Three Systems Made the Fake Heiress Unstoppable

Chapter 203: Chapter 203: Brooke York Successfully Brainwashed

”A hundred thousand!”

”Yes, a hundred thousand. How about it? That’s not a small sum. I’ve saved it up for a long time, and I’m giving it all to you at once,” Brooke York said, sounding a bit smug.

To her, a hundred thousand or so was already a lot of money. If she had been given this sum before returning to the York family, it would have been enough to keep her fed and clothed for a lifetime without ever having to work. Therefore, she felt that a hundred thousand was a massive amount of money for Chloe York right now. What she didn’t know was that to someone like Chloe York, who now had tens of millions in assets, a mere hundred thousand was practically nothing.

”No way. I’m still transferring my residence registration!”

”Why? Don’t you want the hundred thousand? You were perfectly happy to take ten thousand just a moment ago,” Brooke York said, her tone growing urgent. She was giving her all her money—why wasn’t it working?

”For ten thousand, you were just asking me a question. Why wouldn’t I take it? But with a hundred thousand, you’re trying to stop me from doing what I want to do. Obviously, that’s different!” Chloe York explained patiently.

”Chloe York, why do you insist on transferring your registration? Can’t you just leave it? What exactly is the system rewarding you with? Tell me, and I can get it for you, too!” Brooke York was frantic, putting everything on the table. No matter what, as long as she could stop Chloe York from moving her registration and prove her competence to Miles York, she was willing to pay any amount of money.

Chloe York thought for a moment before saying, ”How about this? You give me the hundred thousand, and I’ll tell you how me transferring my registration benefits you.”

Hearing this, Brooke York froze. Benefit her? There was a benefit for her?

”What benefit?” Brooke York asked, sounding genuinely curious this time.

”You have to give me the money first!”

”Do I have to give you the whole hundred thousand?” Brooke York felt that if she handed it all over, she would be left with almost nothing. All her efforts to save money lately would be like pouring water into a sieve—a complete waste of time.

”Of course!”

”Oh, fine!” Brooke York transferred the entire hundred thousand to Chloe York.

Seeing the money arrive in her account, Chloe York’s heart bloomed with joy. Now she really didn’t have to worry about food and clothing for the rest of her life. She wouldn’t even have to budget; she could spend as extravagantly as she wanted. The novel world truly lived up to its name—money flowed like water here.

After transferring the money, Brooke York suddenly realized she might have been tricked into a daze. Initially, she just wanted to stop Chloe York from completing the system’s task so she wouldn’t get the reward. Later, to gain Miles York’s approval, she had taken on the task of convincing Chloe York not to move her registration. Yet here she was, not only failing her mission but also blowing her entire private savings in the process.

”Tell me, what’s the benefit for me? If I’m not satisfied with your answer, you have to give the money back.” Brooke York could only say this in hopes of getting at least some of her money back.

”I’m transferring my registration because I’m going abroad soon, not because of the system. There is no reward. You know I’m not the true daughter of the York family, and I’m worried your dad will marry me off in a business alliance when I return.

”So, what’s the benefit for you? If I move my registration out, aren’t you the only daughter left in this house? You’ll be the only York family daughter on the household register, which means the family company will naturally be yours. You won’t have to compete with me anymore. No matter what Miles York thinks, he’ll have no choice but to hand the company over to you. Don’t you agree?”

”The system didn’t give you a task?” Brooke York caught the main point of her words.

”Exactly!”

”Then what was that ten thousand I transferred to you for?”

”Just proof that you have too much money.”

”You—”

”Oh, don’t be mad. I don’t even understand why you joined in opposing my registration transfer in the first place. This is obviously a good thing for you, isn’t it?”

”That’s because I didn’t want you to complete the system’s task.”

”No, wait. If I fail to persuade you and you move your registration out anyway, Dad will think I’m incompetent.”

”You’re so stubborn. Once my registration is moved out, even if you are incompetent, Miles York only has you as his child. Who else could he possibly hand the company to?”

Hearing Chloe York say this, Brooke York thought it actually made sense! She was the only child in the York family. Who else would the company go to? Even if she was incompetent, it had to be her.

Brooke York didn’t say anything else and simply left. Unfazed, Chloe York packed up her things and left as well.

That evening, Alice Cole called to ask if Brooke York had come up with a solution. Alice Cole had been racking her brains at home too, but couldn’t think of anything. The main issue was that Chloe York’s actions were completely unpredictable now, and it was impossible to guess what she was thinking.

”Mom, I don’t plan on trying to change Dad’s impression of me anymore. Even if I’m incompetent, if Chloe York’s registration is moved out, won’t the York family and the company have to be handed over to me? Why should I even try to persuade her to stay?”

”Oh, Brooke, that’s exactly what I’ve been thinking! I said from the very beginning that letting Chloe York move her registration out would be good for you. No one will fight you for the family company.”

Seeing that Brooke York had finally figured it out, Alice Cole breathed a sigh of relief. Exactly! Chloe York moving her registration out was obviously a fantastic thing for Brooke York, yet she had insisted on stopping her.

”Yeah, Mom. I just didn’t think it through at first. I wanted to impress Dad with my competence and completely forgot that Chloe York moving her registration out actually benefits me.”

”That settles it, then. We don’t have to stress over this anymore,” Alice Cole said, her tone much lighter.

Brooke York didn’t take the initiative to seek out Miles York either. She simply waited until the last day, letting him call her first.

Three days passed quickly.

Miles York called Brooke York immediately, asking her how the matter was coming along. If she had failed, he would have to use his own methods—which meant using shares to convince Chloe York not to move her registration again. After all, it was thanks to her reputation that the company’s profits had been so good lately. So, giving her a few more shares was no big deal. He had also bought back some shares from other stakeholders, so no matter how much he gave Chloe York, her stake would never surpass his.

As for Brooke York, he had absolutely no intention of giving her any shares. After all, she hadn’t made a single contribution to the company so far.

”Brooke, how did it go? Today is the last day. Did you successfully persuade Chloe?”

”Dad, I’m sorry. Chloe wouldn’t listen to me. She said she insists on moving her registration out, and no amount of persuasion will work. She feels that with her current status, the York family isn’t worthy of her.”

Brooke York deliberately framed it as Chloe York looking down on the York family, thereby choosing to move her registration out. That way, the failure wouldn’t reflect her own incompetence in persuading her, but rather the inadequacy of the York family and Miles York himself.

After saying this, Brooke York felt a bit apprehensive, worried that Miles York would lose his temper at her. Yet, she was also somewhat hopeful—hopeful that he would be enraged and end up hating Chloe York even more.
