Ghost Catching System

Someone asked Gu Yan what had just happened.

Gu Yan frowned and said, ”This star is one I experienced in my past life. It has been recorded and bound to me.”

A star, bound to him?

The Netherworld People sat cross-legged, and also reflected a star. They all passed.

The Tao Clan Saintess also reflected a star.

The strong ones of this era, such as Yan Zhongtian, also passed to the second level.

When it was Qi Tian’s turn, he sat cross-legged, channeling the Yang Energy within him to his Heavenly Spirit Aperture. After a moment, two stars on the Star River Map began to flicker.

”Two stars?” The crowd was astonished.

Now, only Chu Hao and Shang Yingdie were left.

Shang Yingdie sat cross-legged, her delicate facial features and graceful figure resembling a continuous range of rosy peaks, truly stunning.

Her appearance was breathtaking, a rare natural beauty that made the men present deeply moved. Young Overlord Yan Zhongtian looked at her impatiently, deciding to have a good chat after the Emperor’s Gate test to enhance their relationship.

After Shang Yingdie channeled her Yang Energy, three stars above her head flickered, one more than Qi Tian, leaving the crowd shocked.

”Three stars?” Gu Yan exclaimed in surprise.

The Old Man with Long Eyebrows smiled and said, ”The Eight Trigrams Star River Map can recognize both the future and the past. It can also assess a person’s talent and potential. The young lady has strong talent and potential, and she will surely have her rightful place in the future.”

Emperor Shun was very pleased and nodded, saying, ”Approved.”

Emperor Shun, hands behind his back, explained, ”Actually, I’m waiting for the real successor to appear. Passing the second level indicates you have sufficient strength. Reflecting stars is important as it represents your future prospects and potential.”

The crowd was shocked. If that was the case, didn’t it mean only Qi Tian and Shang Yingdie were qualified?

Qi Tian said with a complex expression, ”Congratulations, Yingdie.”

Others also offered their congratulations, with some feeling envious. Shang Yingdie nodded slightly.

Shang Yingdie asked, ”Sir, historically, what is the maximum number of stars that can be reflected?”

Everyone looked at Emperor Shun.

Emperor Shun replied with a smile, ”The highest? To reflect all the stars.”

The crowd was astounded. Reflecting one or two stars was already impressive, yet someone could reflect all the stars. Who could this person be?

Emperor Shun said, ”He is the ancestor Emperor of Mankind, Suiren Clan.”

Suiren Clan?

This was truly the original Emperor of Mankind, the ancestor of humans.

”The Eight Trigrams Star River Map was also discovered by the Suiren Clan,” Emperor Shun said.

The crowd was even more impressed and affirmed the abilities of the Eight Trigrams Star River Map.

Finally, it was Chu Hao’s turn. He sat down and channeled his Yang Energy to the Heavenly Spirit Aperture.

However, after waiting for a long time, no star reflected on him. Chu Hao was a bit surprised. Could it be that he really lacked talent?

Qi Tian coldly remarked, ”As I expected, no one from later generations meets the requirements of the Emperor’s Gate. Too weak.”

Indeed, apart from Chu Hao, none from the later generations passed the Emperor’s Gate. It was thought that Chu Hao had good talent, and reflecting even one star would be impressive, but he failed to reflect a single star, leading to disrespect.

Others felt the same. Even Gu Yan, who had initially shown interest in Chu Hao, shook his head in disappointment.

Saintess Lin of the Tao Clan was also helpless. The Eight Trigrams Star River Map had an unprecedented ability to test a person’s skills and talent, but Chu Hao didn’t show such abilities, making her previous high hopes for him prove futile.

Neither did Lin believe Chu Hao had the ability to learn the Yin Yang True Solution, which would waste the exceptional Yin-Yang Techniques.

Chu Hao was very upset and said, ”How can you be so sure that I can’t reflect a star?”

Qi Tian crossed his arms and said with utmost disdain, ”Then reflect one and show me.”

The Old Man with Long Eyebrows also expressed regret. Chu Hao had shown strong talent before, but failing to reflect a star was truly unfortunate.

Even Emperor Shun shook his head.

Since obtaining the System, Chu Hao had never been looked down upon. This was the first time he felt a sense of defeat.

Unwilling to accept defeat, he continued to channel his Yang Energy.

Still, he did not succeed.

Emperor Shun glanced at Chu Hao, then looked away, saying, ”Qi Tian, Gu Yan, Wang Shuyu, Yan Zhongtian, Lin...would you be willing to become my registered students?”

The crowd was ecstatic and respectfully replied, ”We are willing.”

Then, Emperor Shun looked at Shang Yingdie and said, ”Would you be willing to become my successor?”

Shang Yingdie nodded slightly and said, ”I am willing.”

There was no mention of Chu Hao, indicating that he had been given up on.

Chu Hao stood up, a bit grim-faced. This was the first time he had encountered such a situation, and he asked, ”So does that mean I can’t become a Grand Scholar?”

The Old Man with Long Eyebrows shook his head and said, ”I’m afraid not, unless you can gain recognition from the Eight Great Academies outside to prove yourself.”

Chu Hao nodded quietly and turned away to leave, his back looking somewhat desolate.

This was his first setback since obtaining the System, and he felt very downhearted.

After Chu Hao left.

Emperor Shun said, ”Follow me.”

”Yes.”

Everyone left, and the Emperor’s Gate was once again sealed, as this test had concluded.

After everyone had left, in the now empty pavilion, a star on the Eight Trigrams Star River Map suddenly flickered!

Not only that, but the stars surrounding the first one also began to flicker. After a few seconds, all the stars on the Eight Trigrams Star River Map were fully illuminated, creating a breathtaking scene.

No one knew this had happened.

...

After exiting the Emperor’s Gate, Chu Hao was met by An An, Yang Min’er, and others.

An An eagerly asked, ”Young Master, did you succeed?”

Chu Hao shook his head and said, ”No.”

”Ah!” An An was disappointed and felt a sense of loss for the young master.

Chu Hao patted her on the head and said, ”Don’t worry. Even if the Emperor’s Gate didn’t work out, I have other ways.”

An An asked, ”What ways?”

Recalling what had occurred at the Emperor’s Gate, Chu Hao smirked and said, ”If I can’t reflect a star, they dismiss my abilities. This so-called Emperor’s Gate is nothing much.”

Everyone exchanged looks, realizing that Chu Hao must have experienced some setback up there.

Chu Hao said to the disciples of Bei Ling Academy, ”I want to challenge all the masters from the Eight Great Academies. Lead the way.”

The Bei Ling Academy disciples were at a loss, saying, ”Really, really going?”

”Of course.”

Soon, the six Grand Scholar slots were announced, with Shang Yingdie, Qi Tian, Gu Yan, Yan Zhongtian, Lin, and Wang Shuyu taking them.

Five became registered students of Emperor Shun, with Shang Yingdie even being chosen as his successor!

The news shook the entire Holy City, whether outsiders or the ghosts of Qi Tian’s era.

”Didn’t Chu Hao attempt the Emperor’s Gate? Didn’t he succeed?”

”Terrifying, this is the strength of our ancestors. I heard the Longhu Mountain Taoist Master Zhang Guanyi failed at even the first level.”

”None of our modern Yin Yang Masters succeeded. What kind of Emperor’s Gate is this? It’s terrifying.”

People outside were desolate, realizing not a single modern Yin Yang Person succeeded. Is the gap between eras really that vast?
