BTTH: Rebirth of Liu Xi

Thus, the Pill Gathering came to an end.

The entire process had been nothing short of extraordinary—full of twists and turns. Not only had countless 8th Tier Pills appeared, but even the Hall of Souls had stirred the waters. Yet, in the end, it was Liu Xi who drew forth the Seven-Colored Pill Lightning, giving everyone a sight they would remember for a lifetime—something even most Dou Zun experts might never witness.

Now, throughout Holy Pill City, the name ”Medicine Lord” Liu Xi had spread like wildfire, and it was racing through the Pill Region and toward the entire Central Plains at an astonishing pace.

Liu Xi, of course, was unaware of all this. And even if he had known, he would’ve merely smiled and brushed it off. At that moment, he wanted nothing more than to return home and sleep.

He was utterly exhausted. The Pill Gathering had lasted more than twenty days, and although he had managed to elevate his Spiritual Power midway through, it had still drained him nearly dry.

He could have stopped at summoning the Five-Colored Pill Lightning to surpass Mu Gu, but this pill held special meaning for him. Following his own principle—if you refine, refine the best—he poured in every ounce of Spiritual Power he could muster, elevating its spirit until it summoned the Seven-Colored Pill Lightning. Even among 8th Tier Pills, it stood at the very peak.

He still remembered that after Association Head Xuan Kongzi had announced the end of the Pill Gathering, when he went to collect the Replenishing Origin Pill, that sacred white tiger pill had glared at him with what could only be described as aggrieved resentment. It looked almost as if Liu Xi had done it some great injustice.

In the end, Liu Xi could only pinch the reluctant white tiger into a pill and store it inside a jade bottle. Even now, recalling that moment made him feel oddly guilty—like some heartless scoundrel who had abandoned his lover after ”getting her pregnant.”

He couldn’t help sighing at the realization: after the 8th Tier, the higher the pill’s quality, the stronger its spirit. No wonder that in the Tuoshe Ancient Emperor’s Mansion, the embryonic Emperor Pill possessed a consciousness like that of a living being—and power so fearsome that even several 9-Star Dou Saints combined couldn’t subdue it.

Back in his courtyard, Liu Xi gave Xiao Yixian a few casual instructions before heading straight into his room and collapsing into bed. Sleep, after all, was the fastest way to restore his weary mind.

A full day and night passed before Liu Xi finally awoke, his mental fatigue fully restored. His mind felt clear, his body refreshed.

Sunlight streamed through the window. Liu Xi stretched, washed up, and dressed neatly before stepping outside—only to discover that his courtyard was crowded with unexpected guests.

Valley Master Luo of Sound Valley, Valley Master Tang of Burning Flame Valley, and Venerable Lei of Wind Lightning Pavilion had all arrived—along with their disciples and kin.

After the Pill Gathering, Liu Xi’s fame and strength had already been proven beyond doubt. This visit, clearly, was to strengthen ties and maintain goodwill.

The moment he appeared, he was showered with enthusiastic congratulations, one after another, like gifts being thrown at him—though, of course, they cost nothing to give.

Still, all were long-standing acquaintances, and Liu Xi welcomed them warmly. The atmosphere quickly became lively and cordial.

Then Valley Master Luo’s proud voice suddenly broke through the chatter. ”Master Liu, I heard that you were once ambushed by Mu Gu of the Hall of Souls, and that he still bears a grudge. Would you like me to capture him for you—so that you can personally take his head and vent your anger?”

Valley Master Tang nodded in agreement. ”Valley Master Luo speaks truly. The Hall of Souls may be powerful, but if we act together, they cannot ignore us. Capturing one Mu Gu shouldn’t be difficult.”

Venerable Lei hesitated slightly, looking a bit embarrassed. The Wind Lightning Pavilion’s strength could not compare with the Hall of Souls; such bold talk didn’t suit him. But when he glanced at Feng Qing’er and saw her subtle nod of approval, he straightened up.

After all, while Wind Lightning Pavilion might fear the Hall of Souls, the Heaven Demon Phoenix Tribe did not. As long as no true life-and-death feud arose, it was fine. And if the benefits were great enough, even a feud wouldn’t matter.

”Hahaha! Indeed!” Venerable Lei joined in. ”The Hall of Souls may be mighty, but if we unite, we represent half the top powers of the Central Plains. Capturing one Mu Gu will be as easy as turning over a hand!”

Seated at the head, Liu Xi blinked in mild surprise. Everyone had suddenly begun volunteering to hunt down Mu Gu for him—as if staging a grand declaration of loyalty.

’Not bad,’ he thought with amusement. ’So this is what real influence feels like.’

He realized now that he had ties with nearly half of the Central Plains’ peak factions—and could even sway their leaders to act in his favor.

Smiling, Liu Xi cupped his fists toward the elegant and mature Valley Master Luo. ”My thanks for your concern, Valley Master Luo.”

Then, turning to Valley Master Tang and Venerable Lei, he said with a faint smile, ”I appreciate everyone’s kindness. But as for revenge—nothing is more satisfying than settling it with my own hands. I’ve already chosen Mu Gu’s burial place. The next time we meet will be the day I cut him down myself.”

”Oh?” Valley Master Luo’s beautiful face revealed a flicker of surprise, quickly followed by admiration. ”So be it, then. A man should take vengeance with his own blade. Since Master Liu has such resolve, I won’t interfere further. But should you ever require assistance, both Sound Valley and I shall stand behind you—to repay the debt of saving my life.”

Valley Master Tang smiled and added, ”The same goes for Burning Flame Valley. You saved my daughter’s life, Master Liu. If you ever need support, you’ll have my full backing.”

He still owed Liu Xi a great favor—and besides, Liu Xi’s future was limitless. Even now, his seat among the Pill Tower’s Giants was practically secured. The more they invested early, the greater the reward later.

Feeling slightly pressured, Venerable Lei quickly followed suit, fearing to fall behind. ”Wind Lightning Pavilion stands with Master Liu as well. We’ll always be on your side.”

Liu Xi couldn’t help but laugh. Somehow this gathering had turned into a ”loyalty conference.” Still, he didn’t mind—the more power behind him, the better.

Half a day later, a Pill Tower elder arrived with a message from Association Head Xuan Kongzi, inviting Liu Xi to meet him and discuss the upcoming attempt to subdue the Three Thousand Burning Flame. This was a matter of great importance—one that required careful preparation.

The three Valley Masters, seeing this, politely excused themselves but extended warm invitations for Liu Xi to visit their sects sometime soon.

After sending them off, Liu Xi exchanged a few brief words with Xiao Yixian and Yao Tianhuo, then followed the elder toward Xuan Kongzi’s residence.

The elder, a man of about 35 or 36, looked at Liu Xi with deep respect, his tone filled with flattery as they conversed along the way. And it wasn’t just him—every Pill Tower member they passed greeted Liu Xi with similar reverence.

Liu Xi understood why. First, he was now the Pill Gathering champion and the chosen successor of the Pill Tower’s Giants. Second, he had reclaimed the Pill Tower’s honor by defeating the Hall of Souls and taking back their lost glory.

Having pieced it all together, Liu Xi simply smiled. ’I’ve worked for it. Now—it’s time to enjoy what I’ve earned.’
