Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 146: Chapter 142: I may be older, but my kidneys are still strong.

The next day, Yang Zhenshan led Yang Minghao and twenty soldiers with three horse-drawn carts to the Songzhou Guard in Jia City.

Originally, he wanted to visit Assistant General Wang Bin first, but Wang Bin was not in Jia City; it was said that he had gone to Chongshan Pass.

Probably to deliver festival gifts.

Yang Zhenshan guessed as much in his heart, yet he still felt some regret at not being able to see Wang Bin. As a subordinate, it was natural to show one’s face in front of the leadership regularly, especially with gift-giving. Without meeting the host, it always felt like something was missing.

But he couldn’t stay in Jia City waiting for Wang Bin; there was no way, so he had to entrust his prepared festival gifts to the steward of Wang Bin’s Mansion.

The steward was indeed polite, he even specially invited Yang Zhenshan inside to sit for a while, and also called for Wang Bin’s eldest son, Wang Sheng, to come and receive Yang Zhenshan.

In the exquisitely decorated living room, Wang Sheng greeted him with a very gentle salute: ”Nephew Wang Sheng pays respects to Uncle Yang!”

Hearing this address, Yang Zhenshan felt a bit odd inside.

”Greetings to the eldest young master, haha, everyone outside says that the eldest young master has exceptional talent, and extraordinary martial arts achievements. Seeing you today, it’s indeed not an unearned reputation!”

Yang Zhenshan flattered a bit as he spoke.

But his words were not entirely flattery. This eldest son of the Wang family truly possessed extraordinary martial arts talent, reportedly becoming a Martial Artist at fifteen, and a Postnatal Martial Artist by eighteen. Now at only twenty-three, he was a Postnatal Fourth Layer Martial Artist.

Such aptitude was enough to be described as genius.

And like Yang Chengze, although he also became a Martial Artist at fifteen and a Postnatal Martial Artist by eighteen, let’s not forget that Yang Chengze’s achievements were aided by Yang Zhenshan’s help.

Compared with Wang Sheng, Yang Chengze was not just a little bit behind.

Of course, this is comparing the previous Yang Chengze; what the future holds is uncertain.

Spiritual Spring Water has the effect of enhancing potential, and potential is also considered a talent. Now, people like Yang Chengze could also be described as geniuses.

Yang Zhenshan didn’t care how high Wang Sheng’s talent was; what he found odd was that Wang Sheng was so passionate and even called him Uncle Yang.

This title obviously put him on the same generational level as Wang Bin,

If talking about age, Yang Zhenshan was indeed about the same age as Wang Bin, but Wang Bin was an Assistant General, while he was merely a garrison commander; there was a big difference in status and identity between them.

Logically speaking, Wang Sheng had no need to be so courteous towards him.

”Uncle Yang, please have a seat!” Wang Sheng warmly invited Yang Zhenshan to sit down, his attitude becoming even more enthusiastic.

The address changed from Uncle Yang of the Yang family to Uncle Yang, bringing them slightly closer.

Yang Zhenshan was a bit confused for a moment, and could only sit down.

”I have heard that Uncle Yang is skilled at military training and has even compiled a book on military training!” Wang Sheng looked at him somewhat eagerly.

Yang Zhenshan nodded, ”That’s right!”

”Then, could I learn this method of military training from Uncle Yang?” Wang Sheng asked.

Again, Yang Zhenshan nodded, ”Of course, in a couple of days, I’ll have someone send a copy of the military training record to the young master!”

”No, no, I want to go to An Yuan City and train with Uncle Yang for a while!” Wang Sheng finally revealed his true purpose.

Yang Zhenshan was stunned; this eldest son actually wanted to follow him.

In fact, Yang Zhenshan didn’t know that the military training book he had compiled had caused quite a stir at Chongshan Pass.

Compared with ”The Thirty-Six Stratagems,” the ”Record of Military Training” was undoubtedly more practical.

Those who have read ”The Thirty-Six Stratagems” might feel that its strategies were too presumptuous, after all, the use of stratagems requires understanding and insight, whether they can be applied, and how effectively they’re used, depends on the individual.

But the ”Record of Military Training” is different. The content written in it can be directly applied in reality, with many military training methods in the book fitting perfectly into actual practice.

Chongshan Town was teeming with Military Officers, and most of them have had experience in training troops.

Many aspects of the book could be integrated with their training experiences; it’s just that nobody before had compiled these techniques so comprehensively and so detailed.

Many Military Officers’ initial reaction after reading the ”Record of Military Training” was enlightenment.

This made many Military Officers deeply acknowledge the content of the ”Record of Military Training.”

Among them included Wang Bin and Wang Sheng; Wang Bin, after getting the ”Record of Military Training,” read it with great interest for several days, and even took a group of soldiers to try out the training, indirectly verifying the effectiveness of the training methods in the book.

Wang Bin praised the ”Record of Military Training” repeatedly in front of Wang Sheng, which made Wang Sheng very interested in ”Record of Military Training,” but he was even more interested in Yang Zhenshan himself.

Therefore, before Yang Zhenshan’s arrival, he had repeatedly instructed the steward to notify him if Yang Zhenshan came.

Upon hearing Wang Sheng’s request, Yang Zhenshan hesitated to say: ”Is this appropriate? Would the Assistant General agree?”

Wang Sheng’s training by his side was not a simple matter of learning.

It could be said to be imparting doctrine, conferring professional knowledge, and resolving doubts, even without the name of a disciple, the reality of it was there.

If this were to happen, then Wang Sheng would have to perform the courtesies of a junior whenever he met Yang Zhenshan in the future, and he and Wang Bin would truly be on the same generational level.

The bureaucracy may not consider seniority, but the favor of a teacher must not be disregarded.

