Magus: Rise of the Darkness Empress

At that time, Weiss was only 10 years old. Unlike many of his compatriots, the count himself did not have any weird inclination toward such a young child. But still, he did want to get this lady under his house.

Just like elegant dresses and expensive artworks, the beauty of the ladies of a noble house was also an indication of how powerful and cultured a noble family was.

Count Falgur was sure that in less than a decade, this little lady would become one of if not the most beautiful female of this nation and even the world.

So by getting her as a member of his family, the count would gain a lot of prestige in the eyes of other nobles.

Not only that but in future, the count could even use this beautiful lady as a noble prostitute to gain favours from other lords. There were even several dukes who would give him various favours for being able to have a sexual relationship with such a beautiful lady.

That was why Count Falgur had told his youngest son to become friends with the heir of the Souran family and to get this little lady’s hand in marriage.

And according to the last report that he had remembered, this plan should already be a success and the little lady should be here in his mansion.

But the count had not seen her anywhere in the house. Few of his wives and concubines were of jealous type, so with how beautiful this little lady was, he started worrying if they had done something to harm her.

The count did not really care about the mental health of this young girl. He needed her just as a beautiful puppet and nothing else. As long as she was capable of charming men with her looks, he did not care about anything else.

But if those wives of his had actually done something to effect the beautiful look of this girl, then that would be an extremely unpleasant situation. This lady could become an important card for him, so he was a bit worried about this matter.

So he immediately called out -

”Rex.”

Rex Lapis was the count’s head butler and was in charge of managing almost all the household matters. He was also in charge of going through all the reports submitted and only the most important ones were sent to Count Falgur.

This showed that Rex was immensely trusted by the count and he was also very good at his job. So whenever the count needed to learn something, he was the one he always called out to.

Hearing the call, Rex came before the count and bowed his head. Count Falgur nodded seeing this and while continuing to drink the awesome alcohol, he asked him about the matter.

”Rex, I believe the little lady from the Souran family should already be here. Where is she staying ? Make sure that no one inflict any physical harm on her by any means.”

Hearing this question, Rex immediately took out a letter and handed it to the count. He took the letter a bit disinterestedly but as soon as he started reading it, he almost spat out the super rare and expensive drink from his mouth.

The content of the letter was just that unbelievable to the count. According to it, a few days ago the previous baron had suddenly passed away after a powerful monster beast had attacked his castle.

Not just the baron but his son and wife had also died during this incident. Almost the whole family had became food for that beast.

That way, currently the Souran family was being run by the only living member, little lady Weiss Souran. She was also the person that the count was thinking about just now.

This was a very unnatural situation. That baron Souran was definitely very weak and had managed to become an official knight just barely with the help of various external items. And the region where his castle was definitely a very dangerous place.

So it was quite possible for him to suddenly die in the hands of a monster beast. But still, with the timing of his death, the count felt that something was very suspicious here.

The little lady, who was now the new baroness of the Souran territory had written this letter explaining this unfortunate situation and had apologised for not being able to fulfill the promise of becoming a concubine for the Falgur family.

She had even sent some compensation to show her sincerity, which was according to the customs of this nation.

And as the offical seal of the Souran family was used in the letter, the chance of it being a fake was very low.

As the count was thinking this, from his side, Rex spoke up again -

”This letter was delivered by the same person who works for the royal family as a courier. It looks like the new baroness had the approval of the crown.”

After hearing this, the count did not say anything and just nodded his head. It looked like the target that he was trying to catch had silently managed to slip away from his palm.

Even though the count had not really put in a lot of effort behind this plan of his, he was still a bit dissatisfied with the results. The sudden death of the previous baron was also very suspicious to him.

But what made the count most upset was the thought of someone else getting their hands on the beautiful flower that he had found first.

With how beautiful that young lady was, she did not have a line for suiters asking for her hand only because no one knew about her existence at the current moment.

But as she was now a baroness and a proper lord of a territory, she would most probably start visiting various social events meant for the nobles.

That way, she would definitely come in contact with other high ranking nobles who would also desire her just like him.

That was something that the Count did not want to happen. Even though almost no one would know about his failure of not getting this lady, it would still be a black mark in his heart.

For this reason, the count still wasn’t willing to give up. Even if he could not make her a part of his family, then he could try to make the new baroness Souran a direct subordinate under him.

The effect of this would not be as good as her becoming his son’s concubine but it was still an acceptable outcome. But if this kind proposal was also rejected, then the count could only make sure that if he could not get his hands on her then no one else could.

With this in mind, the count asked his loyal butler Rex to contact a secret organisation called the ”Night Crow”.
