Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 403: Chapter 389 Recommendations

He is now the General of Chongshan Town, so he definitely cannot continue to serve as the Commander of the Tenglong Guard, then how should the Tenglong Guard be arranged in the future?

The Camp of Chongshan Town has basically been abolished, and he must raise a new Camp quickly.

Furthermore, of the six Assistant Generals in Chongshan Town, only three remain, including a disabled Ji He, meaning he needs to select four Assistant Generals.

As for the appointment of Assistant Generals, naturally, he cannot decide on his own and needs the Ministry of War to make the appointment, but this does not prevent him from recommending his own people.

After Yang Zhenshan took charge of the General Mansion, he entered the study and began writing intently.

First regarding the Tenglong Guard, he wrote a memorial suggesting that the Tenglong Guard be divided into four guards: front, rear, left, and right, recommending Han Cheng, Zhang Yuanwu, Wu Chongzhe, and Yu Tonghai as commanders of the four guards.

Recommending Han Cheng, Wu Chongzhe, and Yu Tonghai is not hard to understand.

The relationship between Han Cheng and Yang Zhenshan needs no further explanation; assigning him as a commander in the Tenglong Guard is also a promotion.

Moreover, he is not young anymore, probably this is as far as he goes in his lifetime, serving in Tenglong Guard as his retirement is also a good choice.

The Tenglong Guard Navy must be handed over to Yu Tonghai; no one else has such capability.

As for Wu Chongzhe, Yang Zhenshan was actually somewhat hesitant, because Wu Chongzhe is much younger than Han Cheng, only forty-five years old this year, retiring now seems too early.

However, after thinking it over, Yang Zhenshan still decided to keep Wu Chongzhe at the Tenglong Guard.

Wu Chongzhe is familiar with Tenglong Guard and understands everything about it, he could help Yang Zhenshan keep an eye on Tenglong Guard to prevent it from straying in the future.

And recommending Zhang Yuanwu to Tenglong Guard, the main reason is Yang Zhenshan feels that Zhang Yuanwu is not suitable to be Assistant General of the north route of Chongshan Town.

Zhang Chengzhi can be Assistant General of the east route of Chongshan Town, but Zhang Yuanwu cannot be the Assistant General of the north route.

The reason is simple, Yang Zhenshan values the future of the north route of Chongshan Town greatly, he needs to have full control over it.

Maybe Zhang Yuanwu would also obey his commands, but certainly not as smoothly as his own people.

So, it’s only fitting to transfer Zhang Yuanwu to Tenglong Guard.

Actually, this is not to treat Zhang Yuanwu unfairly, previously he was just a Deputy Magistrate in Songzhou Guard and a seated officer in the Rescue Camp, transferring to Tenglong Guard, serving as a Commander there, is also a promotion.

After finishing the memorial regarding Tenglong Guard, Yang Zhenshan then wrote another memorial recommending various Assistant Generals for Chongshan Town.

Xie Yuan as Assistant General for the west route Daning Guard of Chongshan Town, Yang Mingzhi as Assistant General for the north route Fuzhou Guard of Chongshan Town, Zhang Chengzhi as Assistant General for the east route Songzhou Guard of Chongshan Town, and Qin He as Assistant General for the south route Dingliao Guard of Chongshan Town.

Additionally, recommending Song Dashan, Yang Minghao, Yang Mingzhen, Luo Feiyu, and Han Fei as five Guerrilla Generals and seated officers of the Five Camps.

As the direct troops of the General, Yang Zhenshan naturally has to firmly hold onto Camp, filling all five positions with his close associates.

Among them, Song Dashan was the most aggrieved, after all, his previous position in Tenglong Guard was above Yang Mingzhi.

But he couldn’t be an Assistant General, his straightforward nature simply has no way to manage military and political affairs.

Thus, Yang Zhenshan recommended Yang Mingzhi.

True to the saying, showcasing the virtuous doesn’t avoid kinship!

Yang Zhenshan makes no secret of recommending his own son.

In fact, in his heart, Yang Minghao, Yang Mingzhen, and Luo Feiyu are more suitable for Assistant Generals than Zhang Chengzhi and Qin He.

These three are young generations personally nurtured by him, their strength and capability are not much less than Yang Mingzhi. They are stronger than Zhang Chengzhi and Qin He.

But Yang Zhenshan cannot turn Chongshan Town into the Yang family’s domain, so he had to recommend Zhang Chengzhi and Qin He.

Zhang Chengzhi has military achievements, and Qin He is the candidate recommended by Ji He.

Yang Zhenshan is also willing to do this favor smoothly.

After sending out two memorials, Yang Zhenshan pondered whether the court would agree to his requests.

If it were the old Emperor managing court affairs, he would definitely not have this worry.

