BTTH: Rebirth of Liu Xi

The eastern depths of the Magic Beast Mountain Range were truly a land devoid of human presence. Here, the Amethyst Winged Lion King, a 6th Rank Magical Beast, reigned supreme — the undisputed ruler of this vast territory.

And today, Liu Xi had come precisely to find it.

A streak of azure light tore across the sky, leaving behind a roaring wind that forced the towering trees below to bend low, forming a deep furrow in its wake. The surging aura of a Dou Wang swept through the forest, making countless beasts tremble in fear.

The smarter ones — those above the 3rd Rank — hid themselves deep underground or beneath thick canopies, pretending not to have sensed the passing predator. In this domain, survival meant knowing when to disappear.

After obtaining the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame Fragment Map, Liu Xi had rested briefly in a peaceful valley. Then, without hesitation, he ventured deeper into the mountain range.

Unlike the treasure cave that required luck to locate, finding the Amethyst Winged Lion King was far simpler — one only needed to fly toward the heart of the range.

As the fierce wind howled past his ears, Liu Xi narrowed his eyes, releasing his Spiritual Power to probe the surroundings.

Soon, he sensed four powerful beastly auras. Among them, one stood far above the rest — majestic, tyrannical, and brimming with overwhelming might. That was undoubtedly the Amethyst Winged Lion King itself.

Liu Xi made no attempt to conceal his presence. The moment he detected the lion’s aura, the lion, too, sensed his — a human Dou Wang entering its domain.

He stopped midair, the azure light fading as his figure materialized against the golden sky. He waited quietly.

Suddenly, the heavens were bathed in violet radiance.

A thunderous gust erupted as a gigantic purple silhouette emerged — a beast nearly eight meters long, its body encased in crystalline scales that shimmered like amethyst under the sun.

Its head was that of a ferocious lion, scarlet eyes burning with a strange violet hue. A single crimson spiral horn jutted from its brow, surrounded by flickering violet flames. Massive wings sprouted from its sides, each feather glimmering like polished crystal.

The beast’s blood-red eyes narrowed with mockery as its booming voice shook the air. ”Human… you are bold indeed. A mere Dou Wang, daring to trespass into my territory?”

Liu Xi’s expression remained calm. ”Though my cultivation is only that of a Dou Wang,” he replied evenly, ”I am also a 6th Tier Alchemist. I believe a mighty being such as the Lion King wouldn’t wish to harm me.”

The Amethyst Winged Lion King sneered. ”Human alchemists of high rank are fragile creatures. Do you take me for a fool? You think I’ll believe a 6th Tier Alchemist would personally enter such a perilous place?”

Its violet flames flared, licking the air, yet it held back — wary of a possible trap.

Liu Xi smiled faintly, taking advantage of the pause. ”The truth remains. I’ve come to request one thing — a piece of your Purple Spirit Crystal. Name your price. I can offer any 6th Tier pill in exchange.”

The lion’s mouth curled into a grin, its tone dripping with mockery. ”You want my Spirit Crystal? Very well… give me a Body Transformation Pill.”

Liu Xi frowned. ”Surely you jest. That’s a 7th Tier Pill — beyond my current reach. I can only refine up to 6th Tier.”

”Hah!” The Lion King laughed coldly. ”Then you’re the one joking with me! It takes twenty years for a single shard of Purple Spirit Crystal to shed from my body. Do you think I’d trade it for a mere 6th Tier pill? Even if you truly were a 6th Tier Alchemist, it would still be beneath its worth!”

Liu Xi chuckled softly. ”Then it seems we have no deal.”

”Oh?” The lion’s voice rumbled like thunder. ”You, a small Dou Wang, mean to fight me?”

Liu Xi’s grin turned wicked. ”Fight you? Of course not. A 6th Rank Magical Beast like you rivals a Dou Huang—I wouldn’t dare. But tell me…” His tone grew light and cutting. ”…is your cub also a 6th Rank beast?”

The Amethyst Winged Lion King froze, then its blood-red eyes flared with murderous fury. ”You dare—!” it roared, flames bursting forth like a volcano’s wrath.

A column of violet fire surged skyward, swallowing the air in heat and destruction.

But Liu Xi did not move. The flames tore through his body — only for his form to ripple and vanish into mist.

It had merely been an illusion.

While the enraged lion incinerated the skies, the real Liu Xi had already infiltrated its lair.

He had never intended to bargain — both the Purple Spirit Crystal and the Amethyst Lion Birth Essence were his true targets.

Silently, he slipped past six patrolling 3rd Rank Magical Beasts, entering the depths of the crystalline cavern.

The inner walls glittered with embedded violet crystals, beautiful yet of little true value.

Ignoring the scenery, Liu Xi advanced swiftly until he reached a branching tunnel.

Turning right, he continued until the walls became entirely sheathed in amethyst — a dazzling violet radiance filling the chamber.

A faint growl echoed. A small Amethyst Winged Lion Cub bared its fangs, trying to appear fierce. But the sight was more adorable than threatening.

Liu Xi extended a single hand, and with effortless force, subdued the cub.

”Still a 3rd Rank Magical Beast,” he murmured. ”Cute, but hardly dangerous.”

Releasing his Spiritual Power, Liu Xi scanned the chamber until he sensed a powerful energy pulse beneath the floor. He lifted a slab of stone — and there it was: a jagged, fist-sized crystal glowing with brilliant violet light.

The Purple Spirit Crystal.

A smile spread across his face. He pocketed the crystal — but the cub, enraged, lunged forward with a high-pitched roar.

”Grr—rr!”

Liu Xi waved his hand. Azure Dou Qi surged outward, forming a translucent hand that seized the cub midair.

”You’re my insurance,” he said with a grin. ”You’ll help me get out of here safely.”

As he spoke, a deafening roar erupted from outside.

The Lion King had returned.

Without hesitation, Liu Xi darted down the opposite tunnel, the struggling cub in tow.

Soon he arrived at another chamber, its floor and ceiling glistening with dense layers of violet crystal.

At the center stood a stone pedestal, upon which rested a spherical object — a pulsating orb of violet essence.

The Amethyst Lion Birth Essence.

Without delay, Liu Xi retrieved the Spirit Crystal and a prepared jade bottle. Raising the crystal high, he struck the orb sharply—

Crack!

The sphere shattered, spilling luminescent violet liquid. Liu Xi hurriedly collected every drop.

Even after gathering it all, the jade bottle was only half full.

Satisfied, he stored both treasures, then looked toward the furious cub still gripped in his energy hand.

”Taking your mother’s treasure, I owe you at least a gift in return,” he said softly.

He raised his palm. A faint azure flame — the Green Lotus Core Flame — blossomed upon it.

Under the cub’s terrified gaze, Liu Xi guided the flame gently into its body.

The little beast writhed and howled in pain, its body trembling as azure light and violet aura intertwined.

”Endure it,” Liu Xi murmured, his eyes calm. ”When you awaken, you’ll thank me.”
