Ghost Catching System

Chu Hao spotted a huge bottle adorned with blue-and-white porcelain, an invaluable treasure. He even saw a suit of golden armor, its craftsmanship incredibly exquisite.

If tomb robbers broke in here, they would probably go crazy, right?

The Ghost Madam’s voice trembled. ”The Great King is inside. I... I dare not enter.”

Chu Hao said, ”Cut the crap. Otherwise, this Taoist Master will scatter your soul right now.”

The Ghost Madam shivered and could only continue to lead the way.

After passing through the main hall and walking for about three to four minutes, they finally saw a secret chamber.

The Black Water Ghost King’s coffin was inside this secret chamber. At that moment, a roar echoed from its depths, ”Ghost Sutras, you’re not keeping your word!”

Chu Hao and the toad jolted; they had finally found him.

In the vast secret chamber, the Black Water Ghost King’s face was deathly pale. He pointed at a skull on the table, saying furiously, ”This King wants to learn the true Ghost Sutras! Are you going to give them to me or not?”

Two greenish glows flickered within the skull’s eye sockets as an ancient voice emanated from it, ”A sacrifice is needed to unlock the key points of the Ghost Sutras.”

The Black Water Ghost King shouted angrily, ”The entire outside world is searching for this King, and you’re asking me to find sacrifices? Where am I supposed to find so many?”

”Your Resentful Ghost Army will suffice. You win some, you lose some. Think it over,” said the skull.

The Black Water Ghost King seemed to be negotiating some deal with the Ghost Sutras, hesitating for a long time.

He finally burst out in a fit of rage, ”The Resentful Ghost Army is indispensable! Without them, Ghost King Valley would become an empty shell! You want me to go out and kill people? Isn’t that sending me to my death? We’re talking about hundreds of thousands of lives, flesh and souls! If I were to truly slaughter them all, it would incite the wrath of both gods and men! This King definitely wouldn’t live long after that!”

The skull, however, merely repeated, ”I am only responsible for imparting the Ghost Sutras. Your words are pointless. Make your own choice.”

The Black Water Ghost King cursed under his breath. Gritting his teeth, he said, ”Fine! There are three hundred thousand people in the county town outside Ghost King Valley. If I kill them all, will I obtain the true Ghost Sutras?”

”Possibly.”

Upon hearing this, Chu Hao was utterly shocked. To learn the true Ghost Sutras, one would actually have to kill three hundred thousand people!

Chu Hao’s face darkened. This was no longer a matter of fearing death. If he stood by and watched the Black Water Ghost King massacre three hundred thousand people, Chu Hao would be tormented by guilt for the rest of his life.

I’ll be the one to finish you. Chu Hao thought fiercely.

”Act now!” Chu Hao ordered.

The toad took the lead, charging into the secret chamber. Its body instantly swelled, like a rapidly inflating balloon, until it was the size of a person.

The toad opened its great mouth and spat out a viscous substance that, at first glance, looked like saliva.

This glob of green saliva caught the Ghost King off guard, slamming him against the wall. The sticky green saliva actually glued the Ghost King to the wall, immobilizing him for the time being.

The toad said smugly, ”This is the true power of this Sovereign’s Immortal Water!”

You’re proud of spitting?

Chu Hao was involuntarily stunned. Could the toad’s saliva really be used this way?

The Black Water Ghost King was livid. Engrossed in his conversation with the Ghost Sutras, his attention had been solely focused on it. He hadn’t expected his stronghold to be invaded and to be stuck to a wall by a glob of spit. Seriously, that’s utterly disgusting.

Seeing Chu Hao and the toad, the Black Water Ghost King became even more incensed, bellowing, ”Ghost Sutras, give me a hundred Black Ghosts, and I’ll trade you five thousand from my Resentful Ghost Army!”

The skull spoke haughtily, ”The Ghost Sutras operate on principles. You must let me devour the offering first, only then can I provide the Black Ghosts.”

Damn it!

