Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 1231: Chapter 810: Outer Sect Disciple Yang Qinting (Part 2)

For an outer sect disciple like him, the last person he should offend is the deacon of the Hundred Crafts Hall, as the deacon can assign them arduous and thankless jobs, leaving them unable to focus on cultivation.

Yang Qinting’s task of tending to the medicinal field was actually quite easy. He only needed to tend to two acres of medicinal field, visit twice a day, each time taking less than an hour, and periodically water, weed, and catch pests.

But if he were assigned to some other task, he would not be as relaxed as he was now.

Lian Shengyu, with a kind smile, said, ”Hehe, I heard Junior Nephew Yang is of pure character, diligent, and eager to learn. Just in time, there are a few tasks at the Hundred Crafts Hall that need talents like Junior Nephew Yang!”

Upon hearing this, Yang Qinting felt a jolt in his heart, dreading that his fears had come true—this Deacon Lian really intended to reassign him a new task.

Where exactly did he offend this Deacon Lian?

Yang Qinting was puzzled, but there was no sign of it on his face, and he remained very obedient.

”May I ask what the task is?”

Lian Shengyu replied, ”The Artifact Refining Workshop needs a few diligent disciples to help out. I think Junior Nephew Yang is suitable, so I’ve taken the liberty to assign you this task!”

As he spoke, he handed a token to Yang Qinting.

Yang Qinting’s eyebrows furrowed slightly, but he still took the token.

The Artifact Refining Workshop is not a favorable place, although one can learn artifact refining techniques there, most of the work an outer sect disciple would do is labor-intensive and exhausting.

The toughest job among them is forging refined iron, which not only consumes a lot of time but is also extremely laborious.

This Deacon Lian clearly had bad intentions, but Yang Qinting, being just an outer sect disciple, was not in a position to argue with a deacon.

He hesitated for a moment, but ultimately accepted it.

”This disciple obeys the sect’s orders!”

”Hehe, Junior Nephew Yang, you are quite impressive!” Lian Shengyu smiled and patted Yang Qinting on the shoulder before slowly walking away with his hands behind his back.

Yang Qinting watched his back, frowning deeply.

Why was this person targeting him?

Ever since he joined the Xuanqing Sect, he had always been cautious and careful, focusing solely on cultivation and his assigned duties, never getting into conflicts with others.

At this moment, Yang Qinting had no idea that he was being implicated by his own great-grandfather.

The Xuanqing Sect’s rules are strict, even the Lian family can’t act recklessly within the sect, but it’s easy for the Lian family to make things difficult for someone like Yang Qinting, an outer sect disciple.

The Hundred Crafts Hall changing Yang Qinting’s job is not against sect rules, and even if questioned from above, Lian Shengyu wouldn’t be punished.

However, it’s a minor but significant hassle for Yang Qinting. If he can’t adapt to the new job, his cultivation might be delayed.

Being in his twenties is a crucial time for a martial artist’s cultivation. Even a three to five-year delay can be extremely detrimental, as it could cause one to miss the optimal time for breaking through to the Innate level.

Furthermore, the environment in the Artifact Refining Workshop is not as good as in the Medicinal Garden, with its ground fires, prolonged stays can cause fire toxin in the body.

Especially since Yang Qinting cultivates with wood attribute techniques, the environment in the Artifact Refining Workshop is even more unfavorable for him.

Li Qianqian looked at Lian Shengyu’s back with a thoughtful expression on her pretty face.

”Senior Brother, did you offend him?”

”No!” Yang Qinting replied.

”Then who did you offend?”

”I don’t think so either!”

”Then did you block someone’s path? That can’t be right, although the Medicinal Garden is nice, it’s not worth fighting over for. Strange, then why is he targeting you?” Li Qianqian said.

Yang Qinting thought for a moment, ”Could it be because of my family?”

”Are you saying your family offended the Lian family?” Li Qianqian realized, ”That makes sense, since he’s from the Lian family, it must be due to the Lian family connection!”

”But in that case, will it affect your family?”

She wasn’t really worried about Yang Qinting. Though the Artifact Refining Workshop isn’t great, it’s still within the sect, and even if Lian Shengyu wants to target him, it wouldn’t be too excessive.

Besides, these outer sect disciples aren’t unnoticed pitiful souls within the sect.

They have a master who oversees their cultivation and a tutor who teaches them various martial arts skills.

The master in charge of their cultivation is nominally their acknowledged master.

The tutor is the one who teaches them various martial arts skills, such as the outer sect elder of the Medicinal Garden being their tutor.

Although they rarely see these two, they do have a mentor-mentee relationship with them.

As long as they can get these two to step in, even the Hundred Crafts Hall can’t just reassign Yang Qinting’s job at will.

In contrast, the Lian family is one of the twelve powerful families. If the Lingxi Yang Family has offended the Lian family, then it would be a bigger trouble.

Yang Qinting couldn’t think of any other reason why Lian Shengyu would target him, the only thing he could think of was an external factor from the sect, which was the offense caused by the Lingxi Yang Family to the Lian family.

As for concern, he had none.

Other people might not know the situation of the Lingxi Yang Family, but didn’t he know?

”There shouldn’t be any problems on my family’s side, right?”

”Really?” Li Qianqian looked at Yang Qinting with bright eyes, ”If Senior Brother needs help, I might be able to lend a hand!”

Yang Qinting was taken aback and looked down at her eyes.

Their gazes met, and Li Qianqian’s usually calm face blushed a little.

”I didn’t expect Junior Sister to have some background as well?” Yang Qinting noticed the blush on her face, his mouth curled into a teasing smirk.
