Prodigal System in the Flourishing City

Chapter 1103: Chapter 1102: Interrupted

Lu Xiaobu listened to Su Luoxue sharing her experiences with Zhang Shilin, and Zhang Shilin was listening intently, even taking notes. He just knew, that’s it, trying to lose money is going to be hard now!

He finally understood where that widely circulated saying on Earth came from back in the day!

He wants to say it too!

The most regretful thing in my life is creating the Lu Group. I don’t love money, I’ve never touched money!

What kind of expressions are those?!

This is seriously true!

Now that the nonsense is over, most of the contestants have arrived, and the competition is about to begin!

The participants were so excited to see that not many people showed up!

Only some writers from nearby came. Those from afar are probably still on their way!

Doesn’t that mean they have fewer competitors?!

Doesn’t that mean that million is as good as theirs?!

”Alright, let’s start with a little appetizer to assess your skills,” Lu Xiaobu yawned and said.

Zhang Shilin had just put away her notes when she heard Lu Xiaobu start!

And then, she was dumbfounded!

No way! She had completely forgotten about that!

It’s starting just like that?!

She looked around at the venue without even a banner!

The participants were bustling around like a marketplace!

She couldn’t help but twitch her lips madly!

Teacher, weren’t you going to reform the literary scene?!

Weren’t you going to redefine what it means to be a writer?!

No way does this place look like a million-dollar competition!

Look, the auntie who just finished buying groceries heard there was a prize and rushed over with her groceries!

Auntie, are you a writer too?! What grade are you in?!

No matter how clueless she was, she knew that this was definitely not how you organize a competition!

She looked at Su Luoxue again, who gave a helpless smile—did you really think the boss was trying to do something grand?!

He just wanted to vent for you and have some fun himself. Reforming the literary world might not be true, but messing with this bunch definitely is!

Look.

The boss’s topic was announced.

”Tell them to write a poem with the theme of praising me. Those who can do it are qualified; those who can’t can just sit on the sidelines,” Lu Xiaobu said offhandedly to Su Luoxue.

”Uh!”

Su Luoxue, upon hearing this, couldn’t help but twitch her lips!

Boss, I have to say.

This... this... this is a bit over the top, and a little shameless!

People aren’t stupid. Even if you give a topic somewhat related to you, they’d still praise you!

But to outright ask them to write a poem praising you, this... this... this...

”What’s the big deal? Tell them if they want to do it, do it; if not, scram!” Lu Xiaobu rolled his eyes and said directly.

Shameless?!

What is face?!

That’s what strength brings!

When you have strength, you have face. If you don’t have strength but want face, that’s just unnecessary suffering!

Take the ancient ministers, for example, do you know what one of their tasks was?!

Praise the Emperor!

That means flattering the Emperor!

This wasn’t some unwritten rule but a clear one, something you had to learn as a minister!

Who would dare say the Emperor was shameless?!

He’s just in a whimsy mood wanting to hear some flattery, he doesn’t really need you guys for that!

To put it bluntly, isn’t your boss the Literature Association?!

Even though on the surface the Literature Association opposes him, if he really went there and they didn’t flatter him, it’d be his loss!

If you’re truly awesome, there’s no need to show off!

Because it’s unnecessary!

Su Luoxue forced a smile: ”Alright, I’ll announce it!”

”Wait!” Zhang Shilin suddenly stopped.

”What’s up?” Lu Xiaobu was taken aback.

Zhang Shilin covered her face, feeling a bit ashamed to be seen. Is this her teacher?! The one with literary prowess that shakes the world?!

”Teacher, can you really filter out writers this way?!” Zhang Shilin asked helplessly: ”After filtering, they’re all just bootlickers!”

”I never planned to filter! Would writers with true moral integrity come here to embarrass themselves?!” Lu Xiaobu rolled his eyes and said.

”Then why are you...” Zhang Shilin heard Lu Xiaobu’s confirmation, suddenly couldn’t hold it in anymore: ”Teacher! Did you really spend over a million just to hear some flattery?! Teacher, this isn’t the behavior of a true writer!”

”Even if these people already have some ethical issues, doing this just makes it worse!”

”This is too much...”

Zhang Shilin got more and more worked up!

She had been somewhat confused just now, and combined with her trust in Lu Xiaobu, she hadn’t really thought Lu Xiaobu was just doing it for fun!

But now she understood and couldn’t stand it anymore!

This is too much!

This isn’t a reform at all, it’s chaos!

As someone with high respect for literature, she absolutely won’t allow this!

”Alright, alright! Just having some fun, if you’re interested, continue, I’ve laid the foundation, the rest is up to you.” Lu Xiaobu shook his head and said helplessly.

He understood upon hearing this, the game is over, given his disciple’s serious nature, if he continued, she might do something unexpected.

Like kneeling and begging him to not mess up the literary world.

Don’t doubt it, this Zhang Shilin really would dare.

She’s got a bullheaded nature!

”Luo Xue, accompany Shilin, I’m leaving.” Lu Xiaobu sighed and said.

What the heck did I come here for?! Just to play soy sauce?!

He originally wanted to thoroughly humiliate these people, but his disciple was not happy, what could he do?!

Looks like if I want to play, I’ll need to find people on a similar level; otherwise, it’s really not fun!

”Alright.” Su Luoxue was also helpless.

The boss was probably helpless too. Meeting Zhang Shilin meant all his plans to mess around were foiled!

But there’s no choice in the matter, you’re her teacher after all?!

”Competition is paused!” Su Luoxue shouted coldly to the murmuring writers below.

”Huh?! Wasn’t there going to be a competition?!”

”I was almost ready!”

”Yeah! Why?! This isn’t according to the rules!”

”...”

The crowd was instantly dissatisfied, isn’t this messing with people!

Su Luoxue’s face was icy cold: ”You are not entitled to ask why! No reason! If you don’t want to, leave!”

She was the boss’s secretary, and with the boss not around, she represented the boss’s face!

These folks actually dared to chatter?!

If it were Liang Lan, she’d probably slap each of you silly, and you’d still have to take it!

The crowd immediately fell silent, not daring to speak a word!

Only Zhang Shilin stared in a daze, is this still the same secretary who acted like a kitten in front of the teacher?!

How did she suddenly become like this?!
