The Entry-plundering Demon Hunter

Chapter 265: Chapter 262: Slaughter Is the Ladder for the Strong

Just as the arrow was about to hit Xiaoqi,

Xiaoqi let out a cry.

It twisted its body and dodged the arrow.

It then quickly corrected its course, diving toward Han Dong at incredible speed.

”Huh? I actually missed? Interesting!”

Han Dong’s lips curled into a slight smirk as he licked his chapped lips with his tongue,

licking away the specks of blood that had spattered onto them.

And just then, Xiaoqi was already upon him.

A cold glint flashed in Han Dong’s eyes as he swung his long blade up toward Xiaoqi.

Xiaoqi was extremely fast. Just as man and bird were about to clash,

it once again forcibly changed direction, grazing past Han Dong’s long blade.

Its talons, like steel hooks, clawed directly at Han Dong’s shoulder.

SHLICK—

The steel talons brutally tore a chunk of flesh from Han Dong’s body.

Blood instantly gushed out...

”You beast!”

The intense pain contorted Han Dong’s face with rage.

Just as he was about to look up and find Xiaoqi,

he saw someone walk in through the school gate.

Squinting in the faint moonlight,

he could see the person was carrying a spear in one hand and seemed to be carrying a body in the other.

Han Dong clutched his torn shoulder, staring as the figure slowly approached.

THUD...

A body was tossed right in front of Han Dong.

He quickly glanced down, and his expression changed drastically.

It was Liu Hailong, the one who had split up with him to find Lin Yi.

He was already breathless, his face deathly pale. A bloody hole was visible on his neck.

His entire body looked as if it had been bathed in blood,

and it reeked of a heavy, metallic scent.

Han Dong angrily looked up at the person opposite him. It was the man they were looking for: Lin Yi.

A faint smile played on Lin Yi’s lips. ”I hear you’ve been looking for me?”

”Lin Yi...”

Han Dong ground out through clenched teeth.

SKREEE—

With a cry, Xiaoqi flapped its wings and landed on Lin Yi’s shoulder.

”Let’s end this. Of the five of you, you’re the only one left who hasn’t been sent on your way.”

”Perfect timing to see you off!”

Lin Yi said with a light chuckle.

By now, Han Dong was completely blinded by rage.

Lin Yi alone had managed to kill four members of his five-man squad.

And these five men had been with him for years, killing and surviving in this place.

Their cultivation levels might not have been that high, all just 3-star or 4-star,

but every one of them had rich combat experience and were masters of assassination.

Yet even so, all four had lost their lives at Lin Yi’s hands.

If Han Dong had been able to keep his wits about him,

when facing Lin Yi and Xiaoqi on his shoulder,

his best option would have been to flee...

But his four teammates had all been killed here.

Rage had long since stripped him of his reason.

Now, Han Dong was consumed by the desire for revenge.

He glared at Lin Yi, long blade in hand, the fury in his eyes unmistakable.

”Today... you will die!”

The next moment, Han Dong kicked off the ground.

He transformed into a gust of wind, rushing straight for Lin Yi.

The smile vanished from Lin Yi’s face.

SKREEE—

Xiaoqi struck first, diving toward Han Dong.

WHOOSH—

Just as man and bird were about to meet,

Han Dong’s long blade slashed straight at Xiaoqi.

CLANG—

Xiaoqi’s talons collided with the long blade, striking sparks.

Han Dong’s heart trembled. An immense force traveled up the blade and into his arm.

He almost lost his grip on the long blade...

’What incredible strength!’

Han Dong looked at Xiaoqi again, his eyes filled with astonishment.

Meanwhile, Xiaoqi quickly righted itself in mid-air and began circling above again.

Xiaoqi was also furious.

From the moment Han Dong had spotted it and tried to shoot it down with an arrow,

their feud had been set.

Otherwise, it wouldn’t have interfered so readily in a fight that belonged to Lin Yi.

Unless Lin Yi needed help, then it would just conveniently freeze his opponent.

But now, it didn’t care whose fight it was.

All it wanted was to kill the human before it...

As Xiaoqi circled a few times, just about to launch another attack on Han Dong,

Lin Yi quickly said, ”Xiaoqi, leave him to me!”

Hearing this, Xiaoqi, who was about to dive, quickly changed direction and resumed circling.

But its clear cry was filled with unwillingness and rage.

Lin Yi looked down, then turned his gaze back to Han Dong.

”Stop staring at the bird. Your opponent is me!”

Han Dong quickly shifted his gaze to Lin Yi, but this time, before he could attack,

SWISH—

Lin Yi’s spear thrust straight toward him.

The speed of the thrust was so fast that Han Dong had no time to react.

In a panic, he raised his long blade to block.

CLANG—

The moment their weapons clashed, Han Dong was utterly shocked.

Xiaoqi’s strength had been immense.

He never imagined Lin Yi’s would be several times greater.

That single clash had almost made him drop his long blade.

But before he could ready himself, Lin Yi’s second thrust followed.

The sound of it tearing through the air filled his ears, and even the air itself seemed to distort around the spear.

In the blink of an eye, the Black Gold Tiger Head Spear was upon him.

Having learned his lesson, Han Dong didn’t dare to block it head-on.

He hastily used a Body Technique, and the spear scraped past his body.