”Don’t worry Uncle Yang, my father has already agreed!” Wang Sheng said.

What more could Yang Zhenshan say, since even Wang Bin had agreed, he naturally couldn’t refuse any longer.

”Then after the New Year, the garrison in An Yuan City is about to train, and the young master can go there and give some pointers!”

”For that, I thank Uncle Yang!” Wang Sheng said with a beaming smile.

Uncle Yang has now become an uncle; the matter is no longer about seniority.

However, Yang Zhenshan also understood Wang Sheng’s intentions, becoming a disciple is impossible, but I want to learn your skills, and will definitely respect you.

From now on, you are my uncle; the Wang family and the Yang family are also considered allies.

To this end, Yang Zhenshan was naturally more than happy.

Gaining favor with this eldest son had no downside for him; on the contrary, there were many benefits.

Yang Zhenshan exchanged courtesies with Wang Sheng once again before excusing himself.

Wang Sheng wished to retain Yang Zhenshan for a meal, yet Yang Zhenshan politely declined citing official duties to attend to.

Of course, it wasn’t official duties he had; he was going to the Guardian Department to present a gift to Sha Pingchuan.

After leaving the Wang family mansion, Yang Zhenshan headed to the Guardian Department, where he met with Sha Pingchuan, the Commander of the Guard.

This Commander, ever the picture of a jolly Maitreya Buddha, beamed with a smile that suggested wealth followed mirth.

”Master Yang, hahaha, please come in, come in!”

Sha Pingchuan seemed quite delighted to see Yang Zhenshan.

”Your humble servant pays respects to the Commander!” Yang Zhenshan bowed first, then followed Sha Pingchuan into the hall.

Once the tea was served, Yang Zhenshan presented the prepared list of gifts to Sha Pingchuan.

”With the festive season upon us, I humbly offer this token of appreciation. I hope you won’t disdain it!”

Sha Pingchuan accepted the list without opening it and simply placed it aside, ”I have never been fond of these mundane ceremonies, but since Master Yang has brought them, I shall shamelessly accept!”

”Haha, Master Yang, your timing is perfect. Stay for a meal today, someone, someone~~”

Without waiting for Yang Zhenshan to respond, Sha Pingchuan had already arranged for the feast, making Yang Zhenshan feel somewhat embarrassed.

Wang Sheng’s warmth was understandable; after all, he was merely holding a nominal position in the military and had nothing else that Yang Zhenshan need concern himself with besides being Wang Bin’s eldest son.

But Sha Pingchuan, Yang Zhenshan’s direct superior, was also unexpectedly enthusiastic.

Could it be because of the ”Military Training Records”?

Yang Zhenshan couldn’t quite grasp his intentions, but he couldn’t refuse either.

The meal prepared quickly, and the opulent dishes made Yang Zhenshan marvel quietly to himself.

Over a dozen dishes adorned the large eight-immortal table, each one enticing in aroma and appearance.

”Come, have a seat. This is the finest lamb spirit wine. Try it, Master Yang!”

Sha Pingchuan poured a full cup of wine for Yang Zhenshan.

Hearing it was lamb spirit wine, a flash of surprise crossed Yang Zhenshan’s eyes.

Although he didn’t drink often, he had heard of Da Rong’s exquisite wines.

This lamb spirit wine, produced in Lingzhou with a unique recipe, uses millet, tender lamb, fresh fruits, and medicinal herbs in its fermentation, offering benefits like nourishing yin, moistening lungs, and boosting Primordial Qi.

It was said that the Great Rong Grand Ancestor Emperor was aided by lamb spirit wine in his campaigns, afterward decreeing it as the ”Imperial Attire Wine,” making it a tribute item nowadays.

For Martial Artists, the lamb spirit wine was also considered a rare medicinal liquor.

Only the Treasure Medicine Pavilion in Chongshan Pass sold lamb spirit wine, priced at thirty taels for two taels of wine.

Put simply, this was more expensive than gold.

Now Yang Zhenshan felt even more puzzled; what was Sha Pingchuan implying by serving him such a luxurious wine?

Where there’s something abnormal, there’s bound to be a demon at play.

Yang Zhenshan became instinctively cautious.

Holding the cup, Yang Zhenshan sniffed the wine and felt that it likely contained no poison.

”Then, I will first toast to your honor!”

Regardless of what Sha Pingchuan intended, now that the feast was served, he couldn’t be rude.

”No rush, no rush!”

Sha Pingchuan waved his hand and then called out towards the door, ”Come in!”

Yang Zhenshan, puzzled, looked towards the entrance.

Soon enough, his expression turned rather intriguing.

One by one, dancers in gauzy skirts entered, their graceful figures twirling seductively behind the sheer fabric, radiating enchantment and elegance with every move.

Especially the leading dancer, whose diaphanous attire swirled as she spun, her delicate figure tantalizingly obscured and revealed, her pretty face adorned with a dazzling smile.

The smile!

It was such an infectious smile.

Not the soul-seizing kind, but one that fills the heart with joy at first sight.

Just seeing her cheerful expression made one’s heart fill with delight.

Such allure was more captivating than any temptation.

Master, are you testing your subordinates?

A turmoil arose within Yang Zhenshan.

Damn it, I may be older now, but my kidney’s still strong.

This test is truly hard to withstand!

Even with countless experiences from his past life, Yang Zhenshan was feeling a bit restless.

It wasn’t his fault, after all, given his strong physique.

Martial Artists had naturally more robust bodies than average people, and being a Postnatal Martial Artist, Yang Zhenshan’s vigor was unsurprisingly more intense.

Ordinarily, he wouldn’t think much of it, but faced with such a scene,

Yang Zhenshan had to admit he was struggling to restrain himself.
