Fated To Three, And I Broke Them All

Verity:

”Good girl. That’s it. I just wanted to remind you that while you’re trying to play your games, you should remember where you came from and how you’re supposed to live your life. Now go.”

He spoke in a voice full of judgment, one that constantly reminded me he believed he was better than everyone else.

I didn’t argue.

I simply turned to leave.

”Wait.”

I stopped and closed my eyes, praying he didn’t have another complaint.

Then I felt his hand slide down to my waist and then to my ass.

My fists clenched even tighter as he slapped my ass gently.

”They’re getting bigger,” he murmured.

”I love that you’re taking care of your body,” he added.

”Now go. Be a good girl.”

Finally, I walked away.

I didn’t know what hurt more.

Those people I considered my own, people I believed would protect me, actually wanted to take advantage of me under the pretense of protecting me.

This man always behaved as though he were some kind of saint, someone who hated the idea of my body attracting men’s attention.

However, whenever I stood in front of him, all that seemed to matter to him was my body.

He touched me and acted as though it were completely normal.

Maybe because I had never told him to stop.

He knew I never would.

And he took full advantage of that.

Once I was far enough away, I took a deep breath, got into the cab, pulled off my gloves, threw them into my bag, and buried my face in my hands.

Heat rushed to my head.

I wanted to scratch every part of my body he had touched, but I couldn’t.

There was only one thing that truly broke my heart.

For a woman alone, this world was a very dangerous place.

The minute I arrived home, I stripped out of that dress and tossed it aside.

I didn’t want to cover up my skin as though I were lying in a coffin.

What was wrong with him?

I didn’t have to wear gloves and high necklines when his hands were already exploring my body.

If he wanted me to remain pure, then he shouldn’t have been indecent with me.

But then again, how could I complain?

I needed him for my game.

I sighed.

Then I fell asleep on the couch instead of going to bed.

I woke up pretty late the next morning.

I already had everything packed, so all I had to do was put on black pants, a black silk shirt, and a black blazer, leaving my hair down.

I wheeled my luggage out to the car that had arrived to pick me up.

Ragnar had sent it for me.

I was going to meet him at his mansion, and from there we would continue our journey together in one car.

By the time I arrived at the mansion, I immediately recognized Gigi’s purple Rolls-Royce parked outside.

I already knew she was there.

That was the annoying part.

I didn’t want to see her every day.

The more she saw me, the more observant she became.

I entered the mansion, and the very first thing I noticed was Jenna and Gigi standing near Jenna’s wing, where she and her grandmother’s rooms were.

They were talking almost in whispers, as if they were sharing some secret conversation.

”Don’t worry. Nobody found out. Jaguar arrived and helped us. We drove around, and by the time you woke up, you were feeling fine. Just well enough to walk into the house. Then I took you straight to your room, and you fell asleep.”

Gigi was the one doing all the talking, while Jenna looked very pale, anxiously rubbing her hands together.

”Yeah. Grandma was upset this morning because she didn’t see me yesterday,” Jenna uttered.

The fact that the two of them were talking like they were close friends was already a red flag.

Alarm bells started ringing in my head.

I couldn’t think of any reason why those two should be standing so close together.

Not because I was jealous that they were getting along so well, but because Gigi wasn’t a girl’s girl.

I knew that from my own experience.

So seeing her get so involved with Jenna was already a bad sign.

Weirdly enough, I was worried for Jenna.

I just hoped Gigi wasn’t playing the same games with her that she used to play with me.

That was when Jenna’s eyes landed on me.

She subtly shifted her weight onto one leg, silently letting Gigi know they were no longer alone.

Gigi immediately followed her gaze and looked at me.

Then she rolled her eyes.

”Don’t worry about anything, okay?” she said to Jenna, giving her arm a reassuring pat before sending her back to her wing.

Then Gigi turned to me, her arms folded across her chest as she walked over in a tight dark blue dress.

”So, you are headed out with my boyfriend. I hope this project goes well. He’s really worried about it.”

Gigi spoke as though she were genuinely interested in his business.

I knew better.

She was a dumb bitch.

I knew that much.

Intelligence wasn’t something that came naturally to her.

She was just a clever liar.

That was what I knew of her.

”Of course it will. After all, Alpha King Ragnar is taking care of this project. Whatever he touches turns to gold.”

I spoke about him with admiration, my voice trembling ever so slightly.

I could tell it didn’t sit well with her because her jaw clenched so tightly I almost heard it pop.

She looked me up and down before stepping back as Ragnar arrived, followed by his servant carrying his luggage.

He gestured for me to move ahead, signaling that I should head toward the exit so we could get going.

At the same time, he turned to say goodbye to Gigi.

I walked toward the exit, but I stopped when I turned around and noticed them.

Gigi and Ragnar were making out.

She was all over him, kissing him goodbye the same way she used to kiss my brother goodbye.
