Rebirth before Apocalypse: My Whole Family are Bigshots!

Chapter 346: Chapter 346: Zhu Yan

The Bai Family suddenly felt like they were being watched by a terrifying animal.

Even though they couldn’t see the beast, they sensed the danger lurking beneath the thick mulberry leaves.

Bai Xiqin’s dark eyes looked at a particularly lush part of the mulberry tree.

At the topmost fork of the mulberry tree, the green leaves slightly fluttered, revealing a fiery red furry claw.

The fiery red color was extraordinarily vivid, like a flamboyant flower blooming among the lush green leaves.

Above the fiery red furry claw was white fur, shining brightly and looking very healthy.

Beneath the furry appearance lay a body full of muscle, with immense power hidden under the fluffy fur.

”Is that a monkey?”

Bai Yifan looked at the exposed claw and swallowed a mouthful of saliva.

This sturdy claw was even thicker than a Mutated Panda’s. If it were a monkey, it would have to be an incredibly fat one.

Just as Bai Yifan finished speaking, the fiery red claw twitched slightly, as if it understood Bai Yifan’s words.

”Roar―”

An angry roar echoed from beneath the mulberry leaves, and the fiery red fur on the claw stood on end, seemingly furious.

Bai Yifan quickly shut his mouth and quietly enveloped himself in a layer of stable yellow.

The fiery red claw moved, pushing the mulberry leaves aside, and the entire body emerged.

The beast continued to roar angrily, a sound that struck the soul and filled everyone with dread.

This was the aura of a beast.

Finally, the Bai Family saw the beast’s true form.

The creature resembled a monkey, with red and white fur covering its body.

The body was covered in white fur, with fiery red fur on the claws.

It was about the size of a gorilla.

Intimidating at first glance.

Its face looked much fiercer than that of a typical monkey.

As if a regular gorilla had been cut several times with a knife and then haphazardly restored by a quack cosmetic surgeon.

However, compared to Taowu, it was still slightly more gentle.

Its dark brown pupils moved flexibly, pausing for a moment on each member of the Bai Family.

Its intelligence far surpassed that of an ordinary monkey.

Bai Xiqin had an illusion; when the monkey made eye contact with her, it felt like looking at a wise human.

”Is this... Zhu Yan?”

Bai Zhengxuan’s throat moved with difficulty, his eyes fixed unblinkingly on the red-and-white-furred monkey before him.

Zhu Yan was, according to legend, a fierce beast, infamous and notorious like Taowu.

”Where a Zhu Yan appears, there will be war.”

Legend has it that where Zhu Yan emerges, disaster ensues.

Elder Bai Zhengxuan, a public educator, was quite learned and, since the apocalypse, had thoroughly studied the Classic of Mountains and Seas, reading each piece and pondering the abilities of each mythical creature.

He discovered that the exotic creatures in the Classic of Mountains and Seas inherently possessed a mysterious energy.

In today’s world, Bai Zhengxuan believed that the energy tide that suddenly appeared on the day of the apocalypse must have caused animals to transform into mythical creatures.

Were the fierce beasts recorded in the Classic of Mountains and Seas truly fierce beasts?

At least, the Qiqu and Gu Diao encountered were real.

They were truly man-eating monsters.

”Perhaps... we should leave!”

Bai Zhengxuan swallowed hard, contemplating a retreat.

In the Classic of Mountains and Seas, Zhu Yan was a fierce beast, its infamous reputation far exceeding that of Qiqu and Gu Diao. Seeing its fierce demeanor, Bai Zhengxuan felt a chill in his heart.

Back in the day, Elder Bai Zhengxuan was a staunch materialist.

Now, Elder Bai Zhengxuan has put materialism under his feet.

He began to respect nature and Mutant Animals.

Though he had not grasped its abilities, Bai Zhengxuan still wished to avoid confronting such a renowned fierce beast recorded in ancient texts.

He felt weakened just by its presence.

