The Entry-plundering Demon Hunter

Chapter 255: Chapter 252: Comprehending a New Spear Art: Tiger Roar

ROAR—

A soul-shaking tiger’s roar shattered the tranquility of the early morning.

A few students on their way from the Zone 1 dorms to the Cultivation Field stopped dead in their tracks.

The deep, majestic roar made their hearts pound in their chests.

It took them several long seconds to recover from their shock.

”What... what was that sound?” a short-haired boy with glasses asked, bewildered.

”Sounded like a tiger’s roar?”

”Holy shit, why would there be a tiger at the school?”

”It came from the Cultivation Field...”

”Let’s go, let’s go! Hurry and see what’s happening!”

The students picked up their pace and ran toward the Cultivation Field.

”Damn, that was awesome. What new spear technique were you practicing?”

Inside the Weapon Hall at the Cultivation Field.

Wei Nan stared at Lin Yi with a look of pure admiration.

Lin Yi was dressed in a pure black Martial Arts Uniform, holding the Black Gold Tiger Head Spear he had bought at the Martial Arts Assembly last night.

The tiger’s roar just now had come from a spear technique Lin Yi had comprehended by chance.

A white tiger had materialized out of thin air, its movements following the spear, like a hungry tiger pouncing on its prey.

It had even shattered an Artifact Refining Stone in the Weapon Hall.

Lin Yi himself was looking at his spear in surprise.

In that single moment, the spear seemed to have established some kind of connection with his mind.

It had even resonated with the white tiger in his Heart Spirit Domain.

Lin Yi had seen it clearly—that white tiger was the very same one from his domain.

It was as if something had been triggered, allowing the white tiger and the spear to merge into one and cause such immense damage.

”I’m not sure. I guess so?”

Lin Yi nodded, looking at the Black Gold Tiger Head Spear in his hands.

”What do you mean, ’you guess so’?”

”What’s that spear technique called?”

Wei Nan hurried closer, his face full of eager anticipation as he asked.

Lin Yi shook his head. ”It doesn’t have a name. I just had a sudden epiphany and used that move out of nowhere!”

”Out of... nowhere?”

Wei Nan looked at Lin Yi like he was watching the world’s biggest humblebrag.

’Create a whole spear technique out of nowhere? And one that’s so powerful?’

Not many people would believe it if he said that out loud.

But Wei Nan believed him. ”You dragged me out of bed this early in the morning just to show off this new spear technique of yours, didn’t you?”

”Fine, let’s just say you comprehended it out of nowhere. Does it have a name?”

Lin Yi shook his head. ”I just had the epiphany moments ago. I haven’t had time to name it yet!”

Wei Nan was speechless.

Seeing that shameless flex in Lin Yi’s eyes, Wei Nan truly understood what it meant to say that comparisons are the thief of joy.

It was just past five this morning. Wei Nan had been sound asleep, having a wonderful dream, when Lin Yi dragged him out of bed.

He had pulled the still-groggy Wei Nan all the way to the Cultivation Field, saying he wanted to test out the new spear he bought yesterday.

Yawning, Wei Nan had followed him to the Weapon Hall to keep Lin Yi company while he practiced.

At first, Wei Nan just kept dozing off.

He wasn’t fully awake at all and couldn’t focus on anything, just sitting on the side in a half-asleep state.

But gradually, he found himself captivated by Lin Yi’s spear work.

Then came that soul-shaking tiger’s roar.

It jolted Wei Nan wide awake.

What drove him crazy was that this guy could just casually comprehend a new spear technique.

Meanwhile, he couldn’t even find a fist technique that suited him.

’No wonder Lin Yi became the Martial Arts Examination Champion Scholar of the Old District.’

’This is the gap between us.’

”How about Tiger Roar Spear Technique?” Lin Yi said to Wei Nan with a smile.

”Is that the name for the technique just now?” Wei Nan asked, puzzled.

When Lin Yi nodded, he immediately shot it down.

”It’s too generic. No creativity, and it doesn’t capture the technique’s domineering power!”

”Why don’t you practice it one more time? Let me study it a bit,” Wei Nan said with a serious expression.

Lin Yi nodded and walked back to the center of the hall.

He touched the spear’s tip to the ground, his hand gripping the tiger head at the butt of the weapon.

His gaze gradually sharpened.

The next moment, Lin Yi once again performed the set of spear moves from before.

This time, Wei Nan stood there stroking his chin, carefully watching every single thrust and sweep Lin Yi made.

It was only then that he was surprised to discover that every movement of the spear stirred up a gust of wind.

And within the wind, there were faint, low tiger roars.

The power was incredibly domineering. Even Wei Nan, just watching from the side, felt a profound shock deep inside.

”Tiger Claw, Tiger Tail, Tiger Pounce... Fierce Tiger Descends the Mountain, Hungry Tiger Pounces on Prey, Tiger Roar Mountains and Rivers...”

Watching each of Lin Yi’s moves, Wei Nan couldn’t help but come up with names for them.

A horizontal sweep of the spear looked just like a tiger swishing its tail.

Every thrust, every form, carried the shadow of a white tiger...

ROAR—

With another tiger’s roar, Lin Yi retracted his spear and glanced back at Wei Nan.

”So? Did it give you any inspiration?” Lin Yi asked with a smile.

As soon as he finished speaking, Wei Nan’s face was a mask of unconcealed shock.

”I came up with a few, but they aren’t domineering enough. Compared to your technique, they sound too soft and weak!”

”Why don’t we just call it Tiger Roar Spear Technique for now? It’s not too late to change it later when we think of a better name!” Wei Nan said with a dry laugh.

