Fated To Three, And I Broke Them All

Verity:

When he heard me, he set the aid kit down and placed his hands on his waist, tilting his head.

”What the fuck does that even mean?” he demanded, lifting his chin like he was some all-powerful alpha king.

”Well, you’re not—” I paused and bit my tongue.

I was about to take a huge gamble.

It could land me in huge trouble.

”Speak,” he ordered, his jaw clenching.

”You’re not a fair alpha king.”

The minute those words left my mouth, I watched his fingers curl around the hem of his shirt at his waist.

”And what injustice have I done?” he asked, his gaze locking with mine.

”The way you treat me,” I replied, my voice breaking. ”You left me in pain back at my home. And even now, you’re using this moment.”

I gasped in pain.

”I’m sorry, Alpha King. I know I’m nothing more than an omega and your employee, but I will say this. You’re not the just Alpha King you’re known as.”

I tried to make my voice as emotional as possible.

However, he didn’t seem pleased.

He kept watching me with the same bored expression that was always on his face, mixed with annoyance and anger.

”Aren’t you the one who said she wants to be abused because she thinks she deserves it for what happened to Gigi?” he challenged, lowering his head to look at me through his brows.

As those words left his mouth, I realized how I looked.

I looked like a hypocrite.

I had clearly said I wouldn’t break up with my boyfriend because I wanted him to abuse me as a form of punishment.

At the same time, I was complaining that the Alpha King wasn’t treating me fairly.

As I sat there on the floor, not a word passed between us.

It was as if no one else was going to break the silence, so I had to.

”I guess you’re right,” I forced out, my jaw clenching.

I guess I didn’t do justice to my own cause.

”Let’s shift you to the bed and then call the ambulance?” he echoed as he started walking toward me.

”No need,” I suddenly hissed. ”Thank you for reminding me that even though these two things are completely different, you want me to let everybody fucking mistreat me. I’m letting my boyfriend mistreat me because of what happened with Gigi, but apparently you want me to keep letting every single person abuse me because that would be justice. Fine.”

The minute I looked up at him, pain shot through my body, and I immediately closed my eyes.

My entire body shook.

”Don’t be dramatic,” he muttered, lowering himself and slipping his hands beneath my arms.

The rough rope brushed against his hands.

”No—” I rasped. ”No. Please. Fucking just leave.”

At this point, I wasn’t faking it.

I was honestly angry that he was using those words against me.

I thought I was trying to make a point by staying with an abusive boyfriend so I could understand how Gigi had felt with one.

But apparently, this man just wanted everyone to punish me.

So I was annoyed.

”No, I will sit here,” I heard a voice say from outside, and my heart skipped a beat.

I couldn’t move, but I watched Ragnar’s expression tighten as he walked to the door and listened to the voices outside.

”We could have sat in your wing,” Mrs. Bundy said to Lady Lucille.

I had no clue why they were in my wing in the first place.

”No, I told you. My wing has a strange smell. Maybe a rat crawled into my closet and died. I’m staying here for some time,” Lady Lucille replied.

”Then I’ll sit here with you,” Mrs. Bundy said.

”And, well, I guess Jenna fell asleep,” Lady Lucille added.

Now there was a problem.

It was late at night.

I was wearing nothing but a robe.

Behind the closed door, there was a man with me.

If he left the room, I’m sure he wouldn’t care.

But I was pretty sure he knew Gigi would.

The minute Gigi heard that he had come out of my room late at night, she’d be hurt.

I saw the look on Ragnar’s face.

He reached for the door, then slowly turned the key and locked it.

That was when I realized he was stuck in the room with me until the ladies outside decided to leave.

And I fucking did not want him around while I was already in so much pain.

Oh, did I?

Now he was really stuck with me.

And then it hit me.

I had been wasting so much time.

It was time to make things awkward and embarrassing between me and the Alpha King.

”Ahhh!” I groaned in pain.

Ragnar snapped at me and put a finger to his lips.

I closed my eyes and bit my bottom lip.

He walked over to me and crouched down.

”Are you in a lot of pain?” he asked, almost in a whisper.

”No. I like sitting frozen on the floor in the cold with nothing but a robe on,” I whispered, my voice cracking.

He glanced at the door before looking back at me.

”Let’s get you onto the bed first,” he murmured under his breath.

He really was stuck.

I couldn’t wait to get him tangled in my trap.

And now, more than ever, I wanted him punished.

This time, I didn’t tell him no.

He crouched closer, and I felt one of his strong arms wrap around my back.

Honestly, I was in a lot of pain.

So when he slipped his other arm beneath my thighs, pain shot through my body.

The arm I had wrapped around his shoulders tightened, my fingers curling into his shoulder.

”I’ll try to move you slowly, okay?” he whispered.

As he pulled me closer, I ended up much nearer to him than before, close enough to smell his breath for the first time.

It was minty fresh, like he’d never had a bad day.

As he carried me toward the bed, my gaze dropped to the floor.

That’s when I saw it.

His foot landed on the same spot mine had.

This time, I wasn’t tripping alone.
