Rebirth before Apocalypse: My Whole Family are Bigshots!

Chapter 56: Chapter 56: Fan Family Couple

In front is a black luxury car, and the emblem on this luxury car looks very similar to the one Leng Yebai had already scrapped.

It seems like the driver is a wealthy person.

In the apocalypse, the wealthy do not live as comfortably as superpower users.

Money is mere waste paper; survival is the only capital that one can flaunt.

On top of the black luxury car, two clawing zombies are pounding on the windows, as if they could shatter them at any moment.

Bai Xiqin glanced at the car ahead, yawned, and slumped back on the sofa.

”Drive faster, I’ll make a move in a moment!”

In a lazy manner, Bai Xiqin opened the window beside her.

The distance is too far now, the steel needle cannot reach.

”Alright!”

Bai Yifan floored the gas pedal and drove straight towards the black luxury car.

”Bang!”

Before Bai Xiqin could make a move, the bus had already crashed into the black luxury car.

Needless to say, the two zombies on the roof were thrown off!

Even the black car flipped!

Bai Yifan: ...

He already mentioned, he doesn’t have a driver’s license!

Still a minor! Just a kid!

If there’s anyone to blame, it’s the bunch of adults on board!

The bus stopped beside the black luxury car, and all the Bai Family members got off the bus.

”Roar――”

The two zombies thrown off the car weren’t dead; they had only broken a few bones and were still struggling fiercely, lunging towards everyone.

Whiz ――

A frost-covered steel needle pierced one zombie’s temple, then flew out in the air through the other zombie’s temple.

The frost on the surface of the steel needle melted away, mixed with black blood that dripped onto the ground, and the steel needle flew straight back to the small box hanging on Bai Xiqin’s waist.

”Quick, save them!”

Bai Zhengxuan shouted loudly, striding to the luxury car, he laboriously opened the car door and dragged out a middle-aged man.

Wang Yiyun and Liu Jing pulled a middle-aged woman from the passenger seat.

”... Thank you for helping us!”

The middle-aged man looked at the massive bus and the dead zombies, and it took him a while to say this.

”No need to thank us. As members of the Red Scarf, this is what we should do,” Bai Yifan said with a calm expression.

Middle-aged man: ...

Are Red Scarf members all this reckless now?

Bai Yifan came to the two, observed carefully, and confirmed that they weren’t seriously injured, only some scratches on their faces, and sighed in relief.

He almost got involved in a manslaughter case!

”Sorry! My grandson doesn’t have a driver’s license, and he’s not that skilled at driving!” Bai Zhengxuan scratched his head, looking slightly uneasy.

Bai Yifan’s behavior, before the apocalypse, would have landed him in juvenile detention!

The middle-aged man, twitching at the corner of his mouth, glanced at Bai Yifan. ”Still, I must thank you all for the rescue!”

”Where were you going?” Bai Zhengxuan glanced at the scrapped car, scratched his head, and said, ”How about you come with us for now, we can give you a ride into the city ahead, and we’ll compensate you with a car!”

Bai Yifan looked at Bai Zhengxuan with a puzzled expression.

How to compensate?

Our family doesn’t stockpile cars!

”No need for compensation, no need,” the middle-aged man quickly waved his hand, ”You saved us; how could we take more from you?”

”It’s no trouble. Just keep your eyes on the road, see any car you like, and we’ll find a way to get it for you!” Bai Zhengxuan said heartily.

Since the apocalypse, there are plenty of unattended cars on the roadside!

Middle-aged man: ”...that works!”

With the car scrapped, it’s impossible to walk in the wilderness. It’s too dangerous.

If we encounter mutant animals or zombies, it’s over.

”Then sorry for the trouble!”

The middle-aged woman smiled warmly at everyone.

”It’s only right, only right!”

Bai Anhai scratched his head, helping the couple move their belongings from the scrapped car onto the bus.

Once the couple boarded the bus, they were dumbfounded!

The plain-looking bus was decorated exquisitely inside.

Small as it is, it’s well-equipped.

In the apocalypse, they’re escaping for their lives, but this family seems like they’re on vacation!

The couple sat awkwardly on the sofa.

Just by looking at their calmness facing zombies, you could tell this family were all big shots.

After arranging the couple’s belongings, Bai Yifan returned to the driver’s seat and drove the bus forward.

”Hello, my name is Bai Anhai.” Bai Anhaito politely poured two glasses of water for the couple, then pointed at Bai Zhengxuan, saying, ”This is my father, and I’m the father of that boy who drove.”

”Hello, my name is Fan Liping, and this is my wife, Hu Meiling,” the middle-aged man said warmly.

The middle-aged man carried the aura of a long-time boss, speaking with great courtesy.

Hu Meiling looked around the bus, her eyes suddenly tearing up.

Inside the bus, you could see at a glance that this family was having a harmonious time.

This kind of family harmony was something she couldn’t even begin to imagine.

”Sister, what’s wrong?”

Wang Yiyun quickly handed a tissue to Hu Meiling.

Hu Meiling gave a apologetic smile to Wang Yiyun, dabbing her eyes with the tissue.

”It’s nothing. I just envy you all being together as a family.” As Hu Meiling thought about her own family, she couldn’t hold back her tears.

”Meiling, look forward,” Fan Liping thought of his own family as well, his eyes reddened slightly, but he still gently patted Hu Meiling’s back, comforting her, ”We need to live well, look forward, don’t think...”

Hu Meiling pressed her fingers over her heart, gently shaking her head.

How can she really look forward?

She and Fan Liping had a love story that went from school to wedding gown.

Starting from nothing, they founded a light steel villa manufacturing plant, only to have their son at thirty-five.

The family was well-off, the son smart and lovely, and the whole family was full of joy.

It was a happy and perfect family.

But her six-year-old son was diagnosed with brain cancer.

By the time they found out, it was already too late.

The heart-wrenching pain of losing a child was unbearable.

Unwilling to have him buried alone in a cemetery, they spent a hefty sum, greased some palms, and planted a fake urn.

In reality, their son was buried in their own backyard.

Perhaps to others, their actions were insane.

But this was the only son they managed to have at thirty-five, and now in their forties, how could they bear the pain of losing a child!

Shortly after their son’s death, the apocalypse erupted.

Workers who hadn’t returned home during the Spring Festival went crazy, biting anyone in sight.

She watched her father-in-law get bitten, then watched helplessly as he, now monstrous, lunged at them.

They thought it would be good to die together as a family, but for some reason, her crazed father-in-law suddenly paused.

Taking advantage of that moment, Fan Liping dragged her away.

They hid, dodging and surviving up to now.

”Sister, don’t think about the troubles of the past, what’s done is done!” Wang Yiyun gently patted Hu Meiling’s hand, saying, ”Let’s listen to the radio!”

Then, Wang Yiyun turned on the radio.

The faint signal from the radio is the hope for all survivors.

Hu Meiling forced a smile, silently sitting there, listening to the radio.

The radio played a host’s clear and articulate voice.

In a trance, it was like being transported back to before the apocalypse.
