Time Travel: The Best Doctor in Ancient Times

Chapter 668: Chapter 510 Please Be Sure to Go to the Southern Border_2

Not targeting her, then it must be directed at the three people beside her!

Tsk tsk... Upon arriving in Bashu, she actually enjoys privileges even greater than those of an evildoer!

The feeling of being treated differently isn’t too bad!

Gu Changsheng’s mood improved slightly. He took a few steps forward to support Granny Wu Shan and started eagerly, ”Granny, who exactly is the Lord of Bashu? Can my journey through your land proceed or not?”

”Old body does not know!” Granny Wu Shan responded quickly and with absolute certainty.

”Ah?” Gu Changsheng choked on his words in disbelief and pressed, ”Aren’t you a Household Servant of the Bashu Witch Master? How could you not know who your master is?”

This answer was too perfunctory, too unreliable!

”Old body has lived at the Bridgehead of the Heavenly Road for twenty-two years, never leaving even half a step. Whomever the Witch Lord has now become, what does it have to do with old body!” Granny Wu Shan huffed with a face full of pride.

At her words, the corners of Gu Changsheng’s mouth twitched fiercely.

Damn, this servant seemed far too negligent!

If she had such subordinates, she’d have been infuriated to the point of fainting!

”Granny, then can the matter of me traveling through Bashu be settled? You know my mother, after all; couldn’t you at least give me some information?” Gu Changsheng took another step forward and continued apprehensively.

Granny Wu Shan was so capricious that Gu Changsheng felt entirely at a loss!

”Don’t know! In the mountains, time is lost; who the current Witch Lord is, old body does not know, so how can old body know her temperament? Whether she would agree to your passage again?” Granny Wu Shan replied without turning her head.

Gu Changsheng, upon hearing this, fell silent.

Damn, this was practically an ’I know nothing’ situation!

The feeling of defeat was genuinely unpleasant. Gu Changsheng, ever more resilient through each setback, decided to ask about something she might know, ”Granny, though you don’t know about the Witch Lord, you ought to know well about my mother’s affairs, right?”

”Queen Mother!” At the mention of this, Granny Wu Shan turned her head back abruptly, her face stern and slightly warning.

Queen Mother?

That again!

”Don’t use common references to desecrate her!” Seeing Gu Changsheng with an embarrassed face, Granny Wu Shan warned once more.

Referring to her as ’mother’ was considered desecration? Gu Changsheng was hearing such logic for the first time.

Just like it was a sin to bear a son, Gu Changsheng suddenly felt that, damn, Bashu and the Southern Border had some really big, and bizarre, rules!

”Granny, was my mo... Queen Mother once a queen of the Southern Border?” Gu Changsheng craned his neck and ventured another question.

Damn, please just say no!

Coming from a former Imperial Family of the Southern Border was already more than she could accept; if she was indeed a queen, she’d truly need to find a place to cry for a while!

”In Bashu and Southern Border, women are held in the highest esteem. From ancient times to the present day, only one person has been the exception!” Granny Wu Shan proclaimed solemnly while walking ahead.

Upon hearing these words, Gu Changsheng suddenly understood, alright, this response, although not exactly an answer, the fact that women are revered, explained everything!

Her biological mother was not only from the former Imperial Family of the Southern Border but was also of the utmost nobility!

Staring blankly at the tunnel ceiling, maybe this was the real reason she was entangled in affairs of the Southern Border.

”Who is that exception?” Gu Changsheng inquired further.

Granny Wu Shan turned back at the question, giving Gu Changsheng a deep look before continuing to move forward.

Gu Changsheng watched her hunched figure shuffle forward, touched his nose sheepishly, and helplessly followed suit, supporting Granny Wu Shan’s arm to assist her. After all, it was the evildoer who had injured her!

This tunnel wound its way endlessly, its end out of sight. As they walked, the sound of their footsteps echoed through the tunnel. Gu Changsheng did not know how deep into the mountain they had walked; she could only roughly estimate the time. Everyone knows how difficult Sichuan Road is, but who would have thought Sichuan Road also had its own secret pathways...

Within the mountains, time was lost; well, in this tunnel, time was even more elusive, without even a glimpse of day or night.

Estimating that it was nearing evening, several forks appeared in the tunnel, and Granny Wu Shan paused to reflect before choosing one and leading the group onward.

Seeing this, Gu Changsheng raised an eyebrow but remained silent.

Presumably, these forks led to different places, but since Granny Wu Shan would not say, they would not ask!

After all, they had been allowed into this tunnel, and for Granny Wu Shan to keep secrets now seemed a bit like trying to hide one’s head but not one’s backside.

After walking for roughly another two quarters of an hour, the group finally climbed out from a dry well in a small courtyard!

”Find an inn to settle down for now. I will send a message to the Cloud Palace. If the Witch Lord wishes to see you, she will summon you!” Granny Wu Shan glanced at them and walked away.

Gu Changsheng hurriedly followed and asked anxiously, ”Granny, are you leaving us just like that?”

Waiting was not an issue for Gu Changsheng; after all, the people she had arranged would not be arriving at Jinchuan City so quickly without the secret passages.

But if Granny Wu Shan was to leave, to whom would she turn with all her unanswered questions?

”Old body... Old body is going to the Southern Border! Old body is leaving for the Southern Border immediately!” Pushing away Gu Changsheng’s arm, Granny Wu Shan staggered forward. In her haste, she almost fell.

”Granny!” Seeing this, Gu Changsheng quickly stepped forward to help her. Noticing her pale face, he reluctantly took out a small Porcelain Vial from his chest, poured out a medicinal pill, and placed it into her mouth, ”Thank you for bringing us in and telling us where the secret passage is. I don’t know why you insist on going to the Southern Border, perhaps someone there is on your mind. This medicine will help you recover quickly; you should go...”

Granny Wu Shan felt warmth surge in her chest, and her internal injuries from earlier in the day began to heal significantly. She immediately climbed up from the ground, leaned on her Skull Head cane, and walked out. Just before she reached the courtyard gate, she turned back to look earnestly at Gu Changsheng and said with a grave voice, ”You, no matter what, you must go to the Southern Border! You must go!”
