Zhan Shen: It’s Just a Sacrifice, How Can I Become a Villain?

299: The Twelve Golden Immortals of Jiejiao!Golden Cicada Great Master stood at the foot of the mountain; although he didn’t know exactly what had happened up there, seeing the weary figures of Celestial Worthy of the Primordial Beginning and Celestial Worthy of the Way and Virtue, he knew that the Heavenly Court had changed masters.

”Two Celestial Venerables, was the Heavenly Court taken away by the Primeval Lord of Heaven?”

Celestial Worthy of the Primordial Beginning’s eyes were somewhat downcast, ”Golden Cicada, gather everyone together.

I will explain the specific reasons to everyone.”

Golden Cicada Great Master nodded, not pressing further.

Yuquan Mountain, Jinxia Cave.

Yang Jian sat cross-legged outside the Immortal Cave; ever since the Cangnan God War, he had been commanded by the Celestial Venerable to bring the Twelve Golden Immortals to this blessed land.

This was also where Yang Jian once Cultivated.

There was a miraculous aspect to this blessed land: time flowed slowly.

The ratio of time flow here to the outside world was one to twenty.

Although only a few months had passed since the Cangnan God War, the Twelve Golden Immortals Cultivating in Jinxia Cave had already grown into teenagers, having aged over a decade.

They were originally Deities in Reincarnation, and under Yang Jian’s careful guidance, the Twelve Golden Immortals progressed rapidly. With the augmentation of Miracle Power, they could now ascend to the God Realm in one step, as long as they comprehended the concept of life and death.

Inside Jinxia Cave, it had been twenty days since the Twelve Golden Immortals began their closed-door Cultivation.

Yang Jian was somewhat anxious; he had long known the news that the Great Xia Gods had failed to repair the Heavenly Court.

Currently, only he and the Twelve Golden Immortals were unaffected by the backlash.

If the Twelve Golden Immortals could successfully comprehend the concept of life and death, he could add more fighting power to the Great Xia Gods.

If their closed-door Cultivation failed, the situation of the Great Xia Gods would be precarious. Once other foreign gods detected the true situation, the consequences would be unimaginable.

Thinking of this, a trace of gloom deepened in Yang Jian’s Heart-Nature.

”This closed-door Cultivation of the Twelve Golden Immortals is a bit long!”

Twenty days in Jinxia Cave was equivalent to four hundred days in the outside world. By this calculation, the Twelve Golden Immortals had actually been in closed-door Cultivation for over a year.

The longest previous closed-door Cultivation had been no more than ten days.

”I hope everything goes smoothly...” Yang Jian murmured to himself.

Inside Jinxia Cave, wisps of ethereal immortal mist enveloped the area.

Within a spacious area inside the Immortal Cave, twelve small Immortal Caves were arranged on the stone walls, where the Twelve Golden Immortals were in closed-door Cultivation.

Rhythmic Divine Power echoed within the Immortal Cave; it was the critical moment for their Breakthrough.

Inside, each child had their eyes tightly shut, sensing the invisible Dao rhythm.

Just at this critical juncture, an anomaly occurred.

In the minds of the Twelve Golden Immortals, the scene of Cangnan being destroyed by the combined efforts of Loki and Indra simultaneously appeared.

Countless infants in swaddling clothes wailed helplessly amidst the ruins. The once bustling Cangnan City had turned into a wasteland, with bodies strewn across the ground.

In the vision, they saw their parents fighting desperately. Even though they were utterly powerless against the Mysterious forces, at the critical moment, they bravely stood before the Frost Giants, using their bodies to form the last wall of defense for the children...

Memories, like a film reel recording pain, continuously replayed in the minds of the Twelve Golden Immortals.

Guangchengzi, the leader of the Twelve Golden Immortals, noticed something was wrong. He never expected a mental demon to appear at this crucial moment of Breakthrough.

For them, the only regret was their powerlessness when facing the destruction of Cangnan.

