Chapter 451: Chapter 310 Absolutely No Meeting with Outsiders

Upon hearing the words, Qiu Yue immediately stood flabbergasted…

She had been speaking off the cuff; never had she imagined that Chief Steward Yan would actually make the heir’s wife dismount the carriage!

“Chief… Chief Steward Yan, are you jesting?” Qiu Yue asked incredulously, her eyes wide with disbelief.

Her family’s heir’s wife, pampered and cherished, how could she possibly walk in public during grand celebrations?

What was this supposed to look like? Instinctively, Qiu Yue thought that Housekeeper Yan was joking!

“Who’s joking with you!” Chief Steward Yan scolded with a gloomy face and pointed ahead, “Look there, what is that!”

With a puzzled and unsettled look, Qiu Yue followed the direction of Housekeeper Yan’s pointing finger…

Yan Qinrui’s delicate eyebrows furrowed slightly as she looked in that direction too…

“Suan… The Suan Ni Beast Stone Weight! Princely Heir’s wife, it’s the Suan Ni Beast Stone Weight! Right there in front of the gate, standing the Suan Ni Beast Stone Weight!” Qiu Yue turned around with a panic-stricken face to look at her own princely heir’s wife, her eyes conspicuously filled with shock.

“I see it…” Yan Qinrui’s voice carried a hint of hoarseness as she looked down, hiding the astonishment in her eyes.

The Suan Ni Beast Stone Weight!

The Suan Ni Beast Stone Weight reserved for royalty!

In front of Gu Changsheng’s Medical hall stood two majestic Suan Ni Beast Stone Weights!

According to the Court’s traditions, the Suan Ni Beast Stone Weights reserved for royalty was akin to a Dismounting Tablet. Throughout the realm, only His Highness Prince Bao was entitled to use them; however, since he, aged over twenty, had yet to depart the Imperial Palace to establish his own mansion, Qinrui had never seen the actual Suan Ni Beast Stone Weights, even in the Capital City, a gathering place for the Emperor and his high officials!

The Suan Ni Beast Stone Weights that required military officers to dismount and civil officials to step out of their sedans!

“Princely Heir’s wife, Gu Changsheng is nothing more than a doctor, how can he have the Suan Ni Beast Stone Weight at his doorstep? According to the Court’s rules, beneath the heavens, only Prince Bao’s residence is entitled to display the Suan Ni Beast Stone Weights!” Qiu Yue, following beside Yan Qinrui, was not unlearned. Aware of the many nuances among the nobility, she thus asked, full of confusion.

Yan Qinrui’s eyes narrowed dangerously into slits, her face expressionless as she spoke, “In Liuzhou City, there is one man who can display these Suan Ni Beast Stone Weights! That man is His Highness Prince Mu!”

“I’ve heard from my father that when His Highness Prince Mu quelled the turmoil at the Southern Border, his military accomplishments were numerous, with nothing left to be awarded. His Majesty himself decreed, placing him above thousands, bestowing upon him the title of Prince!”

“The world has grown accustomed to addressing him by his Commandery Prince title, but in truth, he is the genuine Prince Mu of Great Zhou, without a doubt!”

Upon hearing this, Qiu Yue’s eyes widened in shock, her face incredulous as she pointed towards the Suan Ni Beast Stone Weights, “But… but why would the Suan Ni Beast Stone Weights be erected at the entrance of Gu Changsheng’s residence, this…”

Yan Qinrui, her face turning frosty, cut off Qiu Yue’s unsaid words, “Do not babble nonsense nor make wild guesses. Since we have already arrived in Liuzhou City, sooner or later we will know the full story. Bring me my parasol hat, and help me down from the carriage!”

Upon hearing her words, Qiu Yue immediately complied.

Yan Qinrui alighted from the carriage a hundred meters away from Longevity Medical Hall, walking towards the entrance flanked by dozens of servants.

Inside the Gu Residence, completely unaware of the situation outside, Gu Changsheng was busy removing the drainage tube for Tan Nv, assisted by Hu Yihai and Elder Xu.

The three of them were preoccupied with the surgery in the Medicine Tower; the group of doctors outside were brewing medicine and preparing surgical supplies, with clear division of labor and seamless cooperation.

Yan Qinrui glanced at the firmly shut eight-panel gates and slightly lifted her hand, signaling Housekeeper Yan to knock on the door.

Housekeeper Yan understood and stepped forward to rap the Fuxi Copper Ring on the door a few times.

“Bang, bang, bang!”

“Bang, bang, bang!”

After knocking persistently for some time, there was still no response from inside.

Housekeeper Yan’s already unpleasant expression grew darker and more grim.

In broad daylight, which business didn’t keep its doors wide open? Yet this Longevity Medical Hall was the opposite; its main entrance firmly shut and without response even when they knocked! Was this any way to run a business?

“Stop knocking. It seems there has been some trouble in the Gu Residence. Now, all the doctors in Liuzhou City are barely going home, mostly staying inside the Gu Residence,” a kind neighbor said from a distance, raising his voice to inform them.

“Trouble?” Housekeeper Yan was taken aback upon hearing this.

Beneath her parasol hat, impatience was beginning to show on Yan Qinrui’s face. She, who had been the legitimate daughter of the Ministry of War before she was wed, and now the princely heir’s wife, had never been treated like this. It had been frustrating enough to walk on foot, but to knock and receive no response, to wait painstakingly in public?

This was preposterous!

“Keep knocking!” Yan Qinrui spoke in a low voice.

Having come from afar, she could not simply return home without even seeing anyone. How would she explain it to her husband? How could she justify it to herself?

After receiving the order, Housekeeper Yan turned and continued to knock on the door, applying even more force than before.