Lin Yi nodded. He didn’t really care about the name of the technique.

What he truly cared about was that the Tiger Head Spear could actually connect with his mind and that it had resonated with the white tiger in his domain.

That was quite a surprise to Lin Yi.

A pleasant surprise, even.

”Alright, Tiger Roar it is!”

Lin Yi nodded.

After they finished their discussion and were about to leave, it was only then they noticed that twenty or thirty students had gathered outside the Weapon Hall.

Some of them, like Lin Yi, were newly enrolled freshmen.

Others were sophomores and juniors.

Their gazes were all filled with astonishment, shock, and disbelief.

Clearly, they had all seen Lin Yi’s spear technique.

”Excuse me...”

When Lin Yi and Wei Nan opened the doors to the Weapon Hall and walked out, they found the students outside were completely blocking the entrance.

They didn’t snap out of it until Wei Nan shouted.

When they looked at Lin Yi again, their expressions had become more complex.

Lin Yi, however, simply gave them a polite nod and walked past.

”Isn’t that the Martial Arts Examination Champion Scholar from the Old District?”

”Yeah, I saw him on the first day of school!”

”What kind of monster is he? Not long ago, he was practicing some kind of fist technique that looked really advanced, and that spear technique just now... it has to be a high-rank martial skill, right?”

”A high-rank martial skill? I don’t think so.”

”Did you not see the spear technique he was practicing? Besides a high-rank martial skill, what other grade of skill could produce an effect like that?”

”I told you that kid was something else. Ever since Chen Hao was forced to transfer from Zone 1 to Zone 9, and the Chen Family subsequently faded into obscurity, it’s been clear he’s not that simple!”

”The Chen Family fading away has something to do with him?”

”Isn’t he just a martial arts candidate from the Old District? How could he have that much power?”

”Heh! A martial arts candidate from the Old District? Don’t you guys get it yet? If he were really just an ordinary candidate, would he be qualified to live in Zone 1?”

”I think I heard something about that, too. The ones who took down the Chen Family were the Yi Family. Don’t tell me he’s from the Yi Family...”

”Hiss— Now that you mention it, that’s a real possibility!”

”Holy shit, then we’d better not mess with him in the future. We should avoid him when we see him. Don’t go looking for trouble. If he really is from the Yi Family and we piss him off, we’ll probably be the next Chen Hao!”

The more they talked, the more alarmed they became.

Eventually, every one of them was filled with apprehension.

However, Lin Yi and Wei Nan were completely oblivious to their gossip. After changing their clothes, they headed straight for the Zone 1 cafeteria.

When the two of them walked in, there were already quite a few students eating.

”Over here...”

Suddenly, Zhou Qi waved at them.

Lin Yi and Wei Nan nodded back at him and the others.

They first grabbed their trays and got their food from the service window.

Only then did they walk over to Zhou Qi, Sun Tao, and Shen Mengyi.

”Where’s Sister Xue? Didn’t she come with you?”

After sitting down, Lin Yi noticed Qin Zhaoxue wasn’t there.

They had all come back together yesterday.

Shen Mengyi shook her head. ”Senior Brother Lin, do you leave the dorm without your phone? Sister Xue said she sent you a message. Captain Chu called her away early this morning. Said there was a case!”

”Oh? Really?”

Lin Yi quickly reached for his phone.

But his pocket was empty.

He then remembered that he had left in such a hurry this morning that he’d left while Xiaoqi was still sleeping.

So, Lin Yi had rushed out of the dorm without even bringing Xiaoqi.

The main reason was that last night, while in the domain of the Star River Qi Transformation Technique, a spear technique had formed in his mind.

In order to test it out, he had come to the Cultivation Field first thing in the morning.

As a result, he had managed to perform the ”Tiger Roar” technique he’d just used.

Strictly speaking, he had comprehended this spear technique in his sleep...

”I left in a hurry this morning and forgot it!” Lin Yi said with a smile.

Wei Nan nodded with a grin. ”He sure did leave in a hurry. You guys have no idea, he woke me up at five-something this morning, insisting on dragging me to the Cultivation Field to practice his spear!”

”Man, there was no one outside, and the Cultivation Field was dead silent!”

”While you guys were still sleeping, Lin Yi and I had already started cultivating!”

Hearing this, Zhou Qi and Sun Tao both gave Lin Yi a surprised look.

Then they pouted and said, ”See? Talented and hardworking!”

”Lin Yi, are you trying to work us to death? How far ahead of us are you already? Take a break! Give us some room to catch up!” Sun Tao pleaded.

Zhou Qi nodded in agreement. ”What kind of spear technique was so important you couldn’t even sleep?”

”Tiger Roar!”

Lin Yi blurted out without a second thought.

”Tiger Roar? What kind of spear technique is that?” Zhou Qi and Sun Tao asked, looking puzzled.

Wei Nan took a bite of a meat bun and said indistinctly, ”Don’t ask me. I’d never heard of it before today either. It’s a name Lin Yi and I came up with at the Cultivation Field just now. We’re calling it the Tiger Roar Spear Technique!”

Zhou Qi and Sun Tao were left speechless.

Shen Mengyi quickly chimed in, ”Isn’t that a little... casual? Tiger Roar Spear Technique...”

Before she could finish, Wei Nan laughed. ”Does it matter if it’s casual? The main thing is that the technique is fierce and domineering, and he comprehended it all by himself!”

”Tell me, isn’t comparing yourself to others just asking for misery? Because I can’t take it anymore!”

”...”