”Grandpa, don’t worry.”

Bai Xiqin gently patted Bai Zhengxuan on the shoulder and took a step forward.

Leng Yebai said nothing, closely following Bai Xiqin, eyes warily watching Zhu Yan perched on the branch.

”Roar―”

Zhu Yan roared twice at Bai Xiqin, its fur standing on end, carrying a hint of warning.

Its fiery red claw clutched the trunk of the mulberry tree, ready to attack at any moment.

With its hefty body and sharp teeth, it possessed intense explosiveness.

No one doubted whether its fierce beast reputation was exaggerated.

Seeing Zhu Yan’s wary demeanor, Bai Xiqin immediately stopped in her tracks, standing still without stepping forward.

Bai Xiqin halted, but Zhu Yan maintained an attack stance, leaning back slightly, ready to pounce on Bai Xiqin.

Seeing Zhu Yan’s guarded manner, Bai Xiqin suddenly laughed.

Fierce beast or not, it still looked like a monkey on the outside.

If it’s a monkey, it has weaknesses, and bananas are something it can’t resist.

Besides, Bai Xiqin was skeptical of the fierce beast’s intelligence.

In her space, there were a few. While they upheld the fierce beast name with their fearsome appearance, their intelligence fell short of the little kitty Bai Yifan had put in the space.

Bai Xiqin’s fingers slightly curled, and a large banana flew up, floating leisurely in front of Zhu Yan.

Zhu Yan warily glanced at Bai Xiqin, its dark brown eyes shifting between the banana and Bai Xiqin.

The fur that had been standing on end began to slowly lower.

Turns out, they came to pay tribute.

The fiery red claw cautiously lifted, its sharp claws lightly poking the floating banana.

The sharp claws easily sliced the banana into two, as if cutting through tofu.

The fragrance from the split banana became even more enticing.

The bananas grown in her space were much larger than ordinary ones and emitted an aroma even more alluring to monkeys.

On Zhu Yan’s ferocious face, an almost imperceptible movement occurred, a suspicious shimmer of moisture appeared in its dark brown eyes.

The fierce face glanced at the nearby monkeys.

When Zhu Yan stood up, the monkeys quietly stood aside, clutching several bananas tightly in their arms.

Not a single monkey offered it a banana.

Only this human did.

Zhu Yan humanely squinted its eyes, clutching the floating banana with its chubby paw, holding it to its chest.

Not bad, not bad, this human was not bad.

Zhu Yan silently turned its body, presenting its back to Bai Xiqin and the others, ignoring them.

This was a tacit permission for them to roam nearby.

Bai Xiqin raised her eyebrows slightly; she just seemed to catch a glimpse of grievance, joy... in Zhu Yan’s eyes.

Being the leader of the monkey group is truly challenging.

Monkeys strive to make little ”sons,” mostly concerned with their own meals, barely feeding their sons, let alone the leader.

Bai Xiqin twitched slightly; was being the leader of Mutant Animals so miserable?

She remembered that the Mutated Panda was conquered by the bamboo shoots in her space.

The Mutated Panda raised a group of simpletons that only know how to eat bamboo.

Zhu Yan, in turn, raised a group of simpletons that only know how to eat bananas.

Bai Xiqin thought they could be introduced to each other someday; perhaps they’d become great friends.

Chomp chomp...

In the quiet air, Zhu Yan’s munching sound echoed.

The sound was quite loud.

Just moments ago, Bai Zhengxuan was ready to respect nature and Mutant Animals, but now he felt a tinge of disrespect.

Looking at Zhu Yan’s fluffy back, Bai Zhengxuan rubbed his temples.

Did all fierce beasts in the Classic of Mountains and Seas have intelligence issues? Were they all adorably dumb and ugly-cute?

He seriously suspected that Taowu and Zhu Yan became notorious fierce beasts because the Classic of Mountains and Seas’ author intentionally wrote them so.

A scheme to protect their adorably dumb and ugly-cute natures!
