will stop collaborating with us over time? So, just to be safe, it seems I don’t really need a lot of shares.”

Miles had not expected Chloe to throw his words right back at him. However, what she said wasn’t wrong. If she went abroad, all those good deeds she did would eventually be forgotten by the public. As time went on, it was entirely possible that these partners would indeed stop working with them.

”So, it doesn’t really matter whether I move my household registration or not, does it?”

”Then, Chloe, can you just not go abroad? As long as you don’t go abroad and stay in the country, it’ll be fine!”

Miles had a beautiful fantasy: since people would forget if Chloe went abroad, she just needed to stay.

”Why wouldn’t I go abroad? I’m not short of money right now; I just want to go out and see the world. What makes you think I’d abandon my original plans for the sake of your company?”

”Chloe, I—”

”Alright, you don’t need to say anything more. Find a time to transfer my household registration. When exactly will it be?” Chloe interrupted him, not wanting to hear any more of his nonsense.

No matter what he said, it would just be him trying to persuade her not to go abroad and not to transfer her registration. That was absolutely out of the question.

Miles could see Chloe’s resolve. He hadn’t expected that offering her shares wouldn’t work; she was dead set on moving her household registration out of the family.

”Then how about this? You move it out, but just don’t tell anyone, alright? Let’s keep it a secret. This way, the company can still make whatever money it can. Besides, you’re a shareholder, so you’ll be making money too, right?”

This was the only compromise Miles could think of. This way, both their interests would be accommodated, and there would basically be no losses.

”Will you still give me those shares, then?”

Miles didn’t expect that even with her household registration being transferred out, Chloe would still want the shares. But if he didn’t give them to her, what if she deliberately let it slip that she was no longer part of the York family?

”I’ll still give them to you!”

Hearing that, Chloe agreed immediately. ”That works for me.”

”Alright then, shall we go now?” Miles didn’t want to delay either.

”Sure.”

After leaving the restaurant, the two headed straight to the relevant department to handle the household registration transfer. Once the paperwork was finished, Chloe was issued her very own household registration book.

After an hour of processing, they walked out the front doors of the building.

Looking at the registration book that belonged entirely to her—where she was the head of the household and the only person listed inside—Chloe felt an immense sense of satisfaction.

”Chloe, even though your registration is moved out, I’m still your dad. You can come to me if you need anything.” Miles still didn’t forget to say some pleasant-sounding words.

At the end of the day, Chloe still needed to interact with the York family to make the facade convincing. Otherwise, people would get suspicious as to why she never associated with them.

”Alright, I got it. I’m leaving!”

Chloe didn’t linger for even a second. She waved her hand and walked away. She was a free woman now. As for her surname, she was originally a York anyway, so naturally, she would continue using it.
