Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 355: Chapter 343 Lin Zhan Returns

”Martial Artist, our training camp now has over three hundred people!” Wang Yunqiao said with a hint of grievance.

She felt that the Master always underestimated their female training camp. Although it wasn’t quite like the Five Army Camps, these sisters were also very formidable, far more so than ordinary soldiers.

”Over three hundred people? How did the number increase by so much?” Yang Zhenshan was slightly surprised.

”Yeah, a number of sisters wanted to return to the training camp after getting married and having children, I didn’t accept all of them, only selected those with better qualifications!” Wang Yunqiao revealed a smug expression.

Return to the training camp after getting married and having children!

Yang Zhenshan showed an expression of realization.

Getting married and having children meant that they had completed a significant part of their lives and also meant that they had their own confidence. Wanting to return to the training camp was not incomprehensible.

Looking at this, it seems that an army of women could indeed be formed. However, it’s much more troublesome for women to become soldiers than men, it’s only in the Tenglong Guard that such gossip would be less.

”Here’s what we’ll do, it’s okay for the female training camp to recruit, but it cannot exceed five hundred people. As for the warhorses, go to Zhou Ren later and have him allocate three hundred horses to you!” Yang Zhenshan thought having a female training camp was good, who knows, maybe many powerful female warriors would emerge from it in the future.

As for the warhorses, the Tenglong Guard was not short of horses now, three hundred warhorses were no big deal.

”Thank you, Martial Artist, I knew you would be the most reasonable and understanding!” Wang Yunqiao was overjoyed upon hearing his approval.

”That’s enough, no more flattery, hurry up and go, otherwise, your Master might change his mind,” Yang Zhenshan said with annoyance.

Perhaps because she had grown up, Wang Yunqiao had become more uninhibited around Yang Zhenshan, even daring to joke with him.

”Disciple obeys! Disciple will take her leave!”

Wang Yunqiao giggled, bowed, and exited the study.

Yang Zhenshan watched her leave and shook his head slightly, ”I can’t deny being old, the children have all grown up!”

Now, this body of his was already fifty years old. Although he didn’t want to admit it, the fact was right before him, and he had no choice but to accept it.

Especially with the children growing up around him, it made him feel like he was no longer young.

Alright, his youth had nothing to do with him anymore, but deep down in his heart, there was always an element of pure childlike spirit and a stubbornness that refused to grow old.

After dealing with some official duties of the government office, he felt it was about time, so he stood up and went home.

Today, the Yang family residence was exceptionally lively, with servants bustling back and forth, and even more people, young and old, gathered in the main hall.

When Yang Zhenshan arrived at the main hall, everyone was laughing and talking.

”What are you talking about? I could hear your laughter from far away!”

Yang Zhenshan strode into the hall, and, seeing a roomful of people, he laughed.

His gaze moved and finally settled on a tall figure.

”Martial Artist!”

Lin Zhan stepped forward and knelt before Yang Zhenshan, kowtowing three resounding times, ”Disciple has returned!”

Yang Zhenshan reached out to help him up and sized him up.

Four years had passed; Lin Zhan followed Liu Zhe to travel the world for four years, and today he had just returned to the Tenglong Guard.

”Not bad, you’ve grown more robust, hmm, and matured!” Yang Zhenshan said with a beaming smile.

”How has it been? How were these years for you outside?”

Yang Zhenshan sat down next to Yu Qingyi, who handed him a bowl of tea.

Standing by the side, Lin Zhan said, ”Pretty good, Teacher took me to many places, and it was mostly smooth!”

For a full four years, Lin Zhan had followed Liu Zhe almost all over Da Rong, visiting the desolate northwest, the prosperous and beautiful Jiangnan, the rugged mountains of the southwest, and finally, they returned to the Capital City, where they stayed for more than half a year.

To say it was smooth is not exactly accurate—they experienced many hardships. In one of the worst instances, Liu Zhe even broke a leg and recuperated in a small village for nearly a year.

In fact, Lin Zhan had been writing home throughout these years, but as a child away from home, he tended to share only the good news, not the worries. Yang Zhenshan could discern his child’s feelings from the letters but did not know exactly what happened.

However, seeing the matured Lin Zhan now, Yang Zhenshan understood that this journey must have brought its share of hardships.

Regarding this, Yang Zhenshan was not heartbroken or reluctant.

An eagle chick must grow, must spread its wings to fly, and find its own sky.

To grow, how could one not pay a price?

Yang Zhenshan didn’t ask for details about Lin Zhan’s experiences over the years. In fact, before Lin Zhan returned, Liu Zhe had already sent him a letter, which, although it did not specify what Lin Zhan had experienced, Liu Zhe’s praise and show-off were enough to put Yang Zhenshan’s mind at ease.

”What were you talking about just now?” Yang Zhenshan turned to look at Yu Qingyi.

Yu Qingyi smiled, ”We were talking about Lin Zhan’s marriage!”

”Marriage!” Yang Zhenshan nodded, ”Indeed, it’s time to get married!”

He turned to look at Lin Zhan, ”Do you have a girl you fancy?”

Lin Zhan’s face flushed with heat, ”Martial Artist, no.”

The young man had matured quite a bit but was still a naïve young man at heart.

Yang Zhenshan blinked and joked, ”Didn’t your Teacher take you to the pleasure houses in Jiangnan?”

”No, no!” Lin Zhan was even more embarrassed, waving his hands repeatedly.

”You old shameless, what nonsense are you talking about!” Yu Qingyi smacked Yang Zhenshan disgruntledly.

Yang Zhenshan coughed lightly, ”Aren’t literati known to seek pleasures? I thought Liu Zhe would have taken him to experience it!”

If Liu Zhe were here, he would definitely reproach Yang Zhenshan verbally.
