I Just Wanted to Be a Galactic Hunter—Why Am I on the Wanted List?

Federal Calendar 7708, December 3rd, the darkest hour before dawn.

After Cook P. Jones and Loren walked out of the Illusionary Night’s Dream tavern, the two of them, led by the large black dog, vanished along the street’s shadows...

As wanted fugitives of the Federation, moving along various street shadows was a most fundamental skill.

Within Federation territory, the social environment was extremely unique.

In the distant past, not long after the arrival of the Federation’s new era.

The Law Enforcement Department, far less weakened than it is today, once wanted to install various sophisticated surveillance camera equipment on the streets, but this idea of the Law Enforcement Department ultimately came to nothing...

This idea, aside from wasting the funds allocated by the Energy Department, had no other obvious function.

Thanks to the Federation’s ”simple and honest folkways,” those surveillance camera devices installed above the streets often didn’t survive more than two days.

They were all quietly destroyed by those Superhumans who ”accidentally” passed by...

Superhumans accustomed to freedom rejected any degree of surveillance, no matter what excuse the Law Enforcement Department used...A disturbance that swept across the entire Federation began.

Countless crazy Superhumans and various ambitious individuals began attacking Law Enforcement Department personnel, both openly and covertly...

And after squandering massive amounts of funds, the Law Enforcement Department was also sued by the Energy Department in the Federation Supreme Court.

In court, the Energy Department accused the Law Enforcement Department of everything: wasting Federation funds, violent control, violating the privacy of the Federation populace, secretly colluding with gangs...

Ultimately, under the coordinated encirclement and suppression by the Energy Department and countless Superhumans, the Law Enforcement Department became what it is today...

The highest Federation Council also, at this time, promulgated the ”Superhuman Administration Regulations” and the ”Federation Citizen Privacy Protection Act,” which could be called the source of all evils...

From then on, the Law Enforcement Department became completely dispirited.

Even to this day, no politician in the Federation Political Arena dares to propose a political stance of surveilling the Federation’s numerous Superhumans.

They fear dying at their own desks, with the ironic cause of death being ”suicide”...

And the Law Enforcement Department, having offended the Energy Department and countless Superhumans, could only silently align itself with the Security Department, becoming a de facto subordinate department of the Security Department...

With the arrival of the Federation’s new era, the first thing the Federation buried was this former power department—the Law Enforcement Department.

With the conclusion of this distant past event, the four major power departments within Federation territory also became three major power departments.

This created a situation of mutual checks and balances between the military, the Energy Department, and the Security Department.

This was also a situation that all parties and forces were willing to see, except for the Federation Law Enforcement Department...

Then.

A Federation truly built upon the foundation of ”freedom” appeared!

A paradise capable of attracting countless Powerful Individuals was born!

And this was also the reason why countless Powerful Individuals from the Star Realm would enter Federation territory...

The Federation’s greatest confidence was not anything else, but the countless unknown Powerful Individuals from the Star Realm who joined the Federation!

These unknown numbers of Powerful Individuals did not want the Federation to fall!

There was no place more suitable for these Powerful Individuals than the Federation!

This force of ”desiring freedom” made all forces in the Star Realm have to acknowledge and fear the Federation!

And it was precisely this power that gave the Federation the confidence to stand in opposition to the Empire!

In reality.

If one only looked at the frontline wars between the Empire and the Federation, the Federation was indeed consistently at a disadvantage...

But the truth of the matter was that, due to the might of that ”God of Gods,” the Empire’s only enemy was the Federation!!

While the Federation’s enemies were not just the Empire, but also the Abyss, various alien races in the Star Realm, and the gods of the Star Realm...

And this bizarre situation, the Federation had persisted with for over 7,000 years!!!

Moreover, the Federation still showed signs of being able to persist...

The seemingly teetering Federation had actually been teetering for a very long time...

This power called ”freedom” was far more tenacious than any existence could imagine.

The Empire and those gods of the Star Realm understood better than any other force that a teetering Federation was the most dangerous.

No one knew what the future outcome of the Federation would be...

This great ship carrying countless humans had been sailing through the waves of the Star Realm for a very long time, sometimes slowly, sometimes turbulently.

In their impression.

Whenever the Federation was about to fall due to external forces, a madman shouting ”freedom” would appear, bringing his formidable power to join the Federation Council!!

Or, when the Federation was about to collapse internally.

A pure idealist shouting ”Long live the Federation, long live freedom!” would appear in the Federation Political Arena!

He would use his ideas and methods to persuade the entire Federation Council, and would also cleverly connect the various forces within the Federation!

Forcibly extending the Federation’s lifespan by another significant wave!

These various resurrection-from-death operations had already left the Empire and the gods of the Star Realm somewhat numb...

And precisely because of these overly outrageous operations mentioned above, even though the Federation had now decayed to such an extent, no other forces dared to openly attack the Federation homeland.

No one knew if their first move would cause the entire Federation to resurrect from death once again...

As is well known, the Federation was a strange behemoth, where some formidable figures always appeared at the most critical moments...

Even the notorious devils and the Fire Thief Cult only dared to quietly establish a ”Digital Currency Bank” within Federation territory, only to be shamefully driven out of Federation territory in the end...

Ultimately, these enemies of the Federation could only attribute it to the broad concept of ”freedom” attracting too many unknown Powerful Individuals and geniuses.

Federal Calendar 7708, December 3rd, morning.

Having traveled through the darkness for several hours, Cook P. Jones and Loren, led by that fierce Groenendael dog, arrived at an abandoned factory located on the outskirts of Jadeite Main City.

This was also the secret gathering point where Cook P. Jones had been hiding for several days.

”We’re here.” Cook P. Jones, standing before the abandoned factory, turned and said softly to Loren.

”This abandoned factory, confirmed through various means by my animal companions, is absolutely safe.”

”Those ubiquitous hyenas of the Security Bureau will definitely not find this place...”

Cook P. Jones’s tone was quite proud.

Standing at the entrance of the abandoned factory building, Loren, after releasing his spiritual perception, frowned slightly and asked in a low voice:

”There are other Superhumans inside?”

Hearing this, Cook P. Jones nodded somewhat awkwardly.

”Well... I didn’t actually think you’d really come to help...”

”After all, we’re just online friends...”

”For insurance, while I was in the Beastkin Star Domain, I recruited some high-rank Superhumans to join my team.”

”Don’t worry, they’re all from the Bounty Hunters Guild.”

”When I picked people, I specifically screened them; they all have bounties from the Security Bureau on their heads, or they’re simply not from the Federation...”
