Legend of Swordsman

Chapter 6256: Iron-Faced Liang Chen

Wang Lun charged forward, slashing twice more, and cursed angrily, “Damn it, weren’t you acting all high and mighty just now?”

He then swiftly turned and cut down another who was paralyzed with fear, finally feeling relieved.

Turning his gaze towards Jian Wushuang, his eyes revealed admiration.

“Brother Wushuang, your swordsmanship is truly ruthless. If it had been me facing this Hei Si, I would have been entangled in a fight for a while!”

Jian Wushuang shook his head indifferently, “This is nothing. The real opponents are upstairs.”

At this moment, Scarred Xuan also ran over, covered in blood, and reported to the two of them, “We’ve taken care of everyone downstairs. Let’s head upstairs!”

Just then, a loud crash came from upstairs.

The reason why those guys hadn’t reacted earlier when they started the fight was because, firstly, they acted too quickly, secondly, there was something wrong with the wine, and thirdly, the door was locked.

They had just kicked it open now.

But having drunk the tainted wine, they might have been able to kick the door open, but they couldn’t fight back!

As soon as they broke through the door, they were immediately cut down by a few axe- wielding men who had been lying in ambush.

However, Chen Mazi had a few good men on his side too.

And they all had knives, but unfortunately, they were too drunk.

They couldn’t stop them at all.

One man, however, managed to cut down three skilled fighters in a row and broke through the siege.

Moreover, after breaking out, he ran madly towards the outside of the tavern.

Seeing this scene, Jian Wushuang couldn’t help but smile.

Running away, huh!

The one running was Iron Face, the only one who hadn’t drunk. He pulled out a firestick from his waist.

A streak of light shot into the sky.

Then a deafening sound followed.

There was no need to ask; it was obvious this guy was calling for reinforcements.

As for Wang Putou, he was being dragged out by Scarred Xuan’s men, along with Chen Mazi.

“Keep these two, I need them tomorrow!” Jian Wushuang reminded, then walked out of the tavern.

Five or six skilled fighters followed him.

Naturally, they needed to capture that Iron Face “Liang Chen.”

A thunderclap exploded in the sky.

Three hundred officers and soldiers stationed in Qingshan Town immediately set out.

Fifty light cavalry took the lead.

With well-trained soldiers and horses, they were far superior to bandits.

Even five hundred bandits couldn’t stop these light cavalry.

Moreover, there were two hundred axemen following behind the cavalry.

If Jian Wushuang had chosen to forcibly take down Shajia Town, the outcome would have been disastrous.

Crucially, Wang Lun wouldn’t have agreed with such a decision.

But now, they had set up numerous traps along the route, just waiting for the fish to take the bait.

In Shajia Town, Jian Wushuang, with a few men, cornered the iron-faced constable “Liang Chen” in a dead end.

Seeing no escape, Liang Chen cursed angrily, “I’ve already sent for reinforcements. Even if you kill me, you won’t escape. Prepare to be beheaded!”

“It seems you intend to repay kindness with enmity!” Jian Wushuang wiped the blood off his sword and said leisurely, “I thought you were a smart man?”

“Hmph, I’m a constable of the court. What kindness do I owe to you petty bandits? Only hatred!”

The iron face truly lived up to its name, speaking righteously without surrender.

If Jian Wushuang really wanted to kill Liang Chen, he would have done it long ago.

But this man, like Captain Wang and Chen Mazi, couldn’t be killed.

The former was notorious; killing him so easily would be too cheap and worthless. The latter was a respected iron-faced constable in Shajia Town, with high prestige. Moreover, he had a significant relationship with an instructor in Qingshan Town. Jian Wushuang naturally wanted to make good use of this.

So, he started to reason with Liang Chen.

“Brother Liang, I respect you as a good official, which is why I’m being polite. But how can you not appreciate it?”

The more Jian Wushuang spoke like this, the more Liang Chen felt something was wrong.

Jian Wushuang didn’t seem like an ordinary bandit but rather had an indescribable aura.

This aura didn’t belong to ordinary people or mortals.

It was more like that of a high-ranking official.

“Is there any bond between us?” Liang Chen tentatively asked.

Seeing Liang Chen take the bait, Jian Wushuang answered cheerfully, “Of course there’s a

bond, but it’s you who owe me a favor!”

“Where does this come from?” Liang Chen raised an eyebrow, having a premonition.

If it was as he thought, then Jian Wushuang was terrifying.

“The Hongmen Banquet!”

The reason Chen Mazi hosted a banquet today and dragged his brother-in-law along, even forcibly bringing iron-faced Liang Chen to the restaurant, was to eliminate him.

Because a few days ago, Liang Chen had confiscated an important batch of goods from Chen

Mazi.

So, Chen Mazi was willing to go to great lengths to get rid of Liang Chen.

This was something Jian Wushuang had learned from the boatmen.

Thinking about how Chen Mazi ostentatiously hosted the banquet today, he guessed there

were ill intentions.

The goods had just been seized, and now there was a hypocritical invitation.

Either it was a reconciliation attempt, but trying to reconcile with the iron face was like

playing music to a cow.

So, there was only one possibility left: silencing him.

Jian Wushuang explained the whole situation clearly.

Liang Chen had also sensed the killing intent at the banquet today and was planning to find an

opportunity to leave.

Unexpectedly, Jian Wushuang and his men stormed into Shajia Town, allowing him to escape. “So, Brother Liang, don’t you owe me a favor!” Jian Wushuang smiled at him.

Clearly trying to build a relationship.

But iron-faced Liang Chen was known for only seeing right and wrong, never considering

personal feelings.

In Shajia Town, he never gave face to anyone.

That was his principle.

“Let’s say I owe you a favor. Now you can kill me and take this favor. I promise not to resist, but in an hour, the soldiers from Qingshan Town will come, and you’ll still be doomed!” Although Liang Chen admired Jian Wushuang’s planning, he was not willing to collude with

him.

Besides, he had never thought of colluding with a petty bandit.

At this time, after finishing off the dock thugs at the restaurant, Wang Lun also walked over.

“Brother Wushuang, no need to waste words with him. Just kill him. Everything is set up on the main road. Those soldiers can’t get in, and they’ll still meet their end!” Wang Lun seemed very excited at this moment. He had heard from Scarred Xuan that Jian Wushuang had set up horse traps and bamboo blade pits on the main road.

Fifty light cavalry would surely have no return.

The infantry behind them would be even easier to deal with.

Using the time difference, they could set another trap on the main road where the light cavalry

had been ambushed.

It would also be easy to take down.

These soldiers looked down on bandits and couldn’t have imagined that these petty bandits

would dare ambush them halfway.

First, they needed someone to plan, and second, sufficient benefits.

Lastly, it required courage.

Courage could be forced out.

Liang Chen was first surprised that Jian Wushuang could foresee that Chen Mazi and Captain

Wang intended to harm him and could set this up in advance.

The second surprise was hearing Wang Lun say they were going to attack the soldiers.
