Prodigal System in the Flourishing City

Chapter 767: Chapter 765: Old Fox [Fifth Update]

While the outside world was in a turmoil, Lu Xiaobu was meeting someone.

It was that American collector—Smith.

”What do you want from me?”

Lu Xiaobu looked at Smith in front of him and said.

”I want to collaborate with you.”

Smith said earnestly.

Lu Xiaobu: ”In what area?!”

Smith: ”Bamboo art?”

Lu Xiaobu: ”You can collaborate on that?! Isn’t bamboo art just an art piece to you? Why is there a need for collaboration on this?!”

In his view, art has always been the patent of the few, and you talk about getting the public to accept so-called art?!

That’s nothing more than a fool’s dream.

Let alone the so-called collaboration!

When Smith heard this, he just smiled and said: ”Mr. Lu, you might not have been involved in this kind of business yet, so that’s why you’d say something like this. Art can be very profitable.”

Lu Xiaobu raised an eyebrow: ”How so?”

If it could provide the students with a more stable income, then it would certainly have more benefits for the school’s construction compared to the current situation of running for three years post-opening.

Smith elaborated: ”Firstly, everyone knows that speculation in art pieces is prevalent, but of course, as you said, it’s a business for the few.”

Lu Xiaobu: ”Go on.”

Smith nodded: ”Secondly, it’s about the value of the artists themselves, just like the five masters of bamboo art from Japan this time, although they experienced difficulties in Heavenly Dynasty, their appearance fee was not small, they are also kind of celebrities in a way! I know you have a film and television company, so if you think of them as celebrities, it’ll make sense!”

Lu Xiaobu nodded: ”Still, this remains a business of the few, you know that’s not what I want.”

Smith smiled: ”Of course, the last point I’m going to say is key, and that’s luxury goods.”

Lu Xiaobu frowned: ”Luxury goods?! How so? Can bamboo art even be considered luxury goods?”

Smith: ”Of course, you might not have paid attention, but in fact, many luxury goods are intertwined with art! Once a luxury item is associated with the word ’art’, it will become emblematic of luxury goods, fully showcasing its value.”

Lu Xiaobu frowned, noncommittally, as he had never dealt with the luxury goods industry before.

”Oh, Mr. Lu, please take a look.” Smith took out a pre-prepared paper: ”Look, the topmost is a work by the international artist—George William, this painting was sold for a sky-high price, people are proud to own an original piece.”

Lu Xiaobu: ”Continue.”

Smith: ”Moving on, putting aside counterfeits and imitations, comes the luxury goods industry; inspired by higher-valued art pieces compared to luxury goods, creating and crafting luxury goods with an artistic flair is the most profitable ring!”

At this point, Lu Xiaobu nodded, probably understanding Smith’s point!

In short, why is luxury called luxury?!

Actually, luxury goods are nothing but the daily items of the upper class, it becomes a luxury good when placed among common people.

And art pieces are undoubtedly the most luxurious items, they are considered luxury even for the upper class.

So, Smith means to leverage art pieces to set luxury goods as the trend, and then profit from it.

This is a perfectly comprehensive operation system!

”Why choose me?”

Lu Xiaobu continued to ask.

”At first, we intended to collaborate with Zhan Longyan, but due to your presence, we changed our collaboration target,” Smith maintained the straightforward thinking typical of Westerners, direct and simple.

”First, your art pieces are more valuable than his!”

”Second, his bamboo art is all from Japan, adding him to the loop has already paid an extra cost!”

”Third, whether in Heavenly Dynasty or in America, you clearly have more influence!”

”These three points are why my boss chose to collaborate with you!”

Smith came here well-informed—Lu Xiaobu preferred directness, so maintaining their Western mindset would make it easier to garner his favor.

Sure enough.

”Good choice.”

Lu Xiaobu readily agreed.

This is a mutually beneficial situation.

What does this amount to?!

Lu Xiaobu holds the channels of the trend and controls the manufacturing factory, while Smith and his team are responsible for sales and operations.

Thus, even before Lu Xiaobu’s school starts classes, he has already found a future path for students choosing this industry!

Whether or not they follow Lu Xiaobu, they can confidently learn and promote it!

Good choice, isn’t it?

”Thank you, this is absolutely the right decision,” Smith was overjoyed!

”By the way, I have one more request,” Lu Xiaobu suddenly remembered something.

”Please tell,” Smith immediately nodded.

”Add this.” Lu Xiaobu took out a logo that everyone knew from an extinct website—Lu Xiaobu certified!

”This!”

Smith was hesitant upon seeing the logo.

This move was more terrifying than their concessions.

Because once this logo becomes habituated in people’s minds, they would inevitably be heavily bound by Lu Xiaobu.

Let’s give a simple example!

Diamond!

The moment these words come up, everyone knows what they represent, right?!

Expensive! Rare! Luxurious! Love! Eternal!

But in reality, diamonds are not so rare!

There are plenty of diamond mines.

If all were mined, diamonds would become as ordinary as any commodity!

And do you think people don’t know about this?!

In this age of the internet, how could they not know?!

But even if they knew, what difference does it make?!

Diamonds have already formed a set impression, you say more, it’s useless!

They represent expensive! Rare! Luxurious! Love! Eternal! Just say if you’ll buy it or not!

And that Lu Xiaobu certification, it has the same effect as diamonds!

Smith suddenly realized that he had underestimated Lu Xiaobu!

He originally thought the collaboration would be easily settled, but didn’t expect that Lu Xiaobu’s casual move would be lethal!

This Lu Xiaobu was not to be underestimated!

There’s an old saying in Heavenly Dynasty—like thunder out of a silent place!

In his view, this phrase was about people like Lu Xiaobu!

”I need to discuss this.”

Smith finally could only say this.

”Of course, take your time to discuss.”

Lu Xiaobu nodded: ”If you guys decide, just contact Liang Lan, I won’t ask further.”

”Alright.”

Smith nodded.

”Oh, one more thing, I’m a bit impatient. If your side is slow, I might just do it myself.”

Lu Xiaobu shrugged, nonchalantly making a point.

With this statement, Smith felt like he had fallen into an ice cellar—damn, who the hell said Lu Xiaobu is straightforward?! This is simply a cunning old fox, wise but feigning foolishness! Each move is more ruthless than the last!
