Transmigration: The Evil Mother-In-Law Is Actually Innocent!

Chapter 554: Chapter 554 Please Stay, Sir_1

Yao Zheyu hooked his fingertips and watched the two maids standing by his side—one enchantingly charming, the other pure and pretty. Heh, without pausing for a moment, he turned and walked out, truly sickening.

”Don’t leave! Mr. Hou instructed this, the Prince should take it back with him!”

Yao Zheyu didn’t stop in his tracks, not wanting to listen to a word of what was said behind him.

Yao Yao had been waiting at the courtyard gate early on, spotting her elder brother at first glance, and sighed helplessly, ”Big brother.”

Yao Zheyu stopped, ”You need something?”

Yao Yao let out a sound of surprise, ”You know I can’t leave the residence, they’ve stopped my supply of paper and ink. Could you buy some for me when you have time, big brother?”

Yao Zheyu pushed the Silver in front of him, ”Take it with you, I got it.”

Yao Yao smiled with her eyes, ”Thank you, big brother.”

Yao Zheyu gripped the paper in his palm, ”Mm.”

The next morning, Zhou Shuren ate breakfast and then took Shen Xing out to go shopping. First, he visited a jewelry store to buy gifts for his wife, and then he bought some delicate toys for his son.

Shen Xing, holding various boxes in his arms, was expressionless. It was his first time shopping, and it was also his first time to realize that adults have a fondness for shopping, wanting to check out every store.

Shen Xing wasn’t much better off, his hands already full, feeling sentimental about the master’s remembrance of the mistress, yet speechless—everything the master bought seemed to be for the mistress and the young master, nothing for anyone else in the residence, truly undisguised favoritism.

Zhou Shuren came across a store selling paper and brushes and immediately noticed Yao Zheyu, ”The Prince?”

He isn’t busy running around at this hour? Then again, it made sense—after all, the Second Prince taking over was meant to trap the Fifth Prince, so why let Yao Zheyu continue to meddle?

Yao Zheyu had already paid the coins, ”Official Zhou, it seems we really do have fate. It’s getting late, how about we find a place to rest a while?”

Zhou Shuren was indeed a bit tired, ”The Prince is inviting?”

If you’re treating, I’ll go—freebies are always good.

Yao Zheyu twitched the corner of his mouth, you really aren’t poor, Official Zhou, ”Yes.”

Zhou Shuren smiled and instructed Shen Xing, ”Buy some good quality paper, then find me at the restaurant on the street corner.”

Shen Xing, with a wooden face, replied, ”Yes.”

Only then did Yao Zheyu notice the objects in the guards’ hands and looked wordlessly at Official Zhou, ”I’ve just realized that Official Zhou also has a liking for shopping.”

Zhou Shuren strolled leisurely outside, ”Since I rarely come to the capital, I wanted to buy some gifts for my wife to take back. Prince, when you get married, you will understand—thinking of her constantly when away from home!”

Yao Zheyu could hear the pleasure in Official Zhou’s tone and saw the complexity in his eyes. In his view, Official Zhou was always a strange man, never hiding his concern for his family, never feigning his deep love for his wife, openly showing his vulnerabilities. Heh, wasn’t this man telling everyone that touching his reverse scales meant certain death?

Yao Zheyu thought of Magistrate Shen, his future wife. He would treat her well, ”When I get married, I will certainly invite Official Zhou, and I hope you will honor us with your presence.”

Zhou Shuren didn’t pause in his steps, this marriage is not going to be easy, bound to be fraught with disasters, ”Alright.”

In the Wang family in Jinzhou, Lady Dong had gained a lot of weight and said apologetically, wrapped in heavy clothing, ”Ever since winter began, I’ve been getting colder and colder. I had intended to come out to greet you.”

Zhulan, seeing that Lady Dong’s complexion was good, spoke up, ”It’s really me who is troubling you; I’m disturbing your rest today.”

Lady Dong shook her head, ”I actually wish you’d come more often. I truly feel suffocated staying in the residence all day.”

Zhulan laughed. Lady Dong was someone who loved to attend feasts, ”Mr. Hou is concerned about you. You are the Wang family’s greatest treasure now.”

