Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 432: Chapter 415 Bee King Honey, 3 Yellow Plums

And just as Yu Qingyi and his companions hurried towards the Capital City, within the Imperial City of the Capital, Emperor Chengping also received the memorial and gifts from Yang Zhenshan.

The current Emperor Chengping hardly intervened in state affairs anymore; although he wasn’t at the brink of death yet, he was nearly there.

Most of his days were spent in a drowsy stupor, only lucid for a little more than two hours, with sluggish limbs, even walking had become an insurmountable task.

Birth, aging, illness, and death are the natural course of life; no matter if you’re the Emperor, you’re merely a speck in the ocean in the face of these, small and powerless.

The wheel of life rolls on relentlessly, no one can stop its pace, no one can escape its cycle.

At this moment, Emperor Chengping had just awakened from his midday nap, the time of day when he felt most alert.

Eunuch Chen, accompanied by a few young eunuchs, arrived at the bedchamber with several boxes in hand.

”Your Majesty!” he called out softly.

”Hm!” Emperor Chengping lifted his body slightly, leaning on a cushioned couch, and glanced at the bowl of lotus seed porridge on the table in front of him, shaking his head slightly as he spoke in a feeble voice: ”Take it away, I’ve lost my appetite!”

Eunuch Chen didn’t insist, he signaled the young eunuch beside him with a glance, and the eunuch immediately stepped forward and respectfully removed the bowl of porridge.

”Your Majesty, Marquis Jing’an has sent two items from Chongshan Town, your servant thinks they’re quite fine, so I brought them for Your Majesty to see,” Eunuch Chen said, a smile plastered across his face.

”What items?” Emperor Chengping showed a bit of interest.

Eunuch Chen immediately took a wooden case from the young eunuch behind him and opened it, pulling out a telescope.

”Your Majesty, this is a telescope, you can see things far away with it!” Eunuch Chen presented the telescope to Emperor Chengping like a precious treasure.

Emperor Chengping looked curiously at the unremarkable copper tube; he took it in hand and carefully examined it.

But the telescope was heavier than he expected, and he struggled a bit even with both hands.

”Your Majesty, use it like this!” Eunuch Chen had no choice but to step forward and help him adjust it.

Items presented to the Emperor naturally go through meticulous scrutiny, and Eunuch Chen had taken the time to understand how the telescope worked in advance.

The current telescopes were still very rudimentary, simply consisting of two copper tubes fitted together with a lens at one end.

”Your Majesty, do you see that there’s a bird on that branch?”

Eunuch Chen pointed to a branch in the garden outside the door; the distance wasn’t far, and one could see the bird with the naked eye, though not clearly.

As Emperor Chengping continued to look, he found it increasingly fascinating. His interest piqued, and his spirit seemed to revive a bit.

”Look over there, yes, on that tree!” He directed Eunuch Chen to move the telescope, looking left and right quietly. ”Do you see the new buds there?”

Eunuch Chen paused for a moment, but then his smile grew even broader, ”Your Majesty, indeed, those are winter jasmine blossoms!”

Emperor Chengping examined the sprouting winter jasmine for a long time before letting Eunuch Chen put the telescope away.

”What other fine things has Marquis Jing’an sent?”

His interest aroused, he now looked forward to the other gift.

Eunuch Chen chuckled: ”It’s Bee King Honey, brewed in three infusions!”

Emperor Chengping felt a slight disappointment upon hearing this.

What nutritional supplements didn’t he have here? He had tried all that could be eaten, but alas, no matter what he consumed, it all tasted bland and did nothing for his well-being.

”Your servant just tasted it, and found this Bee King Honey to be sweet but not cloying, with a delicate floral fragrance. It can invigorate and energize when drunk, truly a rare delicacy!”

As Eunuch Chen spoke, he brought forward a bowl of Bee King Honey that had been prepared earlier.

He wasn’t lying; he really had tasted it, and it was because he thought highly of it that he brought it before Emperor Chengping.

While Emperor Chengping initially lacked any appetite, the faint fragrance tempted him to take a sip.

A sweet sip of honey water flowed down his throat, a warm and moist stream reaching his belly. In moments, it gave a little warmth to his uncomfortable stomach and reinvigorated his spirit.

Then, Emperor Chengping drank the warm bowl of honey water, and even his complexion seemed to improve quite a bit.

Of course, the effects of the Bee King Honey were not so miraculous; it was just that Emperor Chengping’s mood had improved, which is why his complexion also looked much better.

”Hmm, it’s very thoughtful of Marquis Jing’an!”

To be beholden to someone, to owe someone favors, even an Emperor is no exception.

Having tasted the Bee King Honey sent by Yang Zhenshan, Emperor Chengping’s impression of him improved considerably.

”By the way, is that Jade Dew Spirit Peach still there?” Emperor Chengping asked.

Eunuch Chen grinned: ”Your Majesty, the Crown Prince has bestowed the Jade Dew Spirit Peach to Marquis Changping!”

Emperor Chengping thought about it; the Crown Prince seemed to have mentioned this, but his spirits were not very good recently, and he had forgotten about it.

”Then go to the treasury and fetch a Three Yellow Plums to reward Marquis Jing’an!”

Three Yellow Plums, also known as Origin Fruit, were so named because they resembled plums, and leaves, flowers, and fruit were all yellow.

And the name Three Yellow Plums were given by the founding Emperor of Da Rong.

It was precisely because the founding Emperor encountered the Three Yellow Plums tree that he could establish a foundation that shook the world in Martial Arts. Without the Three Yellow Plums, the founding Emperor would have been no more than a common Martial Artist who, even after a lifetime of cultivation, may have only achieved up to the seventh or eighth layer of the Innate Realm, absolutely not able to compete for supremacy.

To contend for supremacy in the world differs from governing it. In a world where Martial Arts prevail, if one wants to vie for dominance, they must possess personal strength, otherwise, they cannot win the wholehearted obedience of various heroes.

After establishing the dynasty, governing the world no longer required an Emperor with great martial prowess. In times of peace with the people’s hearts settled, both civil governance and martial valor must go hand in hand, which is the way to rule a country.
