Rebirth before Apocalypse: My Whole Family are Bigshots!

Chapter 60: Chapter 60: The Dutiful Son

”Go to D City, there’s the Fire Phoenix Safety Base!”

Uncle Liu cautiously pulled a miniature radio from his pocket.

Uncle Liu couldn’t drive, so he could only wait for Uncle Wang in M City, knowing Uncle Wang would come, so he waited.

Now everyone’s here, going to the safety base is better.

”Hoo...”

What responded to him was a snoring sound. Uncle Liu turned his head to look.

Uncle Wang was already asleep at the wheel...

Uncle Liu silently rolled his eyes, put away the radio, crossed his arms, and fell asleep in the passenger seat in seconds.

The sky is almost bright.

A motorbike sped past on the road.

Behind the motorbike, a dozen zombies followed quickly.

These zombies were fast enough to keep up with the speeding motorcycle.

The motorcycle was heading toward S City, overrun by zombies.

———

Morning.

The Bai Family was discussing today’s route over breakfast.

”Sis, there’s a big supermarket ahead. Should we go?” Bai Yifan pointed to a star on the map.

This marks a place with lots of supplies.

The supermarket had the most zombies, and in reasonable living conditions, few would clear out zombies for supplies.

The Bai Family didn’t worry much about clearing zombies, as they could handle them.

”We have enough supplies. In D City, we won’t focus on gathering supplies,” Bai Xiqin said seriously, ”This time we’re mainly familiarizing ourselves with D City, then heading to the Fire Phoenix Safety Base.”

”Oh,” Bai Yifan felt a little regretful.

He felt there was too little milk powder in the space!

”Alright, after breakfast, let’s drive around the city first.”

Bai Anhai calmly took the poached egg from Bai Yifan’s bowl into his own.

Bai Yifan looked at his dad resentfully, stood up, and quickly cracked an egg.

Sizzling—

The fragrant smell of fried eggs wafted around.

”So far, only Zhao Mimi seems suspicious. Be careful with others too, never act alone!” Bai Xiqin emphasized again.

After speaking, Bai Xiqin brought her bowl behind Bai Yifan, taking the egg he just fried into her bowl.

Mmm~ crispy outside, tender inside, delicious!

Bai Yifan: ...

Sizzling—

Helplessly, Bai Yifan cracked another egg.

”Don’t worry, our family will be fine,” Wang Yiyun confidently flipped her hair, ”When we find that damned research institute, we’ll blow it up!”

”We must blow it!”

Liu Jing stood next to Bai Yifan, holding chopsticks, looking determined.

Bai Yifan looked at his grandmother and silently stepped back.

Liu Jing smiled warmly, decisively taking the egg Bai Yifan just fried.

”Xiao Niu, should I go check the Fire Phoenix Safety Base in advance?” Leng Yebai came up behind Bai Yifan, holding a bowl.

”No need to go early, let’s go together,” Bai Xiqin waved her hand, ”Besides, the research institute might not be built yet! Going early could alert them.”

”Alright then!”

Leng Yebai nodded, naturally taking the freshly fried and golden egg from Bai Yifan’s pan.

”Is everyone finished eating? Let’s go! Xiao Fan, drive!”

Bai Anhai wiped his mouth bold and ambitious.

In his daughter’s dream, he was the first to get bitten.

In real life, he wanted to be the greatest father, protecting his family.

”Wait, I’m frying an egg!” Bai Yifan meekly picked up an egg.

”Why do you keep eating eggs? It’s been an hour and you’re not done?” Bai Anhai gave Bai Yifan an eye-roll.

Son less useful than a BBQ bun.

Bai Yifan: ...

He doubted his dad’s vision had issues and even had evidence.

He’s been frying eggs so long, but had he eaten any?

”Quick, quick, quick, drive!” Bai Anhai glared at Bai Yifan.

Feeling his son looked at him with ’you’re crazy’ eyes.

Itchy hands, wanted to hit someone!

Bai Yifan glanced at his stern father with purple lightning at his fingertips, silently put down the egg, and went to the driver’s seat to prepare to drive.

Don’t be angry, don’t be angry.

Angry and can’t beat him, can’t beat him.

Forty years later, he plans to eat a lot of eggs by his dad’s bedside.

”Hehe...”

Bai Yifan fantasized, laughing aloud.

Bai Anhai tugged Leng Yebai’s sleeve, whispered, ”Do you know why your aunt and I worked so hard when young?”

With a foolish son, old age would be troublesome.

Leng Yebai deeply agreed, quickly glancing at Bai Xiqin then looked away.

Their future children, surely clever!

Not having this problem.

”Drink some water!”

Bai Xiqin put a cup next to Bai Yifan’s hand.

Bai Yifan took it, the rich milk powder aroma was in his nose.

Looking down, his sister had made him milk powder.

The most expensive kind, he recognized it.

Moved...

Bai Yifan silently drank the milk powder, fantasizing again.

Forty years later, he and his sister eat eggs by their dad’s bedside...

(Old Father Bai: Smells wonderful, what are you eating?

Bai Yifan & Bai Xiqin: Fried egg.

Old Father Bai: Can I taste some?

Bai Yifan & Bai Xiqin: Nope, too much for old people speeds up dying!)

Cough cough, regardless of reality.

Just imagining, the filial son Bai Yifan felt amused!

Awesome!

The bus started slowly, aimlessly wandering D City’s streets.

Occasionally seeing some people in black jackets walking on the street.

Those were Fire Phoenix Safety Base members, collecting supplies and survivors.

The base just started, urgently absorbing many survivors to expand.

Bai Xiqin leaned by the window, vaguely recognizing a few familiar faces.

Familiar streets, some familiar people, sparked Bai Xiqin’s memories.

Days at the Fire Phoenix Safety Base were fairly stable, lucky in missions, never encountering zombies above Third Rank.

Meals were barely enough, in the apocalypse, such days were not bad.

If choosing again, Bai Xiqin would still go to this base, but first, expose the mysterious organization behind Zhao Mimi.

”Sis, is that Zhao Mimi?”

Bai Yifan squinted, seeing a graceful woman from afar.

Foot irresistibly placed on the gas pedal, ready to press down.

”It’s her.” Bai Xiqin’s eyes slightly glimmered.

Seeing Zhao Mimi from afar, holding a man’s arm, the man looked gentle and scholarly.

This man was one of the Fire Phoenix Safety Base’s founders.

Not expecting, in a few days, Zhao Mimi rose up!

”Oh, it really is her! Thought I was mistaken!”

Bai Yifan calmly nodded, floored the gas pedal, charging straight at Zhao Mimi.

”A bit to the left, you won’t hit her like this!” Wang Yiyun quickly instructed.

”Don’t go too far left, careful not to kill anyone!” Liu Jing hurriedly shouted, ”Need her alive!”

”Ah!”

Zhao Mimi’s scream rang out.