”Everyone, guard your Heart-Nature, do not act rashly!” Guangchengzi quickly warned.

Although they were once Golden Immortals, similar to Pang Pang’s situation, after experiencing Reincarnation, their thoughts would also be influenced by the memories of this current life.

Essentially, they were still children in their Heart-Nature. While Reincarnation could preserve past life memories, the memories of this life would also have a significant impact on them; this was the price of Reincarnation.

Inside the Immortal Cave, the expressions on the faces of the other Golden Immortals varied: some were in pain, some in despair, some self-reproaching...

Although Guangchengzi had warned them, the situation did not seem to improve. Even Guangchengzi himself was not feeling well at the moment.

Reincarnation naturally involved Karma with many people; this was something no one could escape.

Just then, the scene in their minds changed. A gentle, nourishing spring rain descended from the sky.

That fine spring rain, like ox hair, actually contained infinite life force.

Sweet Dew descended upon the world, nourishing every inch of Cangnan’s land.

Injured people recovered from their wounds, and the Souls of the deceased found release.

And the Twelve Golden Immortals also gained tremendous benefits from this Sweet Dew.

The Power of Miracle granted them the ability to Breakthrough the risk of a Mortal body transforming into Dao, and this Sweet Dew cleansed the Impurities within their bodies, continuously enhancing their Aptitude.

Then, they saw many Souls entering a Peach Gate. Beyond the Peach Gate was the realm of ghosts.

”So that’s how it is? So their Souls have all found release.” One Golden Immortal shed tears, his previous pain vanishing, replaced by a sense of relief.

The situation of the other Golden Immortals was largely similar.

Guangchengzi breathed a sigh of relief; the Qi Deviation he had worried about had, thankfully, not occurred.

However, he didn’t expect that even when they were still infants, they had incurred such a significant amount of Karma from others.

This Karma had to be repaid.

Inside Jinxia Cave, there was a profound silence.

The Twelve Golden Immortals had comprehended the threshold of life and death, but their hearts felt even heavier.

After a long while, Guangchengzi slowly spoke, ”Everyone, you must have all seen it, right?”

The others either nodded or responded, clearly, the previous visions were not accidental.

”So, everyone also knows about the Primeval Lord of Heaven establishing the Interception Sect?” Just now, Guangchengzi had a sudden insight, and a piece of information about the Primeval Lord of Heaven surged into his mind.

”It seems someone planned this,” Chijingzi slowly said.

The Twelve Golden Immortals had an unspoken understanding: if they didn’t resolve this Karma, their comprehension of the life and death threshold would not be complete.

”Isn’t the answer already before us?” Immortal Master Taiyi slowly spoke, ”Currently, Great Xia is fraught with crises, the Heavenly Court is incomplete and cannot be repaired. The only hope lies with the Interception Sect.

This poor Daoist is willing to take this step.”

With Immortal Master Taiyi’s declaration, the other Golden Immortals no longer hesitated.

”Sectarian biases are insignificant; what we protect are the living beings of Great Xia.”

Guangchengzi nodded; it seemed everyone shared the same thoughts.

”Since that is the case, we shall join the Interception Sect today to seize a glimmer of hope for Great Xia.”

Boom!

As Guangchengzi’s words fell, a brilliant light erupted from Yuquan Mountain.

Yang Jian, sitting cross-legged outside the Immortal Cave, looked at the ethereal Divine Light with excitement.

”Excellent! The Twelve Golden Immortals have finally comprehended the life and death threshold!”

Yang Jian’s suspended heart finally settled. He let out a long breath and muttered to himself, ”I have finally lived up to Celestial Worthy of the Primordial Beginning’s trust. Yang Jian has done it.”

At this moment, a majestic voice came from Jinxia Cave, ”The Twelve Golden Immortals of the Interception Sect, thank you, Fellow Daoist, for your protection.”

Yang Jian, who was initially happy, heard this and a question mark appeared on his forehead.

The Twelve Golden Immortals of the Interception Sect? Why did that sound a bit off?