But now the Crown Prince supervises the state, and his heart is somewhat unsure.

What if the Crown Prince used this opportunity to cause trouble, planting his people in Chongshan Town, what should be done then?

”Ah~~ I also don’t know what’s been happening at court lately!”

Yang Zhenshan sighed deeply.

Communication is so inconvenient at this time; it takes at least four to five days for news from the Capital City to reach Chongshan Town, the communication is too delayed.

”However, Zhengshan could only sigh; when it rains, it pours, and some matters are beyond his control.

If the Crown Prince really intends to place his people in Chongshan Town, Zhengshan has no choice but to endure it.

Over the next few days, Zhengshan remained busy with matters concerning Chongshan Town.

The members of the Yang family were still in Tenglong Guard. Qingyi had received a letter from home notifying her that Zhengshan would not be returning to Tenglong Guard, so she planned to move the Yang family to Chongshan Town after some time.

The reason for the delay was that she wanted to settle the marriage of Lin Zhan before moving to Chongshan Town.

While Zhengshan was engaged in military campaigns on the west road of Chongshan Town, Qingyi was preoccupied with arranging Lin Zhan’s marriage at home. She wasn’t worried about Zhengshan’s safety, as she knew his capabilities the best.

In her heart, Zhengshan could lose battles, but he would never be utterly defeated, unless confronted by an Innate Martial Artist.

With Zhengshan’s abilities, even if he lost a battle, he could still escape.

Thus, she wasn’t too worried about his safety.

As for Lin Zhan’s marriage matters, they were almost settled; the only thing remaining was to fix the wedding date.

Qingyi personally went to Liao’an Prefecture to discuss and set the wedding date with Mrs. An of the Zheng family.

Eventually, the wedding date was set for the eighteenth of December of this year.

This schedule was somewhat rushed, but Lin Zhan was not getting any younger. Moreover, he intended to participate in the imperial examinations next spring. If he didn’t get married this year, he’d have to wait until next autumn.

In the Zheng family’s main hall, Qingyi had a pleasant conversation with Mrs. An.

’I’ve seen Lin Zhan; oh, he is fortunate to have you as his mentors,’ Mrs. An said tenderly, holding Qingyi’s hand.

Qingyi smiled, ’As long as Madam An doesn’t mind his lonely background.’

’What’s there to mind? In choosing a son-in-law, our Zheng family values virtues. As for family background, as long as our daughter is happy in the future, why should we fuss about a humble origin?’ Mrs. An replied.

’However, I heard that the Yang family has family rules. Will the apprentice need to abide by these rules?’ Mrs. An changed the topic slightly.

How happy a woman is after marriage also depends on how peaceful the family she marries into is.

Though Lin Zhan has a lonely background, such loneliness offers its advantages, as there will at least be no need to serve demanding in-laws or deal with conflicts among sisters-in-law.

Therefore, whether Lin Zhan’s household will be peaceful in the future depends on whether he takes multiple wives or concubines.

’Of course, this is what his master values most. If he dares not comply, his master will surely expel him from the sect!’ Qingyi said with a grin.

Given Lin Zhan’s background, marrying into the Zheng family was certainly marrying above his status.

Thus, Qingyi’s visit had an undertone of seeking a marriage alliance, naturally putting Mrs. An in high regard.

Moreover, she was not lying; Lin Zhan was part of the Yang family and would definitely abide by its rules.

Unless one day he leaves the Yang family, which would be akin to being expelled from the sect.

Mrs. An’s smile brightened at these words, as she placed great importance on this matter, knowing well the hardships when a man has many wives and concubines.

Zheng Xiao was not a man of restrained desires; he saw having multiple romantic involvements as tasteful, and had several concubines at home.

Mrs. An had often suffered from the vixens at home on ordinary days, thus she particularly hoped her daughter would not endure the same.

After chatting casually for a while longer, Qingyi took her leave.

The main purpose of the visit was already accomplished; any further discussion was just trivial.

In fact, even if Lin Zhan were to take concubines in the future, Mrs. An wouldn’t prevent her daughter from marrying him.

The reason is simple.

Lin Zhan was talented both in literary and martial pursuits.

Even if Lin Zhan couldn’t pass the civil service examinations in the future, he could still join the military as a Military Officer. With the support of the Yang family, his future in the military was undoubtedly bright.

Simply put, Lin Zhan’s future was promising.

Mrs. An naturally had no reason to object.

After the wedding was arranged, Qingyi returned to Tenglong Guard and started preparing to move.

Although Zhengshan still held the post of Commander of Tenglong Guard, his future would be mainly as the General of Chongshan Town, and he would have to live permanently near Chongshan Pass, so the Yang family would definitely need to move there.

After several turns, they were back to Chongshan Pass.

The people of the Yang family were quite happy about this.”
