Ghost Catching System

Su Muyue and Little Ying arrived. Both women climbed along the ancient vines, avoiding the pursuit of the Ghost Generals and Soldiers.

”Climb down quickly!”

Chu Hao climbed to the opposite side, concealed himself behind the vines, and secretly used his Ghost Eye Ring’s abilities to observe with enhanced vision.

Soon, people appeared. Besides the He Family, who were the first to arrive, there were also some unfamiliar faces, including the foreigners from the earlier gunfight.

Chu Hao narrowed his eyes. He saw Yan Chen.

He came too.

A cold smile touched the corners of Chu Hao’s mouth.

With his long-range vision, Chu Hao spotted someone deep within the tomb passage. The person was dressed in black leather with their face covered, engaged in fierce combat with a Ghost Samurai. Neither side seemed to outmatch the other.

Chu Hao was surprised. He was well aware of the Ghost Samurai’s strength; it was astonishing that someone besides himself could contend with them.

Beyond that, there was another group: a towering man, easily two meters tall, his body brimming with power; a petite woman; and a middle-aged uncle. These three, working together, were also capable of dealing with the Ghost Wu Jiang in the tomb passage.

Furthermore, Yan Chen and Yan Furong together could handle a Ghost Military General.

These three groups successfully captured Chu Hao’s attention.

There’s always someone better out there; some people are truly formidable.

Those climbing the vines finally noticed the large tree below, and someone exclaimed, ”There’s a huge tree down there!”

”Get down quickly, that thing is catching up!”

More and more people began to climb down the cliffs. Chu Hao also prepared to descend. His objective was clear: first, deal with Yan Chen. He found that silver-haired, non-conformist type particularly irksome, especially after letting him escape last time.

The Ghost Generals and Soldiers halted their pursuit at the cliff’s edge, remaining on horseback, guarding the entrance to the tomb passage.

Were they deliberately driving everyone toward the abyss below?

More people climbed downwards.

Above the abyss, streaks of moonlight seeped through crevasses in the rock, faintly illuminating the blurry shadow of the colossal tree below.

As Chu Hao climbed, something grabbed his wrist. It felt like the cold hand of a corpse, startling him.

Looking up, he realized it was just a vine that had seized his hand.

These vines are actually alive?

Chu Hao yanked hard. His great strength tore the vine away; it couldn’t entangle him.

”A mere vine trying to bind this Taoist Master?” Chu Hao sneered.

However, no sooner had his words fallen than a vine as thick as the mouth of a bowl, as if offended, wrapped around his waist.

It really is a Tree Demon!

Chu Hao felt the tremendous strength of the vine squeezing the breath out of him. He had no choice but to draw his Night Demon Blade and sever it.

This time, the bowl-thick vine actually bled!

Chu Hao stared in amazement. ”Holy shit! It really is a Tree Demon!”

SWISH! SWISH!

As if enraged, countless vines writhed densely and slithered towards Chu Hao like a horde of snakes.

Chu Hao hacked away for a while but realized it was a never-ending task. He had no idea how many vines covered the abyss walls; he could probably hack for a year and not be done.

A true hero doesn’t pick a fight with a Tree Demon. Time to retreat. Chu Hao activated his Qinggong, stepping on the vines and rapidly climbing down.

He moved very fast, but the vines, as if locked onto him, began to roll up en masse, like a tidal wave chasing him.

Below, Su Muyue and the others were climbing at a much slower pace, lacking Chu Hao’s Qinggong.

Chu Hao glanced back. The vines would soon envelop everyone. He pondered for a moment and decided to save Su Muyue. Throughout their journey, she was the only one for whom he felt some fondness. As for the others, he couldn’t care less if they lived or died.

Executing a water-skimming maneuver with his Qinggong, Chu Hao flew down and landed in front of Su Muyue. His arm wrapped around her waist—it was delicate, soft, and without an ounce of excess fat.

A startled cry escaped her as a dagger thrust ruthlessly towards him.

Chu Hao grabbed her wrist. ”It’s me, Chu Hao.”

Su Muyue was stunned. Before she could react, Chu Hao, still holding her waist, leaped downward with her.

”Ah!” Su Muyue screamed.

Zuo Lingyun was greatly shocked, initially thinking Su Muyue was in trouble. Then he saw Chu Hao embracing her, one detestable, roving hand gripping her breast while the other latched onto a vine, his dashing figure descending elegantly.

”Chu Hao!?” Zuo Lingyun was furious. That bastard is taking advantage of my woman again! If I ever get cuckolded, it’ll definitely be Chu Hao’s doing!

”The vines have come alive! Run quickly!” alarmed cries erupted from the crowd. The vines had fully awakened and were writhing like surging waves, crazily pouncing upon detecting human presence.

”AH!” Amid screams, someone was ensnared by a vine and strangled to death.

Others had vines snake into their ears and noses, suffocating them.

Those without skill or power were doomed. Screams echoed continuously, and some, in sheer desperation, leaped into the abyss, abandoning their fate to chance.

With one arm around Su Muyue, Chu Hao found she felt incredibly light; she weighed 110 jin at most (approximately 55 kilograms or 121 pounds). Like Tarzan in a primordial forest, he swung from vine to vine without pause. The pursuing tendrils stood no chance of catching him.

After a minute of descent, they finally neared the large tree below. His agile Qinggong allowed him to land steadily on a sturdy branch.

Looking up, he saw that quite a few capable individuals had adopted his method. The others were likely facing disaster.

Su Muyue asked frantically, ”Chu Hao, what about Little Ying and Third Master and the others?”

Chu Hao waved his hand dismissively. ”What can be done? Life and death are preordained; wealth and honor are in heaven’s hands. Since they chose to come, they should have been prepared to be buried here. Do they really think King Chu’s Tomb is so easy to enter?”

Su Muyue sighed. The dangers of this adventure far exceeded her imagination. As Chu Hao had said, life and death, riches and honor, were all in the hands of fate.

Chu Hao looked at her. ”Why did you come here?”

In the darkness, Su Muyue couldn’t see Chu Hao’s face clearly, but his piercing eyes felt like cold hands enveloping her. She replied, ”It is said that powerful Eight Trigrams Metaphysics are buried within King Chu’s Tomb. I want to find it.”

Chu Hao nodded slightly. ”Let’s go.”

Su Muyue then asked, ”What about you? Why did you come here and open King Chu’s Tomb?”

”To release the soul of an ancestor.”

「...」

Many people were destined to be eternally entombed in this abyss, their souls never to achieve reincarnation.

The tree was enormous, its species unclear. It emitted a faint scent of blood. In the nooks and crannies of the tree, one could see various bones, both human and animal.

This tree is no Tree Demon. If I’m wrong, I’ll broadcast myself taking it down.

In the darkness, Chu Hao’s vision was unimpaired. Even from a great distance, he could see coffins placed on the tree.

Coffins on a tree? Whoever came up with that was certainly creative.

There wasn’t just one coffin; many were placed in various spots on the large tree.

BANG!

A person who had been climbing above suddenly fell, smashing right onto a coffin, and was left barely alive on impact.

It was a foreigner. He coughed up blood, clearly having taken a severe hit, yet fortunate to have survived.

However, Chu Hao saw the lid of the coffin next to the injured man move slightly. A wisp of blue-green Ghost Qi smoke drifted out and was inhaled by the foreigner.

The foreigner trembled uncontrollably and soon fell silent. But after a moment, he abruptly sat up, twisting his body. As if fully revived with all his strength restored?

Chu Hao was astonished.
