A Foodie Transmigrated into the Palace

”At least others have the title of County Princess, and you...”

”Ah...”

Mother Chen sighed deeply and said.

”Tomorrow I’ll find some embroideresses!”

”You must learn needlework, and also the arts of the zither, chess, painting, and calligraphy...”

Chen Weiyu: ”...”

...

Since then, Chen Weiyu was confined at home, rarely going out.

One time Yue Er went to see her,

she heard Sister’s scolding before she even entered.

”This needle isn’t supposed to move like that! Miss, if you don’t study properly, I’ll have to report to Madam!”

Chen Weiyu, helpless.

”I’ve been studying hard, but the embroidery needle is so small I can’t hold it!”

Sister: ”...”

”The Princess is here!”

The servants announced.

Sister immediately composed herself, standing respectfully to the side to greet.

As Yue Er lifted the curtain and entered, the maids and sisters in the room knelt down.

”Greetings, Fourth Princess!”

Yue Er calmly.

”Stand up, all of you, you can leave now!”

The sisters were a bit reluctant, but they still responded dutifully and left.

...

When only the two of them were left in the room.

Chen Weiyu threw down the needle and thread and collapsed on the couch.

”Oh, good heavens, you’re finally here!”

”Yue Er, do you know I’m suffocating here!”

Yue Er casually picked up the embroidery frame, looked at the neatly embroidered piece, and couldn’t help but praise.

”Not bad! You’re doing great!”

”Why is she still scolding you when it’s so well done?”

Chen Weiyu, a bit exasperated.

”What good is your approval?”

”In that embroideress’s eyes, this is worse than pigs and dogs!”

”My goodness! When will this ever end?”

”Yue Er, please help me!”

Yue Er felt a bit helpless.

”I dare not take you horseback riding again!”

”Last time, your mother complained to my mother, which got me scolded...”

Chen Weiyu was both amused and annoyed.

”What can I do? You must help me!”

”If this continues, I’m going to go mad!”

Yue Er hesitated for quite a while before speaking.

”If all else fails, why don’t you stay in the palace with me for a few days?”

Chen Weiyu thought about it, and her eyes lit up.

”That’s an idea!”

”If the princess summons, my mother surely won’t refuse!”

”It’s decided then, but don’t summon me today, wait a couple of days!”

Yue Er nodded.

”Alright, it’s settled then!”

”I’ll let my mother know later, to avoid another scolding!”

Chen Weiyu was very happy, embracing Yue Er with gratitude.

”Thank goodness for you!”

”Otherwise, I’d be suffocating at home!”

Yue Er smirked.

”You’re exaggerating, Aunt Chen wouldn’t be so cruel!”

”Also... do you think you’re the only one bored?”

”I’m the one who’s truly lonely!”

”Yilan can’t come out, you can’t either, and I’m just by myself every day!”

”I’m so bored that I have to attend school! My days are tough too!”

Chen Weiyu, with tears in her eyes.

”School... turns out your situation isn’t that great either!”

Yue Er raised her eyebrows.

”What did you think?”

”I don’t even have a playmate now!”

Chen Weiyu asked.

”Aren’t the Third Prince and Fourth Prince also in school, along with Shih Shaoling? They’re all there!”

”At least you get to see people, better than me!”

”I’ve lost hope, and won’t be able to go out as I like anymore!”

Yue Er was quite frustrated.

”Don’t even mention it!”

”As for my third brother and fourth brother, let’s not talk about them, and you know Shih Shaoling!”

”He’s my archenemy!”

Chen Weiyu thought about it and agreed.

She hugged Yue Er with a show of deep despair.

”Why are women so miserable!”

”If only I were a man!”

Yue Er thought quietly.

”That’s a good idea!”

”Some men don’t have any skills at all, only indulging in eating, drinking, womanizing, and gambling, ruining their families! They might as well exchange places with us!”

”We’d go out and achieve great things, let them stay home!”

”Even if it goes poorly, they’d only cause trouble at home, not affecting anyone else!”

”Exactly!”

The more they talked, the more indignant they became.

After venting a good deal, both felt much better.

Yue Er spent most of the day with her, had lunch, chatted for a while, and then returned home.

...

On her way back to the palace.

Yue Er found it early and detoured to Duanning Palace.

She spent time with her mother, chatting and laughing, dined at Duanning Palace, and then returned to her own Fengyu Pavilion.

After bathing and changing, as usual, Yue Er reclined on the soft couch to read.

If she didn’t finish the homework assigned by her teacher, she’d get a palm strike tomorrow.

In the quiet and luxurious room.

The only sounds were the rustle of pages turning and the occasional crackle of the candle flame.

Ying Luo stood quietly by.

Occasionally, she picked up the small silver scissors to cut the window flowers or stepped forward to serve a cup of fragrant tea.

The moon rose in the east and night deepened.

Outside, the sounds of the watchman’s drum marked the hours one, two, and three.

After the third watch, Ying Luo stepped forward with a reminder.

”Princess, it’s late!”

Yue Er put down the book, yawned, washed up, and went to bed.

Another busy and fulfilling day had finally ended.

...

After Mid-Autumn, the weather cooled.

With clear skies and refreshing autumn air.

It was again the season to admire flowers.

In the Imperial Garden, the osmanthus bloomed, tiny as rice grains, clusters hiding among lush green clouds of leaves, continuously releasing a rich fragrance, as sweet and intoxicating as honey.

A gentle breeze would carry the scent throughout the entire Imperial Garden.

Chrysanthemums, cultivated by skilled artisans, ranged from common daisies seen everywhere to the most precious Thousand-Thread Chrysanthemums, green chrysanthemums, Line Chrysanthemums, and more, a myriad of varieties.

They were arrayed in the flower pools, beside the water pavilions, beneath the artificial mountains, blooming in vivid splendor, showcasing their own radiant beauty in myriad forms.

People couldn’t help but stop to appreciate, lingering and reluctant to leave.

On the Double Ninth Festival in September ninth.

Xia Ruqing hosted a flower appreciation banquet in the Imperial Garden, inviting Palace Consorts, Royal Clan Ladies of Enjoin, and other Ladies of Enjoin.

The banquet was held in the Imperial Garden.

There were mountains and water, flowers and grass, conversations and laughter, food and drink.

To ensure this banquet was well organized, she personally oversaw all the different dishes and even handpicked the theatrical troupe.

Now, watching the radiant smiles of the ladies and princesses at the banquet, she felt it was all worth it.

Her seat was at the very center.

The most exquisite dishes were placed in front of her, with Ladies of Enjoin outside the palace and Palace Consorts seated on either side.

Everyone chatted and laughed, drank and admired flowers, enjoyed music and performances, and of course, listened to singers perform, creating a very lively scene.

Watching everything before her, Xia Ruqing suddenly felt a bit confused.

Over twenty years have passed, and how much she has changed!

She originally disliked such occasions.

Whenever there was a banquet in the palace, she would either just eat and eat or wish to return to her residence to eat more!
