Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 139: Chapter 135 You Insult My Innocence!

West City, inside a dimly lit small courtyard.

Candlelight flickered like soybeans, dispelling the darkness in the room bit by bit.

Yi Shan, dressed in a blue robe, stood beside the candlelight, his expression solemn as he looked at Hou Jun across from him.

”What’s the matter?”

At this moment, Hou Jun had already changed out of his night clothes, his chest wrapped in white cotton cloth, fresh red bloodstains dyeing the white cotton red.

”It’s Yu Qingyi!”

Hou Jun, in his thirties, was as handsome as his name suggested. Even with a pale face due to his injuries, there was still a sickly beauty about him.

”Yu Qingyi!” Yi Shan’s eyes sparkled, ”Why would she be here?”

Hou Jun was silent for a moment before he said, ”Big Brother has been suppressing the Sky Blue Sword Sect recently.”

Yi Shan was startled.

He was the military strategist of Black Cliff Village, second in status only to the great leader Rong Qianjun. Even Zheng Qidao and Hou Jun couldn’t compare to him.

He had always been the one devising strategies for Rong Qianjun, and over the years, his schemes had allowed Black Cliff Village to continuously grow.

However, he had no idea about the suppression of the Sky Blue Sword Sect.

”Why suppress the Sky Blue Sword Sect?”

But as soon as he asked the question, he thought of the answer.

Why?

There were many answers to this question.

Black Cliff Village and Sky Blue Sword Sect were both martial arts sects in the Liaodong Region, natural competitors.

The struggles between martial arts sects were all about interests.

Liaodong couldn’t accommodate two powerful martial arts sects.

Thus, it was only logical for Black Cliff Village to suppress the Sky Blue Sword Sect.

Besides, Black Cliff Village had long wanted to annex the Sky Blue Sword Sect, but the Sky Blue Sword Sect was not weak, and they had not found an opportunity yet.

Another reason was for the Sect Leader Yu Qingyi, who had a great reputation in the martial arts circles of the Liaodong Region.

Ten years ago, Yu Qingyi was recognized as the number one talent in Liaodong, a Postnatal Martial Artist at only eighteen, her Sky Blue Sword technique was incomparable, unmatched among her generation.

Furthermore, Yu Qingyi was also known as the number one female warrior and the most beautiful woman in Liaodong.

Back then, the great leader Rong Qianjun wanted to marry Yu Qingyi into his family, not for himself, but for his son.

The benefits of marrying Yu Qingyi went without saying. Just her martial arts talent alone could sustain Black Cliff Village for decades, Rong Qianjun had planned well, but how could the Sky Blue Sword Sect willingly give away such a fine prospect.

The Sky Blue Sword Sect refused Black Cliff Village, and Yu Qingyi was unwilling to marry into Black Cliff Village. To avoid entanglements with Black Cliff Village, Yu Qingyi became engaged to a fellow disciple the second month after Black Cliff Village’s proposal.

However, before she could get married, her betrothed fellow disciple was killed.

At that time, the incident caused quite a stir in worldly society, many people in the martial arts circles said that her fiancé was killed by someone from Black Cliff Village, and the Sky Blue Sword Sect suspected this as well.

But the Sky Blue Sword Sect never found the evidence, and Black Cliff Village consistently denied it, so the matter became a thing of the past.

Five years ago, the old Sect Leader of Sky Blue Sword Sect passed away, passing the leadership to Yu Qingyi.

However, Rong Qianjun still hadn’t given up, often expressing his willingness to let his younger son marry Yu Qingyi.

By that time, Yu Qingyi was already twenty-three, while his younger son was only sixteen.

Yu Qingyi naturally would not agree to Rong Qianjun, and after several refusals, Rong Qianjun began suppressing the Sky Blue Sword Sect, trying to force Yu Qingyi to compromise.

Yi Shan was aware of all these, he perhaps just didn’t recall it immediately.

”How did the leader suppress the Sky Blue Sword Sect?” Yi Shan asked.

Hou Jun said, ”We’ve been stealing Sky Blue Sword Sect’s business!”

”In An Yuan State?” Yi Shan’s face turned grim.

”Yes!” Hou Jun nodded.

”Damn, doesn’t the leader know we can’t afford any mistakes in An Yuan State?”

Yi Shan cursed irritably.

Suppressing the Sky Blue Sword Sect was not something he opposed, but doing so in An Yuan State crossed his line.

An Yuan State held too many secrets, secrets they absolutely could not afford to expose.

Yet Rong Qianjun messed around in An Yuan State. If the Sky Blue Sword Sect discovered anything, it could potentially doom the entire Black Cliff Village.

At this moment, Yi Shan didn’t know they were already under the surveillance of the Secret Martial Guards, otherwise, he would definitely be more irritated.

Hou Jun remained silent, having no say in this matter. Rong Qianjun was a domineering person. Apart from Yi Shan, no one else could influence his decisions.

Seeing Hou Jun silent, Yi Shan, getting angry alone, gradually calmed his irritability.

”Did Li He say who the person who finally intervened was?” Yi Shan thought of the person who rescued Yu Qingyi last, and asked.

”Lord Li He doesn’t know who that person was. They simply threw a handful of Copper Coins and didn’t make a move!” Hou Jun said.