This time, they didn’t have to wait long. After a while, one of the doors opened from the inside, and two young boys stood by the door, curiously looking at them.

“Our Medical hall is not receiving patients today!” Song Mu was the first to speak up.

“It’s not that we’re not receiving patients today, it’s that we haven’t been receiving any for these past few days!” Song Lin looked at the large group of people dressed in splendid garments outside and quickly added another sentence.

Upon hearing this, Housekeeper Yan frowned and spoke with considerable authority, “We are not here for medical consultation, we are here to see Lady Changsheng for a matter!”

Upon hearing this, Song Mu scratched his head in confusion and looked at his brother, “Is there a difference between seeking a consultation and seeing our lady?”

There isn’t, right, either way, they’re both about wanting to see his lady!

Plus, the tone of this person speaking was so arrogant; he didn’t even say please, he just directly stated he wanted to see his lady!

Was his lady someone just anyone could see whenever they wanted? It was simply preposterous!

Song Mu couldn’t help but curl his lips and shake his head.

“The residence is dealing with matters, we will not receive any outside visitors, whether you are here for a consultation or to see my lady, I’m afraid you’re both making a wasted trip!” Song Lin faced the impressive crowd without a hint of fear, responding calmly.

Having followed Uncle Song for a long time, they had also experienced the grand sight of Gu Residence’s founding, which broadened their horizons; they were no longer orphans begging on the streets!

“What do you mean by that? What do you mean by not receiving any outsiders?” Qiu Yue, upon hearing this, immediately stepped forward past Housekeeper Yan, speaking confrontationally, “We have traveled thousands of miles to see you, and you’re just going to send us off with a single refusal? In your dreams! Today, you will see us whether you want to or not! Now open those doors wide and welcome our master in!”

Qiu Yue’s stance was quite aggressive, and her yell startled Song Mu.

“Oh my, you really scared me, I’m so scared!” No one dared to speak rashly in front of Gu Residence; Song Mu’s expression turned hostile at once, and he feigned fear, leaning against the doorpost and pointing upwards, “If our estate was open for guests, you might have been able to come in, but since our estate is not receiving outsiders, let anyone who dares to intrude try it!”

“Acting tough in front of Gu Residence’s door, do you really think we’re afraid of you? Open your dog eyes and see clearly, here is Prince Mu’s royal decree, who dares to make a move, shoot on sight!”

The situation in their residence now could not allow for any intrusion by others!

His lady was performing the second surgery on Lord Tan Nv, she surely could not be disturbed, and if outsiders interfered, what would become of it?

Song Mu and Song Lin exchanged a look, their eyes filled with determination.

No matter what, they could not let this crowd disturb the back courtyard!

When Housekeeper Yan heard this, he became so angry that his old face turned red. He looked up at the genuinely golden royal decree and suddenly felt stifled, pointing a trembling finger at Song Mu and Song Lin, “You insolent brats, shoot on sight? I’d like to see who dares to shoot!”

“We came all this way to see you, and you treat us with such disregard and disrespect, is this how Gu Residence attends to its guests? As expected from someone of lowly origins, they can’t make it to the big stage!”

Housekeeper Yan spoke with fury, and indeed, this sparked a bout of whispering among the onlookers.

“Godfather, what an attitude, calling the Medicine God Lady Changsheng’s residence lowly? How laughable…”

“Truly don’t know where this Buddha came from, look at how high and mighty they are!”

“Calling the Medicine God’s residence lowly, can you find even one prominent residence for us to see in Liuzhou City?”

“Exactly, show us one prominent residence, even Prince Mu’s Mansion doesn’t necessarily compare to the splendor of Gu Residence in Liuzhou City!”

“What do you mean ‘doesn’t necessarily’? It simply doesn’t, remember when Lady Changsheng’s residence was being built until the celebration of its opening, nearly all the treasures from Prince Mu’s Mansion were sent here, right?”

“…”

The undisguised sniggers around made Housekeeper Yan’s face turn a multitude of colors all at once.

In truth, he knew he had misspoken the moment the words left his lips. Based on his knowledge of Gu Changsheng, rumors said she was nothing but a humble woman who emerged from a lowly medical hall. But now, it was obvious that the circumstances were different!

Such a splendid and grand entrance, even in the Capital City, was a rarity!

To call this a small and lowly residence really was a bit conscience-stricken!

“Hey, don’t lower yourself disrespecting your elders, we’re from a lowly background, we can’t make it to the big stage, so well, be on your way, don’t let me keep you! Go find that grand and high-profile person you were talking about!” Song Mu gestured a sending-off sign with his hand, his face sporting a mischievous smile.

“You!” Housekeeper Yan, upon hearing this, was so enraged that he was at a loss for words.

“Me? What about me?” Song Mu asked with a somewhat rascally temperament.

“Hmph!” Housekeeper Yan huffed, turned his sleeve, and averted his gaze, hiding a hint of murderous intent in his eyes.

If it had not been in broad daylight, if it were not for the king’s decree hanging overhead, he would have definitely slain this disrespectful ruffian on the spot!

Seeing Housekeeper Yan rendered speechless, Qinrui stepped forward, stopping Chun Hua and Qiu Yue who were about to step up again, and rebuked softly, “Step back! Do not be so rude!”

Upon hearing this, Chun Hua and Qiu Yue looked at each other and stepped back, bowing their heads.

It was then that Qinrui took a step forward, slightly curtsying, “Apologies for startling you, young sirs, it is my fault for not managing the servants properly, causing them to be so rude; I hope you won’t hold it against us!”

Her knowledgeable and rational soft spoken words took both Song Mu and Song Lin aback.

Changsheng’s Mother had told them, respect others and they will respect you.

Since she had put it that way, they naturally couldn’t make things difficult for them any longer…
