Zhan Shen: It’s Just a Sacrifice, How Can I Become a Villain?

140: Ghost General Zhao Kongcheng!“Woof woof woof…”

Little Black Dog barked furiously towards the northeast, cursing under his breath.

What’s going on? Which son of a bitch is trying to steal my job?

Can’t they find their own work?

Yang Jin hadn’t expected this situation to occur. In this day and age, even Souls were being snatched?

And what did Song Zhong want with these Souls?

What was the deal with Zhao Kongcheng, who walked out of the Peach Gate?

Appearing in the present world in the form of a Soul was absolutely impossible without a special Forbidden Territory.

Moreover, he could feel that Zhao Kongcheng’s Soul was very strong.

“Heavenly Venerable, what exactly are those two peach trees? Since I became a deity, I have never heard of such a divine object. Even in the Queen Mother of the West’s Peach Garden, there aren’t similar varieties.”

Yang Jin turned to look at Heavenly Venerable, only to find that Heavenly Venerable was also intently staring at the Peach Gate.

He muttered to himself, seemingly not hearing Yang Jin’s words at all: “In the midst of the vast ocean, there is Mount Du Suo. Upon it stands a great peach tree, its branches winding for three thousand li. Between its branches, to the northeast, is the Peach Gate, the entrance and exit for all ghosts. I never thought it would truly manifest in the world.”

“Heavenly Venerable, what are you saying? Isn’t the Peach Gate just Emperor Fengdu’s Gate of Hell?” Yang Jin asked with a puzzled expression.

In the myths of various systems, there is the concept of a Netherworld Gate, but in various versions of myths, there doesn’t seem to be any description of a Peach Gate.

Peach trees are generally regarded as a symbol of “life” and seem to have no connection with death.

Heavenly Venerable shook his head, “It’s normal for you not to have heard of it, because I’ve only seen related records in some fragmented ancient texts.”

His gaze fixed on the Peach Gate summoned by Song Zhong, and he slowly spoke, “That is not something that belongs to this era, or rather, it does not belong to this Universe.”

Yang Jin was stunned when he heard Heavenly Venerable’s words.

“Doesn’t belong to this Universe? Are these peach trees related to those monsters on the moon?”

The reason why the mist descended on this planet was rooted in the invasion of a group of Outer Gods who called themselves the Cthulhu system.

They were not beliefs born of this world, but a group of indescribable monsters.

No one knew where they came from.

They only knew that this group of monsters had extremely strong corrupting properties, and the intensity of that battle back then was indescribable.

The Great Xia Gods chose to abandon their Divine Power and Physical Body, transforming into nine nation-suppressing divine steles, which then resisted the invasion of the mist.

Other systems of deities, however, chose the method of bloody sacrifice, at the cost of their citizens’ lives, in exchange for the chance to barely survive in the mist.

Heavenly Venerable shook his head, “No, there are too many unknown places in this Universe, but what is certain is that those Cthulhu entities have nothing to do with this Peach Gate.”

“Then, Heavenly Venerable, will you intervene?”

Watching the Souls of Cangnan get closer and closer to the Peach Gate, Yang Jin was a little anxious, because among those Souls was his birth mother.

Heavenly Venerable gently waved his whisk, “Don’t panic. As the saying goes, fortune is where misfortune lies, and misfortune is where fortune hides. Just keep watching.”

In the distant high sky, the completely black Zhao Kongcheng stood with one hand in his pocket, a peach branch dangling from his mouth.

If it weren’t for the dense Evil Qi emanating from his body, you would think this person was just a common ruffian on the street.

Chen Muye also mingled among the many Souls, following the procession to the Peach Gate.

“Come, come, everyone line up, one by one!”

Zhao Kongcheng tucked the peach branch from his mouth behind his ear, “Ah, if only there were cigarettes in the Netherworld!”

After speaking, he savored his grand entrance just now, “It feels really good to show off!”

While savoring the moment, Zhao Kongcheng searched among the many Souls and soon found Chen Muye among them.

He took three steps in two, arriving instantly in front of Chen Muye.

“Captain, long time no see!”

There was no sadness on Zhao Kongcheng’s face; instead, he seemed quite excited.

“Old Zhao, is it really you?” Chen Muye asked softly.

“Haha, of course it’s me! Do you remember how you used to always ask me how I ended up looking like this? Well, now I’m truly a ghost in name and in reality!” Zhao Kongcheng was still as boisterous as ever.

Chen Muye felt relieved; this was the right vibe, it had to be Zhao Kongcheng.

He had a thousand questions he wanted to ask Zhao Kongcheng, but ultimately he asked:

“Kongcheng, your hand…”

“Oh, you mean this!” Zhao Kongcheng looked at his left hand, “I got a minor injury while fighting for territory with those fake foreign devils down below. It’s nothing worth mentioning.”

“Ah?” Chen Muye was stunned. So he got injured fighting down there. “No, Kongcheng, is it that… lively down there too?”

“Hmph!” Zhao Kongcheng probably had a nicotine craving, so he put the peach branch back in his mouth. “Those old folks are all liars. They all say you get peace after death. Let me tell you, after death, it’s unbelievably busy. It’s a complete mess down there now.”

Zhao Kongcheng opened up, “Let me tell you, Hades, Osiris of Egypt, Hela of Norse mythology, and various other Netherworld deities all have their own spheres of influence. It’s incredibly complex.”

“When I first went down, I was completely bewildered, but then I slowly made a name for myself through battles, and only then did I have the capital to establish myself.”

“My purpose in coming up this time is also to recruit soldiers and horses.”

Chen Muye heard a huge piece of gossip. Although he didn’t quite understand it, he was greatly shocked.

Why did it feel like both worlds were the same? If that’s the case, what’s the difference between living and dying?

“Then how did you get involved with Song Zhong?”

Chen Muye asked the doubt in his heart. He couldn’t understand how this young man seemed to have a connection with everyone?

Even the deceased Zhao Kongcheng was not spared.

“Oh, that. After I died, he was the one who guided me to the Netherworld.”

“He has that ability? When you died, his Realm was at most no more than Chuan Realm.” Chen Muye said in surprise.

“This…” A hint of embarrassment appeared on Zhao Kongcheng’s face, “Lord of the Nation’s Divine Might is unfathomable; I dare not comment rashly.”

???

Chen Muye was full of question marks, “What did you say? Who is the Lord of the Nation? It wouldn’t be… Song Zhong, would it?”

Zhao Kongcheng nodded, “I know you might be quite shocked, but that’s the truth.”

Chen Muye looked at Zhao Kongcheng. Beneath his playful expression was the accumulated wear and tear of countless hardships.

“Haha, Captain, you don’t have to look at me like that. Although the time you experienced in the real world wasn’t long, the Netherworld has its own Law of Time. I’ve already been fighting for decades.”

“After we go down, I’ll take you all to tour the Ghost Country. Oh, by the way, the Ghost Country’s name is ‘Zhong’!”

“Ah?” Chen Muye’s mind buzzed, “Is the name that straightforward?”

“Hahaha, it’s concise and to the point! Oh, by the way, let me reintroduce myself to you.”

Zhao Kongcheng put away his playful expression and became serious, as if returning to the solemnity he had when he first Transmigrated through the Peach Gate.

“I am Ghost General Zhao Kongcheng, here to guide all of you to the Ghost Country for rebirth, to attain eternal bliss!”
