BTTH: Rebirth of Liu Xi

Brilliant seven-colored light burst from the glowing bead between Liu Xi’s brows, flooding the entire room in resplendent hues. The rays painted both him and the surrounding walls in a dreamlike rainbow glow.

Seated cross-legged atop the Green Lotus Platform, Liu Xi’s soul was undergoing a wondrous transformation. As his Spiritual Power surged, seven distinct emotions — joy, anger, sorrow, fear, love, hatred, and desire — erupted violently within him.

Inside his consciousness, those emotions collided and expanded like raging tides. Never before had Liu Xi experienced such turmoil. Waves of great joy, great fury, great sorrow, great fear, great love, great hatred, and great desire surged through his heart, one after another, tearing his soul apart. The pain was overwhelming, beyond what words could describe.

It felt as if his soul had been split into seven fragments — each dominated by one pure, extreme emotion. Those emotions evolved into seven distinct wills, seven minds, seven selves. Each personality clashed with the others, consuming and devouring in turn, striving to destroy all but itself.

Yet emotion also breeds strength. With every clash, every violent collision between his fragmented selves, Liu Xi’s power swelled higher — not weakening under the turmoil but growing fiercer. The seven selves fought relentlessly, their boundaries blurring as bits of each personality’s will merged into the others.

As their powers soared without limit, the distinctions between them began to fade. What had once been seven raging flames slowly became one — converging back toward the origin from which they had been divided.

When the seven fragments finally began to merge, it felt as natural as water returning to the sea. Their reunion brought a tremendous surge — Liu Xi’s Spiritual Power multiplied severalfold as the fragments fused into one complete soul.

But just as the fifth fragment merged, his progress struck a barrier. It wasn’t hard or solid — rather, it was resilient, endlessly elastic. Every time his spirit struck against it, the force was reflected back, frustratingly out of reach.

Even when all seven fragments fully rejoined, that invisible wall remained. Liu Xi’s soul grew deeper, denser, and more refined, yet he could not break through. He had reached the peak of the Mortal Realm, but not yet the Spirit Realm.

Outside, the crescent moon hung high over the Jia Ma Sacred City.

The seven-colored bead between Liu Xi’s brows had vanished, leaving him seated quietly on the Green Lotus Platform. Gentle azure light shimmered from the lotus petals, wrapping him in a tranquil aura.

Then — boom! — an invisible shockwave rippled out from him. The wave carried no sound, yet space itself seemed to tremble. Rings of ethereal ripples spread outward like waves in still water, radiating across the entire sky.

The soul wave swept through the city, unseen yet overwhelming, enveloping all of Jia Ma Sacred City beneath its invisible canopy.

To ordinary people, the change went unnoticed. But Alchemists above the 4th Tier, and experts beyond the Dou Wang realm, felt it instantly — a suffocating, awe-inspiring presence pressing upon their souls.

Such vast Spiritual Power… it rolled across the heavens like a storm. Compared to it, their own souls felt as fragile as paper. Cold sweat beaded on foreheads; fear crept silently into their hearts.

Fortunately, the wave vanished as swiftly as it appeared. Within moments, the oppressive sensation dispersed, leaving only stillness — yet those who felt it were left shaken and uneasy.

Among them were Jia Xingtian, President Fa Ma, and Miteer Tangshan — three of the empire’s powerhouses. Though their status placed them at the pinnacle of Jia Ma, their expressions were grim. For such an immense Spiritual Power to appear right under their noses… it was both shocking and alarming.

They didn’t need to guess long. Even the battle-obsessed Mu Chen could piece it together. If this aura didn’t belong to some unknown deity-like being… then there was only one man who could possess such a terrifying soul — Liu Xi.

Without hesitation, the aged figures rose into the night sky, Dou Qi wings flaring, racing toward Liu Xi’s location under the pale glow of the moon.

Inside the quiet courtyard, Liu Xi slowly drew back his Spiritual Power, his consciousness returning from the brink.

His long lashes fluttered. When his eyes opened, the once-vivid brightness within them was replaced by a calm, profound stillness — tranquil, detached, carrying faint traces of age-old fatigue.

No joy. No sorrow. No desire. No fear.

’So this is the peak of the Mortal Realm,’ he thought quietly. ’Even something worth celebrating feels… distant.’

He stood, stepping down from the Green Lotus Platform. With a thought, his Spiritual Power surged once more — his robe rippling in the invisible breeze of his aura. A strange sense of wholeness spread through him, smooth and harmonious like flowing water.

Through his refined soul perception, he saw beyond the walls of his room. Outside the courtyard stood Master Xuan Hao, Hai Bodong, Lu Man, and Qing Lin, all gathered anxiously — no doubt alarmed by the sudden eruption of his Spiritual Power.

Farther away, several powerful auras were approaching swiftly — the familiar presences of Jia Xingtian and the others closing in fast.

Liu Xi exhaled softly and withdrew his senses. With a flick of his hand, the Green Lotus Platform vanished back into his storage ring. He then walked calmly out of his chamber.

---

Stepping into the courtyard, he was met with four pairs of anxious eyes.

”My soul power just experienced some growth,” he said lightly. ”Sorry to make you all worry.”

Xuan Hao’s face broke into a wide smile. ”Haha, I was just about to tell you some good news myself — but it seems my disciple has beaten me to it!”

Hai Bodong studied Liu Xi closely, a look of awe in his eyes. ”Every time I see you, you’ve made another impossible leap forward. You truly put us old men to shame.”

Lu Man’s gaze lingered on him, her voice soft yet tinged with curiosity. ”I heard that soul power is divided into realms. May I ask, sir, which realm your soul has reached now?”

Liu Xi paused for a moment, then replied evenly, ”It’s nothing too grand. I’ve merely reached the peak of the Mortal Realm.”

Lu Man’s beautiful eyes widened slightly. As a Dou Huang of the Sky Serpent Mansion, she knew what that meant. Her breath caught. ”According to ancient records, refining a 7th Tier pill requires a soul at the peak of the Mortal Realm. Once a soul ascends to the Spirit Realm, one can imbue pills with life, creating 8th Tier elixirs. Then… doesn’t that mean, sir, you’re already… a 7th Tier Alchemist?”

”7th Tier Alchemist…”

The words echoed through the courtyard. Both Xuan Hao and Hai Bodong gasped in shock.

A 7th Tier Alchemist — such a figure had never appeared in the history of the Jia Ma Empire. Even the empire’s highest authorities had only heard of such beings through ancient records.

Liu Xi smiled faintly and shook his head. ”Not yet. Refining a 7th Tier pill is no easy task. I’ve only stabilized myself as a 6th Tier Alchemist for now… but the gate to the next realm has already opened.”

His tone was calm, yet those words alone carried weight enough to make hearts tremble.

There was no reason for him to hide his strength. A 6th Tier Alchemist could already make even a Dou Huang wary, but a future 7th Tier Alchemist? Even a Dou Zong would tread carefully around him.

Liu Xi glanced briefly at Lu Man — he understood her intentions well enough. Having her beside him meant crossing paths with the Sky Serpent Mansion’s higher powers someday. If that day came, he would need status and strength equal to theirs.

And now, with his soul standing at the peak of the Mortal Realm… that day no longer felt far away.
