Prodigal System in the Flourishing City

Chapter 1118: Chapter 1117: So Tired Inside

Lu Xiaobu was walking on the road with Ye Changsheng, not asking where they were going or what they were doing, just following him blindly.

However, Lu Xiaobu casually asked, ”Is Liang Lan okay?”

Ye Changsheng, who was pondering how to awaken Lu Xiaobu, suddenly twitched at the corner of his mouth upon hearing this: ”How did you know?!”

He thought he hadn’t shown any flaw.

”Zhang Meng and Li Jin must have informed Liang Lan. Liang Lan isn’t here, but you are. What do you think?” Lu Xiaobu said listlessly.

”Uh... okay! Everything’s fine!” Ye Changsheng suddenly felt a bit of liver pain!

Not quite sure about the brains of you smart people, clearly trapped in a dead-end and self-destructing.

Yet they could still casually analyze why he appeared here in such a situation!?

So when you’re going full throttle, just how terrifying is your intelligence?! The phrase ’cunning as a fox’ must be describing you!

Looks like this journey is definitely not going to be peaceful. Not only for Lu Xiaobu’s self-cultivation, but it’s likely he’ll be in for some introspection himself!

”Oh, as long as it’s fine.” Lu Xiaobu nodded and didn’t think much, his mind still in a cycle of self-affirmation and self-denial.

Maybe some people don’t understand that feeling, so here’s a simple example.

For instance, the two consciousnesses in Lu Xiaobu’s mind seem to be having this conversation.

”Let’s go, drive to Shimen.”

”Why drive?”

”Driving is fast!”

”What’s the use of fast?”

”Saves time!”

”Where does the saved time go?”

”To sleep.”

”Since you’re going to sleep, isn’t it the same wherever you sleep? Why hurry?”

”There’s a bed at home!”

”There’s a bed in the car too! Beds are everywhere!”

”...”

That’s roughly what it means, got it?

When in Lu Xiaobu’s heart he wasn’t interested in anything, felt no desires, it was as if he could see through everything.

As a Buddhist saying goes, four elements are empty.

Seeing through everything made nothing seem worthwhile, as if everything in the end was useless, driven by external pressures, not really what he wanted.

Actually, Lu Xiaobu’s state is something people in modern society all experience, knowing they need to study, work, marry, and have children!

But, how many are truly acting according to their own desires?

Do you want to study?! Do you want to study this major? Do you want to do this job?!

Even, is the girl you’re marrying truly the person you want to spend your life with?!

If yes, then congratulations, you’re very happy!

However, the vast majority aren’t!

But, even if they aren’t, people won’t be like Lu Xiaobu, after all, they still need to live, have places they want to go but haven’t been to, life still has goals.

Lu Xiaobu, however, has experienced it all, eaten, drunk, been places, seen things, loved, hated, saved, killed, been a hero, and a devil.

After seeing a thousand sails, he looked back at himself, starting to ponder fundamental questions.

Is this what I want?! What is the meaning of life? What is the purpose of living this life?!

Ye Changsheng glanced at Lu Xiaobu.

His eyes were a chaotic mess, never had he seen someone’s eyes so confused.

They kept moving forward.

Soon, it was mealtime, and Pan Yang and Zheng Hai’s stomachs began to growl, but looking at Lu Xiaobu and Ye Changsheng who didn’t seem hungry at all, they exchanged glances and could only smile bitterly, continuing to follow.

They felt blisters forming on their feet, this walk was too long.

They were tired and hungry now, but didn’t dare complain.

Ye Changsheng was observing Lu Xiaobu discreetly.

He didn’t think such a simple method could stimulate Lu Xiaobu, but thought it was worth a try.

He wanted to see when Lu Xiaobu would say he couldn’t stand the hunger.

Once Lu Xiaobu opened his mouth saying he was hungry, it would mean having a desire, not big, but a good sign.

However.

After about another ten minutes of walking.

Pan Yang suddenly stepped forward and whispered to Ye Changsheng, ”Daoist Ye, are we just walking, not caring about Lu Xiaobu?”

”What do you mean?” Ye Changsheng was stunned, turning his head as he spoke, ”Lu Xiaobu isn’t following behind...”

He couldn’t continue!

Because Lu Xiaobu was gone!

”Where did he go?!” Ye Changsheng almost lost his mind.

How long has it been? A full-grown person just vanished?!

”He’s eating over there.” Zheng Hai pointed with a wry smile to a restaurant not far behind them.

”Pfft!”

Ye Changsheng almost spat out blood!

Damn it! He got ignored?!

At least you followed me out, right? If you wanted to eat, shouldn’t you at least inform me?!

A surge of unnamable anger rose from his heart!

Damn your stupidity!

I’ve been waiting for you to ask! But instead, you silently went to eat on your own?!

Zheng Hai and Pan Yang also smiled bitterly.

They were walking fine, but suddenly Lu Xiaobu turned around, went into a restaurant, sat on a chair, casually picked a few dishes from the menu, and continued pondering life.

Zheng Hai and Pan Yang were dumbfounded.

They knew Ye Changsheng’s identity after all.

As a grandmaster, he was taking them out, especially for Lu Xiaobu’s self-cultivation.

Shouldn’t he at least mention it when it comes to eating?!

They didn’t dare go, otherwise, they would’ve gone along!

Ye Changsheng stormed into the restaurant and sat angrily opposite Lu Xiaobu: ”Why did you come to eat?!”

This Lu Xiaobu was too much!

”Hungry. Are you not letting me eat?” Lu Xiaobu lifted an eyelid, then let it droop again.

”Of course not! What I mean is, shouldn’t you notify me?!”

”Did I spend your money?”

”No.”

”Then why should I notify you?”

”Uh... you followed me out this time!”

”So you didn’t want me to eat at first?”

”Not at all! Eating is necessary!”

”So if I notified you, you’d let me eat?!”

”Yes!”

”So that means, whether I inform you or not, I would come to eat, right?”

”Seems right.”

”Is there anything wrong with the act of eating itself?”

”Nothing wrong with eating.”

”Then that’s it, we’ll talk about everything else later. I’m eating now. I ordered for you guys too, thank me.” Lu Xiaobu said and started eating.

”Th-thanks!” Ye Changsheng, listening to Lu Xiaobu’s logic, kept twitching at the corners of his mouth—you make such a compelling argument, I’m at a loss for words!

He suddenly felt very tired!

If this continues, he didn’t know if he could help Lu Xiaobu out of his predicament, but he was surely at risk of becoming completely withdrawn!
