Prodigal System in the Flourishing City

Chapter 540: Chapter 538: Think You Can Hide?! You’re Too Confident!【Fifth Update】

”Young Master, just as you instructed, we’ve indeed found out!”

Liang Lan placed something in front of Lu Xiaobu:

”That Qin Xunchang is really the Black Hand behind the scenes, almost the entire spicy strip black factory is at his beck and call!”

”They have an organization, with Qin Xunchang as the boss! He’s in charge of providing protection and money laundering activities!”

Back when the market was flooded with shoddy spicy strips, it was difficult to track down due to the overwhelming quantities, but once the number was reduced to ten percent, they were detected in no time!

However, finding them is one thing, but Liang Lan’s feelings were a mixed bag!

She was thrilled to finally have a lead, so the Young Master could clear his name!

But she was also outraged, for ignorance was bliss but the truth was a shock to the system!

So many people, for so many years, consuming spicy strips that were produced in such a place!

”Fine, it’s good that we found it.”

Lu Xiaobu picked up the documents on the table for a look.

The more he looked, the uglier his expression became!

They were photos of the small processing plant.

The disarray and filth inside were clearly visible.

The first photo showed scattered, unpackaged spicy strip pieces piled on a table, with colorful food packaging bags carelessly strewn on the floor.

The second photo showed several large machines, which looked to be in operation, covered with red and black grease.

The third photo depicted the floor covered with black oily stains, with several yellow plastic bags, white plastic buckets, and blackened iron barrels beside the machines, containing a variety of powders and liquids, with a big scoop in one of the plastic bags.

The fourth photo featured a person, a young man with fluffy earmuffs, standing between several machines, fiddling with a mixer-like rectangular machine.

Inside the machine were many dark red, glossy spicy strip pieces tumbling about.

There was also an orange basket underneath the machine, filled with something dark and murky.

Liang Lan continued with a disgusted frown, ”Young Master, you have no idea, when we entered, one of the factory chimneys kept spewing out thick black smoke, making the air in the yard very polluted, not only pungent but also filled with a lot of dust.”

”Once inside the workshop, the stench was unbearable! All sorts of synthetic fragrance odors!”

”The work shown in the photos is their norm, talk less of sanitation, they don’t even wear gloves or masks!”

”I even saw someone dragging the spicy strips on the floor, then directly throwing them into the machines!”

”As for their ingredients, a large quantity of artificial flavorings, which is fairly normal! But then there are leather meal, lime, hydrochloric acid, hydrogen peroxide, gelatin, you name it, they’ve got it!”

”That barrel in the photo, it might look okay in the picture, but when we were there on site, it really looked like slop water!”

”I just don’t understand how they can bear to produce with these things, and still sell it! And even to students!”

Not only did Liang Lan’s face turn green as she spoke, but the faces of the three ladies around also turned green in waves, almost throwing up at the sight of the photos!

Even Zhang Meng, who was used to surviving in the wilderness, frowned.

The wilderness offers scant food options, but at least it’s edible!

But can this stuff really be eaten?!

”Bring them up here!”

With a snap, Lu Xiaobu flung the photos to the ground, his face grim.

”Yes, Li Jin, bring them up!”

Liang Lan shouted towards Li Jin outside the door.

”Hurry up!”

Li Jin pushed two people straight in from the door, even kicking them.

Clearly, Li Jin was utterly disgusted with them!

”Young Master, the older one is the owner of this small workshop, and the young one is a worker, the same person in the photos!”

Liang Lan whispered an explanation.

”Hm.”

Lu Xiaobu nodded, then turned to the older one, ”You’re the boss? What’s your name?”

The boss looked at Lu Xiaobu timidly: ”My name is Ren Yu.”

”Tell me, what’s your relationship with Qin Xunchang?”

Lu Xiaobu asked.

”I don’t know Qin Xunchang.”

Ren Yu shivered and shook his head as he spoke.

Liang Lan spoke softly from the side, ”Young Master, this Ren Yu’s lips are sealed tight. We got the information from other workers.”

Lu Xiaobu nodded to show he understood, then continued asking, ”Do you know who I am?”

”You are, Lu Xiaobu.”

Ren Yu stole a glance at Lu Xiaobu, then quickly lowered his head, not daring to look up.

”Good, knowing me means your head is still clear.”

Lu Xiaobu spoke calmly, ”I don’t like beating around the bush, and I don’t like to make empty promises like Qin Xunchang. I’ll ask you one thing, now that you’re in Shimen, in my place, can Qin Xunchang still protect you?”

Lu Xiaobu’s voice wasn’t loud, but each word carried weight.

Ren Yu’s body noticeably shivered, but he still clenched his teeth and said nothing.

”Fine, if you won’t speak, take him away.”

Lu Xiaobu waved his hand, ”Prepare some food for him. Oh, just give him those spicy strips from his factory. And as for drink, the swill from his factory seems just fine!”

”Yes, Young Master!”

Li Jin nodded earnestly. That’s how you deal with such unscrupulous businessmen!

”No! Don’t!”

Ren Yu heard this and immediately started waving his hands frantically, ”Eating too much of that stuff can be poisonous! And that swill is even more undrinkable!”

”You damn well know it! Come on, I’ll feed it to you myself! Especially that bucket of swill, I’ll watch you drink it all!”

Upon hearing this, Li Jin was so angry he kicked out with his leg!

What kind of person is this!

When he eats, he knows it’s poisonous, but when selling it, suddenly he doesn’t know!

”No! No! No! I’ll talk! I’ll talk!”

Ren Yu fell to the ground and immediately cried out.

He could endure eating the spicy strips, as long as he didn’t eat too much, it was bearable!

But, that trough of swill, no, the ”seasoning”, he truly couldn’t drink that!

It was full of lime, essence, and other stuff that could be lethal!

This Lu Xiaobu is too ruthless!

To resort to such measures!

”Want to talk now? I don’t want to listen anymore! Take him away! Eat well, drink well!”

Lu Xiaobu’s mouth curled up with a chilling curve, ”Rest assured, it won’t be long before Qin Xunchang joins you in eating and drinking. But you’re better off; at least you get to eat spicy strips, while he’ll have to eat shit!”

With that, Lu Xiaobu waved his hand, signaling Li Jin to take the man away.

”No! I won’t drink it! I’ll talk! I’m talking! Save me! Please, no!”

Ren Yu’s screams echoed over.

However, no matter how loudly he screamed, he couldn’t break free.

”Sister Lan, organize the materials, we’re about to tear Qin Xunchang’s mask off!” Lu Xiaobu said to Liang Lan.

”Yes, Young Master!”

Liang Lan nodded, her eyes blazing with fury!

Lu Xiaobu’s lips grew even colder.

Qin Xunchang, I told you you’d eat shit, and you can’t escape this meal of shit!

Rest assured, it’ll be piping hot!