”What about the garrison office? Any movement?”

”None, there has been no activity until now!”

Yi Shan breathed a sigh of relief, ”Investigate, find Yu Qingyi and that mysterious person, also keep a close watch on the garrison office, we can’t afford any more mistakes!”

At this moment, he couldn’t care about anything else. Compared to the Sky Blue Sword Sect, Yang Zhenshan, the garrison officer, was undeniably more critical.

The most urgent task was to win over Yang Zhenshan; otherwise, whatever they did in An Yuan State City would be hindered.

...

Yang Zhenshan waited all night, and it was close to dawn when Qingyi awoke.

Upon waking up, Qingyi’s eyes were filled with confusion and doubt. Observing the unfamiliar surroundings, she froze for a moment before suddenly realizing, and swiftly climbed up from the heated kang, her eyes guardedly scanning the area.

”Don’t be nervous, it’s safe here!”

At this moment, Yang Zhenshan’s voice came from the other end of the heated kang.

Alert, Qingyi followed the voice and saw Yang Zhenshan in a blue long robe, leaning against the wall, pretending to sleep.

”It’s you!” Qingyi recognized Yang Zhenshan almost immediately, as she had previously investigated his identity and her impression of him was much more profound than his of her.

”Where is this place?” Qingyi continued to ask.

”My bedroom!” Yang Zhenshan opened his eyes and replied.

”Your bedroom!” Qingyi was initially stunned, then she realized, ”This is the garrison office!”

Yang Zhenshan raised his eyebrows, ”You know who I am?”

He had only mentioned this place as his bedroom, yet she concluded it was the garrison office, evidently knowing his identity.

Qingyi fell silent, and Yang Zhenshan did not rush her, quietly waiting for her response.

At this time, Qingyi’s mind was in chaos.

She had ambushed Hou Jun but attracted a powerful martial artist; then she got injured and was rescued, entered a coma, and finally ended up here.

She finally sorted out the events, but suddenly her complexion changed, and she anxiously glanced at her clothes.

”You despicable scoundrel!”

Yang Zhenshan was baffled. How had he become a despicable scoundrel?

”What do you mean?”

”You saw my body!” Qingyi looked at the bandaged wounds on her body.

”Damn, don’t falsely accuse me, be careful or I’ll sue you for defamation!”

Yang Zhenshan was also agitated.

This was a blatant slander.

He did help this woman bandage her wounds, but those wounds were either on the shoulder or on the legs, and he never approached any critical areas. How could that be considered seeing her body?

”You!” Qingyi pointed at her shoulder.

Naturally, bandaging involved removing torn cloth, but Yang Zhenshan did not undress her; he only tore off a small part, exposing perhaps just a shoulder.

But in Qingyi’s eyes, Yang Zhenshan had seen her body.

”You tarnish my chastity!” Qingyi was full of anger, not considering at all that Yang Zhenshan had saved her.

Yang Zhenshan felt somewhat headachy; he seemed to have overlooked the local customs.

Proper conduct between men and women.

Just a few words between strange men and women could lead to gossip, let alone when a man and a woman were alone in a room bandaging wounds.

There is a saying, ”people of the worldly society do not fuss over trifles,” and it’s true that people of the martial world are more open-minded, but it varies from person to person, and clearly, this woman is conservative.

The customs here might seem unbelievable, but indeed they match.

A mere embrace signifies a commitment for life, and he not only held this woman but also saw her shoulders and thighs!

Damn!

I gained no advantage at all.

Thinking this, Yang Zhenshan felt somewhat guilty.

He indeed had no improper thoughts before, but bandaging wounds inevitably involves some contact.

Cough, cough~~

Qingyi stared at Yang Zhenshan with a cold face, her eyes brimming with lethal intent.

And Yang Zhenshan frowned, feeling that this woman had not understood the situation.

Clang!

The spear aimed straight at Qingyi, Yang Zhenshan said sternly, ”You don’t understand something, you are now a prisoner at the foot of the steps!”

He saved this woman not out of kindness, but to understand her identity, the reason she ambushed Hou Jun, and whether she knew something.

To think she nearly messed up his plans. Did she really think he saved her out of goodness?

Seeing the sharp spear tip, Qingyi’s pupils shrank sharply, and her thoughts finally cleared from the haze.

She was not a mindless woman, just that she had just woken up with toxins not fully cleared from her body, plus the confusion of being in a new environment, she had not promptly grasped the situation.

Now seeing the spear tip close at hand, her mind was instantly alert.

Yang Zhenshan is a garrison officer, and she is a Jianghu martial artist.

Though not naturally antagonistic, they aren’t on the same side either, and importantly, she had seen Hou Jun leaving from the garrison office.

”I!” Qingyi’s expression froze, but she quickly reacted, standing up to bow to Yang Zhenshan, ”Commoner Qingyi greets the Honorable Garrison Official!”

”Qingyi!” Yang Zhenshan looked at the woman, his thoughts stirring.

A married woman!

Such a sin, if her husband knew about this, would he come knocking?

Not right!

I didn’t make her cheat, why should he find me!

Moreover, this woman is now his prisoner; whether she can be released is another matter.