Lady Dong touched her stomach, indeed it was a treasure. The mother-in-law had brought a lot of things all at once, and even the eunuch had personally inquired about it. It showed how precious a direct male descendant was to the Wang family—she hoped it would be a son. ”By the way, this must be Lady Dong, right?”

Zhulan nodded, ”Yes, she’s my third son’s wife’s sister Dong Yiyi.”

Dong Yiyi smiled with the corners of her mouth, ”Sorry for the disturbance.”

Lady Tao smiled, she wasn’t familiar with Dong Yiyi, ”The teacher has already arrived, should we see him first?”

Zhulan smiled, ”Good.”

Dong Yiyi’s smile didn’t reach her eyes. Even though she came from the capital, to these noble families, the Jiang Residence really wasn’t worth mentioning. Lady Tao was polite but didn’t take her seriously. Once, she too had been proud, but upon arriving in the capital, nothing remained.

The teacher had arrived, a rather elderly man.

Lady Tao spoke up, ”You told me that the miss from the Jiang family has a talent for the guqin, so I found a master with good guqin skills.”

Zhulan graciously thanked her, then turned to Dong Yiyi, ”What do you think?”

Dong Yiyi smiled, ”Quite good.”

She wasn’t in a position to be picky. It was good enough that she could hire someone.

Lady Tao glanced over. She had seen too many women like this, related to officials, whose demeanor completely depended on their husbands and maternal families.

Lady Tao gossiped, ”By the way, have you heard? Ran Yan is pregnant.”

Zhulan, ”...Qi Clan visited the Zhou residence yesterday.”

This lady was well-informed even from home.

Lady Tao clapped her hands, ”Right, right, I heard about that. Let me tell you, I heard that Mrs. Liu smashed quite a bit of porcelain yesterday.”

Zhulan, ”...You also know about the Min family’s affairs?”

Lady Tao chuckled awkwardly, ”It’s not unusual. Which family doesn’t have a servant who talks too much? Speaking of which, Mrs. Liu is really pitiful. Her young daughter is in the Fifth Prince’s Residence, and apparently, she has been sick all the time.”

Without Lady Tao mentioning it, Zhulan would have almost forgotten about the matter, that there was a Miss Min in the Fifth Prince’s Residence.

Dong Yiyi, who knew more details from the capital, joined in, ”Indeed, she’s been seriously ill, and has been hanging on with the help of medicine.”

Lady Tao rubbed her belly, ”The Fifth Prince’s Residence is really something, haha, I haven’t said anything.”

Zhulan knew what Lady Tao wanted to say. The Fifth Prince’s Residence was indeed tragic, with a future consort of the Fifth Prince becoming the daughter of a criminal, the legitimate daughter of the Min family sick, and the Fifth Prince’s health was also poor!

Lady Tao lowered her voice, ”I heard that.”

Zhulan was stunned, ”What else did you hear?”

Her information was already quite up-to-date, but still not as much as Lady Tao’s!

Lady Tao coughed, ”I heard that the Fifth Prince’s Residence is preparing to ’rush for happiness’.”

Zhulan looked at Lady Tao somberly, this piece of news was definitely not from Jinzhou; it must have been something Lady Tao heard from her maternal family. She remembered that Lady Tao’s family had come to Jinzhou yesterday, right, there were Ministry of Rites officials in Lady Tao’s maternal family, so naturally, they would have the most up-to-date news on marriages.

In the capital, Zhou Shuren felt somewhat stuffed and was ready to return to his residence, ”I thank the Princely Heir for his hospitality today.”

Yao Zhe Yu looked at the dining table. This man was really not modest—none of the dishes he ordered were cheap, ”Did Zhou relish the meal?”

Zhou Shuren patted his belly, ”Immensely satisfied!”

Not spending a single coin of his own, indulging in good wine and food and still not being satisfied would be outrageous!

Yao Zhe Yu meanwhile touched his purse. Today, he hadn’t brought much silver with him. Most of his silver had been spent on buying paper and ink for his sister. It should be enough to pay the bill, he hoped; otherwise, it would be embarrassing.

Zhou Shuren stood up, ”There are matters to attend to at the Zhou residence, so I shall be leaving first.”

Yao Zheyu, ”Please wait, my lord.”
