Transmigration: The Evil Mother-In-Law Is Actually Innocent!

Chapter 118: Chapter 118 Son_1

Lady Li was so nervous that she forgot about the bustle at Wang Laosi’s home until her mother asked her and reminded her of the important matter, ”Sun’s was pulled down by Wang Ru, and the child, more than seven months along, was born prematurely.”

Zhulan couldn’t believe that Wang Ru would be foolish enough to take action herself, ”How did mother and daughter start quarreling?”

Lady Li had gone there for a while yesterday and had inquired quite a bit, ”Sun’s sisters-in-law from her maiden family are not good people. When Sun’s mother passed away, they sold the beautiful big Sun as a maid. The less attractive little Sun, who looked hard to bear children, ended up marrying Wang Laosi. When Wang Laosi’s family came into money, they also came knocking for their share. Wang Ru wouldn’t let Wang Zhang’s wife take advantage, let alone Sun’s family. After failing to get their way several times, they didn’t stop slandering Wang Ru in front of Sun’s.”

Lady Li paused and said mysteriously, ”Sun’s sisters-in-law are terribly mean. They knew Sun’s wanted a son and kept reminding her about the time she almost miscarried because of Wang Ru’s bumping into her. After hearing it repeatedly, Sun’s became somewhat convinced. She not only stayed away from Wang Ru but also took advantage of Wang Ru’s absence to steal her jewelry. This time, Wang Ru came back and caught Sun’s red-handed trying to steal her silver coin. Wang Ru grabbed Sun’s and wouldn’t let her go. Sun’s tried to run and fell down because she couldn’t keep her balance.”

Lady Li sneered, ”Sun’s never treated Babe like her own daughter. Babe made quite a bit of money, but Sun’s was cursing fiercely as she lay on the ground!”

She too had given birth to a treasured daughter, never so much as raising her voice, let alone laying a hand on her. She wouldn’t even want to learn the vile words that Sun’s used.

Zhulan thought to herself, Sun’s was the child’s biological mother and knew her own child well. The bond between mother and daughter was strong, and Sun’s mistrust towards Wang Ru was not just influenced by the Sun family’s words but also because she clearly understood that Wang Ru was not Babe.

Zhao’s entered the conversation, ”Sun’s is no longer the timid and fearful person she used to be. With wealth, people can change dramatically, to the point that they’re unrecognizable.”

Zhulan asked, ”Do you know whether Sun’s gave birth to a son or a daughter?”

Lady Li actually knew. The head of the household had come to fetch her just after the birth. Wang Laosi was laughing maniacally; had she stayed a bit longer, she might have received some silver coin, ”It’s a son, barely a few days short of eight months. Neither fully alive nor dead, but he should be able to survive.”

Zhulan thought to herself that Wang Ru’s survival mode just got harder, indirectly because of her and Zhou Shuren; now that Wang Laosi had a son, his daughter was unequivocally seen as a loss. It was only a pity for the two older girls who, because of Sun’s bragging, were no longer being considered for marriage proposals that were previously inquiring about them.

However, it seemed like Wang Ru didn’t agree with her two elder sisters marrying into the countryside. Wang Ru had always viewed things with the mindset of a modern person, completely unaware of how good a marriage a girl without a background could achieve. Wang Laosi’s daughters were unattractive, and Wang Ru was considered exceptional only because of modern makeup miracles. Without makeup, her foundation wasn’t that good either.

Knowing the situation at Wang Laosi’s home, Zhulan did not inquire further, and Lady Li and Zhao’s talked about other topics.

For dinner, they had dumplings not made entirely of white flour; some cornmeal was added, though not too much for fear it would affect the dough’s consistency, causing it to fall apart while cooking. Fortunately, Lady Li’s control was good; the dumplings remained intact, and the meat-filled ones settled comfortably in their stomachs. As several children gathered around Zhulan, Ming Teng sweetly said, ”Grandma, from now on, please don’t go anywhere and just stay home, okay?”

Zhulan pinched Ming Teng’s nose, ”You’re just thinking about the good food when Grandma is home, aren’t you?”

Ming Teng, feeling sheepish when his thoughts were guessed, blinked his big eyes and hastily denied it, ”I just missed Grandma.”

Zhulan smiled mischievously, ”But if Grandma goes out, she can bring gifts back for Ming Teng. How about bringing a little bow next time, okay?”

Ming Teng was torn, his eyes wide, ”Why can’t one have both the fish and the bear’s paw?”

Zhulan laughed, ”You even know about the fish and the bear’s paw not being attainable together, huh? Not bad, not bad.”

Ming Teng swelled with pride, ”I heard Brother reciting; I just picked it up. Brother said it’s good that I’m like him, not getting the dull brains from Dad and Mom.”

Mingyun, ”.....”

Little brother, you’re throwing Brother under the bus here, feeling the glare from Dad!

Prince Chu, ”.....”

He might not be the sharpest, but being called stupid by his own son really stings!