Just as he was silently sighing in relief,

CRACK—

the spear swept out horizontally.

This time, Han Dong had nowhere to dodge. The blow felt like being hit by a freight train.

His entire body was sent flying sideways.

But before his body could hit the ground, Lin Yi flashed and appeared before him.

Still in mid-air, Han Dong’s face was a mask of terror.

Lin Yi, however, looked at him as if he were already dead.

The spear came crashing down from above, smashing viciously into Han Dong’s body.

PUH...

CRASH—

Han Dong’s body slammed heavily onto the ground.

A mouthful of blood spewed from his lips.

At that moment, it felt like all his internal organs had been displaced.

The intense pain twisted his expression.

Lin Yi stood before him, staring down.

The next moment, Xiaoqi flapped its wings and landed on Lin Yi’s shoulder.

Han Dong was scared.

This was the first time he had felt fear since he started his career of murder and robbery.

Death had never been this close.

For so long, he had been ruthlessly reaping the lives of the underclassmen,

watching them kneel before him, begging for their lives.

That exhilarating feeling had made Han Dong lose his humanity.

He had even grown to love that feeling of superiority.

Here, he was invincible.

As long as there was profit, he would kill anyone.

But today, the hunter had become the hunted.

The moment Lin Yi’s emotionless eyes stared into his,

it was like a Death God from Hell had come to take him away.

Only now could he truly understand what the underclassmen he had killed felt.

The fear and hope before death.

Hoping that at the last moment, Han Dong would show a shred of mercy and spare their lives.

Unfortunately, he never did...

Every underclassman he encountered, no matter which university they were from,

was ruthlessly dispatched by him.

And now, he himself felt a sliver of that same hope.

”Don’t, don’t kill me... I can tell you who... who hired us to kill you...”

Just as a murderous glint flashed in Lin Yi’s eyes,

Han Dong hurriedly begged.

Lin Yi smiled. ”It can only be those few local students who don’t know what’s good for them.”

”You... you knew it was them?”

Han Dong’s last glimmer of hope was shattered.

He had planned to use this information to save his own pathetic life.

Unfortunately, Lin Yi didn’t seem to care; he had even guessed who it was.

”Be a good person in your next life.”

Lin Yi glanced down at him, and the spear in his hand fell.

SHLICK—

This thrust pierced him directly in the heart.

When he pulled the spear back, blood gushed out.

Lying on the ground, Han Dong’s eyes were filled with resentment.

He wanted to live, to keep on living.

He reached out a hand, as if trying to grasp something.

But the gushing blood quickly drained the strength from his body.

In less than a minute, Han Dong’s life was over.

Even in death, his hand was still outstretched, his eyes wide open.

Just like his teammates before him.

After plundering their talents, Lin Yi searched his wristband.

”Whoa, this guy has quite a stash!”

Lin Yi opened Han Dong’s wristband. Inside, besides various compound potions,

there were also many materials, weapons, and some martial arts and Cultivation Techniques...

After inspecting them, Lin Yi moved everything into his own ring.

It could be said that tonight’s haul was the greatest.

And the main source was all from Han Dong’s little team.

”No wonder they went down the path of murder and robbery and never looked back. This is some serious money!” Lin Yi mused, looking at his gains for the night and almost feeling something for Han Dong and his crew.

And with their method of looting—

taking money from a client, then coming in and killing freely, robbing the wristbands from their victims.

They could even kill 3-star demonic beasts and sell their corpses for money.

In one night, making hundreds of thousands wouldn’t be a problem.

If they ran into a rich underclassman from some prominent family,

it was possible to make millions, even tens of millions.

Lin Yi walked over to the students Han Dong had just killed.

Three bodies lay on the ground, all having died with their eyes open.

Their blood had stained a large patch of the ground crimson.

However, Lin Yi’s eyes showed no trace of pity for them.

Although Han Dong’s team had been opportunistic, using their sophomore status to hang around the novice area,

killing and looting to achieve their goals.

But, in this world that was already filled with danger,

death was already everywhere.

And the fact that Han Dong and his crew could operate in Jail City for so long...

...meant that even the Town Martial Department and the schools were turning a blind eye.

The law of the jungle.

The principle of the strong preying on the weak.

It was displayed here in its purest form.

If you want to live a better life, you have to constantly push yourself forward.

Without talent, without backing.

Even if it meant stooping to Han Dong’s level, using murder and robbery to improve one’s cultivation.

Wasn’t that also a shortcut...

But, if you play with fire, you’re bound to get burned.

Today, Han Dong and his crew killed others; someday, they were bound to be killed by someone stronger.

Just like today. The annihilation of Han Dong’s squad was not an end.

Soon, a new squad would appear to continue the business of murder and robbery.

Slaughter is the ladder for the strong; only the fittest can survive.

FWOOSH—

A fireball descended from the sky, landing in the middle of the three students’ corpses.

The flames quickly engulfed and consumed them,

bathing the surroundings in a crimson glow.

Lin Yi didn’t even spare it a glance.

He walked out of the school, spear in hand.

Xiaoqi circled above the fire a few times, letting out a clear cry.

Then it flapped its wings and chased after Lin Yi.

Man and bird quickly vanished from the school, melting into the endless night.