The Black Water Ghost King felt like he was about to vomit blood. The principles of this Ghost Sutras were too damn rigid! Unless he offered something first, it wouldn’t provide the Black Ghosts. It strictly adhered to ’payment before delivery’!

So this skull is the Ghost Sutras? Chu Hao was inwardly amused. He wondered how Bai Ling had actually become its master.

Seeing his chance, he decided it was time to reveal the Jade Bone. ”Ghost Sutras, take a look at this!”

The skull’s two eerie green glows focused on the Jade Bone in Chu Hao’s hand. It paused for a second, then exclaimed, ”Master!”

In its entire existence, the Ghost Sutras had only ever had one master. Anyone else who obtained it, be they human, demon, or ghost, had to engage in a fair trade. Just like the Black Water Ghost King: if he wanted to obtain the true Ghost Sutras, he had to kill three hundred thousand people, exchanging their flesh and souls.

Hearing the Ghost Sutras cry out ”Master!”, everyone present, whether it was the toad or the Black Water Ghost King, was utterly astonished.

Chu Hao said coldly, ”So you still remember you have a Master? Planning to kill three hundred thousand people, you’ve got quite some nerve.”

The skull clearly wasn’t falling for it. ”You are not my Master. Where is my Master?” it retorted.

The excitement emanating from the skull was palpable. Its green light intensified, becoming even more terrifying and plunging the entire secret chamber into a bone-chilling cold.

Chu Hao put away the Jade Bone and said, ”I know where she is. Follow me.”

”Alright.” The skull agreed without a second thought.

At this moment, the Black Water Ghost King exploded with rage. ”Living human, I’ll tear you apart!” he roared.

The Black Water Ghost King was over two meters tall and wore a yellow robe, carrying himself like an emperor. He released his remaining Black Ghosts, about ten of them.

In fact, the Black Water Ghost King was extremely frustrated. First, the toad had devoured many of his Black Ghosts, and then Chu Hao’s Greenwood Flame Fan had burned many more. These were all he had left.

About ten flying-skull Black Ghosts swirled around them.

Chu Hao immediately said, ”Toad, swallow them quickly!”

The toad cursed, ”I can’t swallow anymore! Do you think this Sovereign is a Glutton?”

Chu Hao hastily said, ”Ghost Sutras, these are your Black Ghosts! Take them back, quickly!”

However, the skull replied, sticking to its principles, ”A deal is a deal and cannot be rescinded. I have my principles.”

I’m so angry I want to kick it away! Chu Hao fumed internally.

Left with no other choice, Chu Hao could only draw his Greenwood Flame Fan and wave it directly at the flying-skull Black Ghosts.

”DING! Host has used Greenwood Flame, expending twenty thousand Mana Points.”

With a wave of the fan, a torrent of roaring green flames erupted before him, the terrifying blaze engulfing the entire secret chamber.

The foremost flying-skull Black Ghosts were instantly incinerated, leaving only about one remaining.

However, this last one was still terrifying and flew straight at Chu Hao.

Instantly, Chu Hao felt his Yang Qi being rapidly drained. Within a mere second, he felt incredibly weak.

”PTOOEY!”

In its haste, the toad spat out another mouthful of green saliva, knocking the Black Ghost flying-skull away from Chu Hao.

Chu Hao seized the chance and brought his Ritian Stick down hard. The Black Ghost flying-skull was smashed into the stone wall of the secret chamber, unable to emerge.

Chu Hao heaved a sigh of relief. He felt extraordinarily weak, only now realizing just how terrifyingly powerful that Black Ghost flying-skull had been. He had nearly been done for.

Suddenly, the entire ancient tomb shook. Chu Hao was startled.

The Black Water Ghost King struggled to break free. He roared madly, and the entire ancient tomb began to shake along with his struggles.

”PTOOEY!”

The toad spat out another mouthful of green saliva onto the Ghost King. This batch was even stickier, trapping the pitiful Ghost King to the wall like a fly.
